PLEASE AVOID THIS EATERY!
The staff here is absolutely worst. Not only do they lack customer centricity, they are rude as hell. They are more interested in gossiping amongst themselves rather than attending to customers. You're better off going to Dunkin or Starbucks which are a few steps away.
If this chain really wants to retain or acquire customers it should look closely at who they hire and how they're trained.
*Feedback especially for staff at the counter at around 9:50 am on 8th of February.*

Over priced trash!!! I rather go to Dunkin Donuts or one of those small food carts on corners before this place. They have fresh donuts at least. This morning at 5am when you expect everything to be fresh, I was charged $10 for horrible coffee and hard bagels. Customer service was fine but never again would i spend money here.

Very disappointed this time around went to get a bagel with cream cheese and a croissant, there was someone ordering so I waited my turn then ordered the lady making the order was very rude and disrespectful made my order and put it at the end of the counter away from where you usually pick up and treated me like I was a beggar looking down on me because the lady after me was well dressed smh. The food tasted terrible like soap had to throw it away as I was already on a train. I have wasted $7.95 and I will never buy anything from there again

So I frequent Zaro’s and also recommend quite often. Two days ago I went to order a bagel and notice the worker Jackie wiped her self eat and with the same glove processed to pick up my bagel to service me next. So instead of calling her out. I went and spoke with the manager Lisa who was no help at all. I whispered “ could you just have her change her glove” she yells out loud huh you want her to change her gloves🙄Now I’m just pissed. So I said never mind. I ask her to change her gloves nicely she replied with a lil attitude & that was fine. Fast forward to today 12/13/24 I went as I do every morning I said hello she rolled her eyes and refused service me! SMH I guess if o would have called health department they could have handled it a lil better. So sad! You can’t mix body fluids working in the food industry!!!!!!!

Been frequenting here for many many years, generally good but the bagels have been getting really small as of late! Also that lady working the bagel stand downstairs is very stingy with the cream cheese. Please adjust. The popcorn is great as always though.

I was hesitant to try this spot due to some negative reviews, but I’m so glad I took the chance. I was in NYC for the weekend and had the best croissant breakfast sandwich here, with both bacon and sausage. The croissant was baked to perfection—crispy yet flaky, with a delicate, wafer-like texture that was just right. Absolutely delicious! Looking forward to my next visit."

I didn’t like my croissant because it was dried out and hard at noon time. Day old bakery?

I stopped here when I came off the Amtrak from Nebraska. The customer service was awesome! He moved quickly and ALWAYS used paper to grab baked goods. I got the black and white cookie. It was large and tasted rich and fresh. I bought 2 of them that's how good it was! I had a wonderful experience and I will come back!
Kid-friendliness: The man at the counter was very polite and never cursed.

I expected a nice experience but was let down. The food and drink here feels like it belongs amongst the other dirty poor quality places in Newark Penn. I’d recommend going anywhere else.

The employees are pleasant and I feel uplifted when I visit. So far, I have tasted their almond croissant, coffee ring, chocolate chip cookie, and carrot cake. They are all fresh and delicious. I am glad that I have gotten to try this hospitable bakery's food.
Thank you, Zaro!

Paid $4 dollars for a bagel with cream cheese and got the least amount of cream cheese imaginable. Would not recommend. Picture for proof.
Absolutely my favorite place for pastries and coffee at Penn Station NJ. Very high quality. Would definitely come back again.
