Florence's Bagel Deli & Cafe

This place is a hidden gem. They have hearty portions and everything it just delicious. It’s small and quaint little shop but it feels just like visiting family. The owner and the staff are always so warm and welcoming. They’re just genuine heartfelt people. The bagels are perfect, and the food always hits the spot. Love their breakfast sandwiches. I’ve been there a few times and I’ll definitely be back again.

It was bad enough that the '80s rock music was playing so loud when I walked in that I had to repeat my order three times to the woman behind the counter till she got it straight (ironic because she looked to be at least two decades older than anybody who would have been listening to that music as a teenager), but when they finally brought my sandwich out, which I ordered as chicken salad, it turned out to be a breaded chicken cutlet on a roll. I pointed out to the cook that I ordered chicken salad (also hard to hear- had to repeat multiple times) and he
agreed to correct it. When they brought it out again and I started eating it, I thought it tasted a little funny. Turns out they took the breaded chicken cutlet and cut it up and mixed it with mayonnaise. By this point it was late and I was hungry and I didn't say anything. Needless to say I will not be going back here again.

Had a terrific breakfast sandwich: egg and cheddar cheese on a sesame seed bagel it was delicious. Also enjoyed a nice hot cup of tea. Service was good, friendly hospital place. Ate at delightful small table a joyous Christmas music played in the background highly recommend. They also cater food. Hours 6:30 to 3:00 PM for lunch and dinner. Stop by to enjoy good food at reasonable prices.

My husband and I were in town to see the Giants game and we decided to stop here because I have never had a “jersey bagel” before. We came on Sunday morning & found ourselves right back here a second time the next morning before heading back. After our first one we just HAD to have more. Not only was the bagel itself AMAZING, but the service was phenomenal. The owners make you feel like you are a part of their little family from the moment you walk in. It’s like you are sitting in their dining room for a meal. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and comfortable. We both got bacon egg and cheese. I got the everything bagel, and my husband got the sesame bagel. The bagel itself is PERFECTLY made. that slight crisp on the outside but so soft and fluffy on the inside. Now, i’m back in VA and i don’t think i’ll ever be able to enjoy a basic bagel the same way ever again.

No gloves, tried to overcharge me for a buttered bagel $4+ when I questioned the price, he said oh yea and went down to $2.13 gave $3 and automatically put $2 in register and $1 in tip jar. When asked for the change he looked at me sideways. The audacity. Butter tasted stale and couldn't even finish half. First and Last time and will never recommend.

The owner Al and his wife are an amazing power duo that this town definitely needed. He's an amazing chef with a fantastic background and loves treating people to his amazing dishes. The vibe is very quaint and comfortable with lots of room to move around and check out the pastries he also makes homemade in-house. Definitely best bagel/deli around the area so far and deserves way more exposure!

Parking: Mini plaza parking lot, roughly 15-20 car spaces with 2 in the center next to the sidewalk. Around the block is free street parking.

I ordered deliveryMy partner has a severe spinach allergy, bordering anaphylactic.I always add *severe spinach allergy* to my orders as an FYI for cross contamination purposes as it’s a very odd allergy.This was supposed to be a roast beef with cheddar subbed in place of American cheese.To our disbelief, my partner was eating her sandwich to find SPINACH in it and not that it even matters at this point but they also didn’t swap out the American cheese.Now I have to hope that the benedryl does its job and it won’t be followed up by a trip to the hospital.I’ve attached a photo to show that I wrote severe spinach allergy.It’s beyond concerning that this was overlooked and misinterpreted entirely.As someone who not only has a partner with food allergies, but a child with food allergies as well..it can be a life or death situation and I take it very seriously.I hope my review will be adequate feedback to ensure future customers who vocalize food allergies are safe.

I ordered 2 sandwiches today in advance over the phone to pick up (one sub and one chicken cutlet) and they were both delicious. I enjoyed how the lettuce, tomato, onions were thinly cut and not big chunks on the sandwich. Great quantity of food for the price - very fresh. The workers were very nice, and it's great that there's a parking lot. I will definitely be coming back and can recommend this place :)

My brother Seth use to live in the area and when I visited the city he recommended I stop by. He was absolutely right! Al was fabulous and treated my daughter and I well. We got a half dozen bagels to go and any time I'm in the city ill always swing by to Florence bagels. Very worth the 25 min trip over to North Arlington!
