Beer Venturers

NJBC has been in the craft brewing industry since 2010 and, over their long existence, have created some of our favorite NJ beers. While they have always excelled in the IPA lines ranging from traditional to hazies and milkshakes, I think the stout and porter lineups are even stronger offerings. As a fan of strong, dark, and generally more complex beers, NJBC really hit a home run with their "Cups of Peanut Butter and Chocolate" porter. But you won't go wrong with anything on the board. One of, if not the most popular beers they make is the "Blood Orange LBIPA." This would be your must try beer if you've never experienced it.

There's this concept developed by the Walt Disney theme parks as the gold standard for excellent customer service: If a guest has a bad experience, do everything to fix it. Turn that bad experience into a good experience, because customers remember excellent service. They remember people who care.Just before the holiday, I bought a bad 4-pack of NJ Beer Co. beer. It was not even remotely drinkable. I looked up some phone numbers, and contacted the General Manager that evening, and the next week, Head Brewer himself DROVE 2 HOURS down to South Jersey to PERSONALLY replace the beer. 10/10 customer service, I got to enjoy a delicious dessert beer with my spouse. Will recommend it to *everyone* looking for dessert beer from now on.NJ Beer Co., you have made a customer for life.

(Drank 07/14/23 FR @ 5:00pm): Yup... this definitely was a brewing company in New Jersey! On this recent trip, I was on a mission to explore the small beer scene in/around Jersey City and ended up at New Jersey Brewing Co. as my second brewery. This time, my friend and I found ourselves in the township of North Bergen which neither of us had been to before. With a tap list heavily-focused on IPAs, it was difficult for my friend to find something she could drink, and IPAs weren't one of my top three choices. Would there be a drinkable brew for us in this part of New Jersey!?PURCHASEMango On My Mind IPA Beer 7.0% ABV 16floz Draft ($7.00): Bright mango orange color, slight hoppy mango aroma, low body, slight hoppy mango tropical flavor, mouthfeel finish, and slight hoppy mango tropical aftertaste - mango! yelp.com/user_local_phot…Blood Orange American LBIPA Beer 6.6% ABV 16floz Draft ($6.00 x3): Hazy orange color, slight hoppy orange aroma, low body, slight hoppy orange sweet flavor, drying finish, and slight hoppy orange aftertaste - Vitamin-C! yelp.com/user_local_phot…Algorithmic Design NEDIPA Beer 7.8% ABV 16floz Draft ($7.00): Hazy orange color, citrusy hoppy aroma, low body, citrusy hoppy piney flavor, drying finish, and citrusy hoppy aftertaste - in the weeds! yelp.com/user_local_phot…Freedom! After we secured seating, they were kind and patient enough to offer free samples to my friend who wasn't an IPA drinker. Afterwards, I continuously approached the bar to place an order during our stay. There wasn't any table service, so on each trip I returned our empties. Everything was no-frills straightforward which was fine with us - all was good!PARKING (FREE; N/A this instance)We took the light rail to Tonnelle Ave. Station and walked about 10 minutes along a busy street into a somewhat industrial area. They didn't have an onsite lot. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of spots along the main drag of 43rd St., the major thoroughfare of Tonnelle Ave., and nearby surrounding side streets - 'nuff said.ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCEA no-frills somewhat cavernous industrial warehouse where you walked through a door within a drop-down metal garage door, you were immediately staring at the brewing tanks. The bar area was off to the right with several high barrel tables, a handful of stools at the bar, and a chalkboard menu yelp.com/user_local_phot… up on the wall. There was an uncomfortable hot dankness in the air. Natural lighting only entered once the garage door was opened while soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were muted TVs while rock music played in the background. yelp.com/user_local_phot…ATTIRETotally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops.OVERALLI was happy to try New Jersey Brewing Co., and I would consider another visit at least to try the rest of their beers. However, their tap list was limited both in quantity and variety. They were very heavy on the IPAs which wasn't my favorite. Unfortunately, there wasn't any onsite food (some snacks) or trucks (BYOF style). And, they appeared to be family and pet-friendly. They had comparable prices and adequate service. I fo

Steve and I enjoyed the Peaches N' Cream IPA from New Jersey Beer Co. This IPA was quite a bit different than many as it was pretty dominant with a peach flavor unlike others in which you usually get citrus and that is certainly a good thing because when you keep getting IPA's that have similar flavor profiles it's easy for them to blur from brewery to brewery. There is a nice creamy smoothness to this beer and though peach is a fairly sweet fruit this beer isn't too sugary which I have decided to avoid if I can because it's more like drinking a thick soda and that is not what I am looking for with beer experiences. Nice drinking experience with this brewery and I really do appreciate their recipes on beer that are just a little bit different than many. For that I give kudos for.

An absolute hidden gem. Some of the best craft beer I've had in NY/NJ. The bar itself has a super cool vibe with friendly bartenders. They occasionally have live music and food trucks. You can just swing by and grab a 4-pack/fill a growler on your way home from work if that's your preference.

their "crisp pilsner" is not good but is not too bad and deserves a solid 2 star, but... according to the printed text on the can: they "love drinking classic beer styles." And "Pilsner was named after the German city Pilsen and is traditionally a pale lager." Wow! What??? Which city? What city? Plzen? German? During the German occupation from 1939 to 1945???What do you mean exactly???Do you have an idea of what you are brewing or you just "download from the Internet"?

Been wanting to come here. Great place and hospitality. Great beer and a great time- definitely recommend.

Been here a few times. Friendly staff and laid back environment. You can bring your own food and play board games they have.

Unexpectedly excellent. Don't let what looks like an industrial loading bay fool you, it's exactly what it is. The people already relaxing outside should put you at ease. Grab a flight and choose your favorite brew. You can bring your own grub, but if you like BBQ, the boys from Raw's Smokehouse have you covered, on site.A group of what looked like close friends thoroughly enjoyed the Peaches and Cream faster than the Cicerone could pour. They sang along to the live music and yelled for an encore at the end. Maybe I yelled for the encore, but that's besides the point.

So much fun! Dog and people friendly. Great selection of Jersey beers. Try a flight!

Nice “hole in the wall” brewery. 12 beers on tap and amazing bbq food that isn’t part of the brewery since they cannot sell food. Plenty of cans to go an growlers available. All of the beer I had was good and I will revisit this place. Being honest though, they are not on the same level as Kane, Carton, Mangnify, Brix City just to name a few. To be fair those are upper echelon breweries in NJ.

Enjoyed some great beers and live on Saturday afternoon. My faves were the Blood Orange IPA and the Blackberry Cobbler IPA (relatively new). LDog and kid friendly. Limited seating options and metered parking.
