I’ve been a regular at Bonchon Nutley and have always enjoyed their signature fried chicken—crispy, flavorful, and worth the slightly higher price. However, my experience today was incredibly disappointing. I ordered a 10-piece (half Soy Garlic, half Korean BBQ) around 4 PM, and when I arrived, the restaurant was filled with smoke. I didn’t mind since I was ordering to go, but what followed was a letdown.
The wings looked large, so I was excited for a great meal, but unfortunately, the chicken was nothing like I remembered. The skin was soggy instead of crispy, and the once-crunchy coating was completely off. The flavor was lacking, especially compared to the vibrant, bold taste I've come to expect. To top it off, the chicken was overly fatty, making it quite unappetizing.
At over $20 for just 10 pieces, this was a huge disappointment. I’m hoping this was just an off day for them, but given the price and the quality I received, I’m hesitant to return anytime soon. I’ve had much better experiences here, so I’m not ready to completely write them off yet, but this was a serious letdown.
The food is really good. However, we placed an order ahead of time and when we got there at the pickup time we had to wait almost 40 minutes to get our order. Moreover, the floors were very sticky and the tables were dirty even though they had just opened so no customers had dined in yet.

I originally ordered at the Nutley location through their website for delivery and had to cancel because a driver couldn’t pick up the order. I called and canceled my order through doordash (their delivery service) but never received a refund as promised. My order totaled over $70 and wasn't willing to let it go under the rug. After calling the store and DoorDash over several days with no answers I reached out to the Parsippany Location for more direction. Their manager was amazing ACTUALLY attempting to help and although he couldn’t refund my money he provided me with a gift card for my total.
Simply 0. I ordered for pick up at 5 pm but at 5:30 pm they were saying still not ready. Don’t come here. This place is not good.

Update - don’t bother leaving your info on their site as requested in their response to negative criticism. I did that within 24 hours of them asking to do so. That was almost 2 weeks ago. Never heard from anyone.
First- the place was filthy. More on that below.
The food was good, although it did take about 30 minutes for an order for two people. The girl working there was polite, and apologetic for the delay.
But the restaurant was filthy. Many rust stains on the tiles. The tables were dirty and stained. The pedestals of the tables were filthy. There was a liquid stain going down one wall. The foot of the sign in the eating area was nasty. There were some leaves tracked in (it’s fall after all) by the door. It would have taken 20 seconds to sweep up. Even that wasn’t done. That was minor compared to the rest of the dirty dining area, but it nevertheless reinforced that cleanliness is not important here. We contemplated canceling the order because we figured if that’s how dirty it is in front, what must the kitchen be like.
I read a review from 2 months ago with the same complaint. The owner responded saying they would address it. They didn’t. If this was my restaurant, I would be there all the time until this was resolved. And then, I’d be randomly dropping in outside of my regular hours at the business to make sure it didn’t regress.
I only recall one other customer come in while we were there. The girl at the cash was on her phone for periods of time while not busy. McDonald’s motto when I worked there was, “You have time to lean, you have time to clean.” She could have cleaned the table tops and chairs and swept the floors at minimum while being idle. That would have been a start (but that would have only scratched the surface of the deep cleaning needed).
It’s unfortunate. The food was good. The girl provided friendly service. But this is the first and last time we will eat here because of how dirty it was.

Not only was my husband waiting for an hour, but also this is what 12 piece boneless wings looks like. Never again.

Super slow, don’t even bother coming here. It would be fine if the food was good, but it’s average at best. You are going to be waiting 45 minutes to an hour, even if you just ordered 1 item.
Food quality has gone down drastically and they usually take a very long time to have your order ready. They barely put any sauce on the chicken and it isn’t as tasty anymore. Not sure what the issues are that they are having but it’s definitely something. Wont be returning anytime soon, glad there’s another chicken place opening close by soon. Not worth the money.

Ordered the plain chicken and when I say plain. It was crunchy as a crackers without any taste. I love Korean fried chicken. Eating it from here was the worst. It literally had no flavor. The pork belly fried rice was good which was the only reason for the stars. I will not order from this location again.

It wasn't what we expected. The atmosphere of the place was just not right & the person staffed in front at the time we came in, didn't really seem to care about tables or chairs being dirty. The whole place just felt unclean. We tried what we ordered & decided to just have the experience since it was our first time trying it. But it was disappointing & just not a good clean experience. We are glad to say it was more of a one & done place for us. Would recommend probably more for takeout but the food wasn't anything really that crazy.

Bonchon, can you please tell me where the rest of my food order is? We ordered a K-Meal To-Go for 6-8, and our chicken was fine, but side orders were only half full. Just take a look at the pics. I don't have any expectations that food needs to spill out of the containers, but when it's not even remotely close to being full, it leaves you with a really poor impression. This meal was $80, and you're ripping people off. Please do better.
