This location used to be better. The menu is overcrowded on the wall. Too busy in bright letters. Simple is better. You don’t know where to look. The many items hanging in the walls. Too busy. I used to love the simplicity. The front attendant didn’t speak Spanish.
I asked her for fresh empanadas she gave me whatever was there. I ordered 8 different ones. The temperature was warm.
I ordered the rice, black beans and ropa vieja and even though it was ok on taste it was not Cuban style. The Cuban spices were not there. It was good, if you are not Cuban you will not know the difference. I love this place but they are trying to do too much and it looses its charm . Please get a Cuban cook and someone in the front that is bilingual. The lady try to be nice but is not the same feeling. I spent closed to $ 90.00 . Between the empanadas, one meal and one Jupina and a cortado. Maybe better next time

Every time I’ve visited, the folks there have greeted me with a warm smile and wonderful service. This last visit, I asked to have something warmed back up, which they did happily. And then before leaving, they nicely brought me the other empanada I bought to bring home… I get home and realized they included a second FREE empanada! It’s a small gesture, but wanted to share so others know this is a wonderful small business that cares about its customers. Please consider paying them a visit next time you get a chance.

I had a terrible experience at Cubita Café. It took nearly 20 minutes for my Cuban sandwich to be ready. When it arrived, it was hard and dry. It looked and tasted like old, overcooked food. I heard good things about this place, but to say I'm dissatisfied is an understatement.

I’ve been here a ton of times and they never disappoint . I’ve tried just about every empanada they have and they’re really good, but today I decided to change it up and had their oxtail ,rice and bean dish. I gotta tell you ,it tasted just as good as my mom makes it and that’s saying a lot . You’re doing a great Job Gustavo . KEEP IT UP .PS try the espresso it’ll have you running laps around NUTLEY

Espresso Temp is up way too high, taste completely burnt, served scalding and full of grinds. They should rename this restaurant because it is not a proper cafe. 0 stars for coffee
Interesting breakfast options, latin juices, sandwiches and delicious empanadas

One of the best Cubanos I've ever had. Juicy, perfectly seasoned pernil, yummy mojo and a very well made sandwich. Look forward to trying more menu items. Will be back here any time I'm in this neighborhood.

Not authentic Cuban food. They don't have cuban pastelitos. You cannot get sunny side eggs with cuban bread like the typical Cuban place. The ham croquetas were hard shelled and borke apart. Not tasty. Must have changed owners, because we did last time. Expensive breakfast. We both said we wouldn't go back.

Apologies for not reviewing sooner, I've ordered countless number of times already! Standout items for me are the pan con bistec sandwich, beef empanadas, and Maduro n cheese empanadas with that habañero aoli sauce!! The QUALITY of the food is why I keep coming back period. Today I discovered they also do bowls too-- i got the bistec bowl since I love their pan con bistec sandwich. They never disappoint with my orders, everything tastes amazing and fresh. Not sure why some complain about the pricing, I believe its priced fairly for the portion & quality. I don't know the chef personally but he seems like a hard-working genuine guy! Will continue to support this business

Was there 2 weeks ago they were closed on vacation. Stopped by today and they were open. The place was pretty busy given school started. First thing I noticed was the different varieties on the menu. Some that I had never heard of. I kept it simple went with the steak sandwich. Can’t complain was good. I should’ve gone with one of there different varieties. The owner was extremely welcoming and very attentive. He suggested the maduro and cheese with a there hot sauce. That was to die for. Overall will be coming back soon and this time around will be risky and go with their personalized menu option.
