Not a bad place with its outdated 2010s industrial gentrify-chique corrugated metal ceilings . However on a Saturday afternoon there was only one server on the floor with about a dozen or so tables active. He was a very nice young man, however he was clearly overwhelmed because he returned to our table 20 mins after we ordered the food to ask if he put in the order or not. I couldn’t believe my ears. I had been in the food service industry for years and never thought of ever asking a customer that. Just check the computer system. However I asked 15 mins later for him to check the food. He came back saying that he forgot to put in the order. We had been waiting for our food for around 45 mins at this point. He was very polite about it, and I can understand the overwhelming nature of being the only one on the floor, but that was insane. We had been there for an HOUR before we got our food after we ordered it. The food was just okay, the cheese on our burgers weren’t melted and had to send it back. The fries and chips were amazing (definitely out of a bag), but it was the highlight of all our meals, which shouldn’t be the case, the main dish should be. There was no silverware or condiments on the table, and took 30 mins to get our water. The Guinness wasn’t bad, but the bartender who was sitting at the bar on her phone just filled it straight up without the proper way of pouring a Guinness, for $10 might I add, blasphemy. I have to stress it isn’t the much the servers fault, but the manager/owner’s fault who was too busy with his friends at the bar to actually check on his guests and put more servers on the floor on a WEEKEND. That poor server was sweating like Nixon and clearly was very stressed, I know that feeling, and I appreciated the honesty. However the owner clearly has some ineptitude with regards to staffing. This was something I had seen on many reviews of this place before I came here. I’d like to give it another try some day, but only if they are properly staffed.

Just a couple weeks ago we hosted a casual rehearsal dinner for our family. Khris was so easy to work with in coordinating and was an awesome host to our family. The food was great and kept coming for the whole time. The private room upstairs is a great space for parties especially with the outdoor space too!

I was in the area for an event and visited this past Saturday evening. Chris and Edda were awesome! The food was fantastic! Had the BBQ Pork Mac & Cheese with the Lava Cake for dessert. Great drink menu as well. The service was so great we decided to come back again on Sunday evening.

On Sunday, Chris and Nikho were great! Went with the stroganoff bowl tonight. Don't think twice - if you're looking for great food in Nutley hit up The Oakley!

Popped in this little gem for some drinks ; really enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly staff. Definitely a great place to check out, and pop in for a pint (or more).

Went here last night for the most delicious fried chicken sliders I have ever had and karaoke. So fun! Ate way too much- the white pizza and margaritas were also really good. The service was so friendly and competent. We had a large group but our waitress didn’t miss a thing and checked on us often. The karaoke was super fun too! They have kids menus and crayons and they even let them sing! Will be becoming regulars at this place for sure. Can’t wait to go back!

Parking: Free lot across the street and next door if you go at dinner (it’s an office building so can’t park there during the day) plus street parking with plenty of spots - it is off the beaten path so not in the middle of town.

I need a neighborhood bar. And unfortunately, this doesn't fit the bill. Food is meh at best. Nice people. Nice venue, but more restaurant than bar. Jsut not what my alcohol driven life needs at the moment

Edit: returned in Sept 2024 and the food was noticeably better. We tried almost every appetizer and enjoyed everything.

We live within walking distance of the Oakley, but this was only our 2nd time here -- and we really enjoyed it! Great decor and atmosphere. Really nice bar. Service was cordial and relaxed. We really liked both our cocktails -- definitely quality drinks and well mixed. Finally, good food! The poutine was yummy and plentiful. Nice vinaigrette on the house salad. The mashed sweet potatoes were delicious and the pork chop well cooked. Overall, very happy and will return.

The place has a great vibe, but the pizza is terrible and when you mention to them that something is wrong, you get told...well if you wanted more salt, pepper, etc... you can just add it yourself. (and the one of the differences between good and GREAT bars, is the acceptance that the client can relay information back) - perhaps comp the bad product.

I don't live in Nutley but if I did, The Oakley will be the place to go for food and drinks. Try their chicken and pulled pork slide. You won't be disappointed.

Karaoke was a blast! Great vibe.

My brother had a gig here and we ordered some food. Service was really good, waiter was attentive to all the orders. I ended up getting their pasta. I wish they had more burgers on stock. They told me they were out of one item and I was a little sad but not to fret they had other items
