One of our favorite breakfast places in all of OC! The pina colada whip is amazing, and the omelets are delicious.

I had the peanut noodles with tofu. Not bad, not great, somewhere in a very bland middle. 3/5But the "lentil meatballs" my vegan kid got turned out to be real meat, and she got a tummy ache. Boo!!! My partner also had the "lentil meatballs", and her's were the real deal, so if that's what you want, make sure you double check with the server when ordering. Also, why serve the food in single-use plastic bowls, but ON TOP of regular, reusable plates? To create mountains of avoidable garbage?? I guess it must be easier to throw it away than put another dish in the dishwasher. . .

I appreciate that they have vegan options and the menu is clearly labeled. We visited while it was pouring rain outside so we weren't able to sit in the outdoor seating area. The inside is very small. There is only one little area with maybe 3 tables so plan your visit accordingly. I had the vegan whole grain pancakes which were pretty tasty and came with either a side of fruit or potatoes.

We wanted to love this place for all the vegan options. The service was non existent and the food was -they told us to sit and they'd come to us, but after waiting (and there was only one other table who was having a similar experience) for some time, we got our own menus. Then waited longer and finally got up to ask to order at the front. The beyond burger was raw in the middle and didn't have any side with it (we were so hungry and didn't want to wait any longer so my husband just ate it), acai bowl was thinner than a smoothie and came out before everyone else's food, mac n cheese was flavorless. The table next to us tried to speak to a manager, who was dismissive with an attitude and did not seem interested in trying to make anything right.

I hate to post a negative review for a place that seems to be making significant efforts to cater to vegans (vegan marked on menus, multiple options for each type of service -Breakfast, lunch, dinner). But it was just bad in so many ways. My family was past due for lunch and looking to get out of the heat for a bit. We were excited to see that in addition to lots of outdoor tables, there was some indoor air conditioned seating. I asked if they were still serving breakfast items or lunch only -they checked and breakfast was still being served. We were told to have a seat and they'd come to us. We noticed at least 5 workers behind the counter, not seeming busy (chatting together). We sat (with two small kids) and waited. The server for the only other table inside came to them 3 or more times as they were out of some things and she didn't know the answers to their question- didn't say a word to us any of those times. We wound up getting up and grabbing a menu from the front ourselves, but unfortunately it was just the smoothie menu, so the table next to us (only other people inside) gave us their menus. After a few more visits to the other table without acknowledging us, we went to the front to see if we could order. They were not serving breakfast anymore and didn't have French fries (though they were on the menu). The table next to us overheard about the fries and asked what was going to come with their chicken tender "platter" if there were no fries -she didn't know and had to go ask. Though I don't think they got an answer. My acai bowl came out before the rest of the food. was watery -thinner than most smoothies. My 8yo son's Mac and cheese had no flavor. Luckily the baby will eat anything pasta, so she ate it. My husband's beyond burger was raw in the middle and came with no side. We ate as much of it as we could and then went to get french fries to tide us over until our next meal. The table next to us had their food brought out and was not happy. The gluten free wrap was open and had very little filling. Their chicken tender "platter" came with just the tenders. She took the inedible wrap off and was attempting to eat the little bit of filling because they were very hungry. The mom went to ask the manager about the wrap. The manager came immediately back with an attitude and didn't try to accommodate them or make things better. They have like 4-5 pages of menu items plus a whole case of baked goods. Perhaps they'd do better with a smaller men

It sad to go and spend money on your vacation on bad food. People making money in the food business should be ashamed of themselves serving paying costumers bad, tasteless and to overpriced food. This place should maybe consider only serving 5-10 dishes the whole day and make them good and edible. We unfortunately stopped by there last night and ordered 3 things to try and let me tell you how disappointed we were.It didn’t have taste nor was it made with some sense of knowing how to cook the most simple dishes ever. The homemade focaccia bread was a piece of sponge and tasteless veggies. The “vegan” pulled pork was the one dish that good have been good yet, again disappointment. How can you overlook spaghetti and make a peanut sauce that doesn’t taste like peanuts but just lime/lemon??It was 1000% reheated and it was meant for someone else that didn’t want it and it was served to us.Just get a good cook to make your food and again serve only couple of simple dishes that way you don’t have to throw out all the food that no one ate at the tables around us or us.It’s sad that people starve for food yet this place makes horrible food and as a customer you pay and are sad at the same time because it has to be thrown away, because it’s not enjoyable.I wouldn’t eat here again even if they offered everything for free.Get your grip together and make better food and don’t make customers enjoying their vacation come to your place and make them have that bad memory while dining with you guys.

We've been coming to OC beach this year and always want to try something new in the area. Bashful Banana is tucked away in a small area with other store front and tables with chairs are out front to chill outside. Small little store with just enough space for a few people inside to order what you'd like. Everyone is very kind and helpful with ordering and the whole menu is on the counter for a closer look. I ordered the Pina Colada Whip & my girl got the Peanut Butter Cup. Pina Colada was layered with everything you'd find in the drink at the bar. Bits and pieces of pineapple, shredded coconut throughout and the blended up bananas. Every bite you're getting a bit of everything and with the cool whip piled on makes it so much better. The Peanut Butter Cup was her dream. Being a peanut butter lover she was very pleased with it. The creamy peanut butter in the middle and chocolate chips in the bananas was on point. We will definitely be back for this healthy treat

I love the Bashful Banana! I've been going here since I was a little kid and it's still just a charming as I remember. How can you go wrong with banana custard? Definitely check it out if you're in the boards, note, it's not in the main part of the boardwalk, it's a little offshoot of the boards.
