I'm deeply disappointed with my recent experience at Varsity Inn. I arrived with my fully trained and clearly identified service animal, who assists me with a medical condition. Despite calmly explaining the legal rights surrounding service animals, the staff/owner refused us entry, claiming "no pets allowed." This is not only incorrect--it's a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Businesses are legally required to allow service animals that are trained to perform tasks related to a person's disability. The refusal showed a clear lack of training and understanding of the law, as well as a lack of basic compassion and respect. What makes this even more frustrating is that the restaurant has a sign right on the door that says "Service Animals Only". Clearly, they understand the law well enough to post it, but not enough to actually follow it. The hypocrisy and lack of proper staff training are extremely concerning. I had been looking forward to dining here (again as we were allowed to dine with my service dog here the year before) but instead left feeling humiliated and frustrated. I hope the owner takes this seriously and educates their staff so no one else has to go through this experience. Until then, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone--especially those in the disability community. We left and walked a few blocks over to "Hooked on Breakfast" where we were more than welcome and enjoyed an amazing breakfast. UPDATE: Part of his answer to me review on yelp "It’s left up to the establishment to watch the behavior of the animal and the owner to make their best judgment if the animal is assisting with a disability." I guess I didn't look disabled enough. Service animals are protected by federal law. You don't have the right to "guess" if someone looks disabled.

We've eaten at VI several times but not recently. The portions were hardy, the service was good. The flavors were ok. Breakfast quality is dependent on who's cooking it usually. Place needs a good cleaning.

For some reason it took me 19 years of being in OC to finally go here this morning. What a place! Can’t wait to come back. Big portions of delicious food and extremely nice staff. Can’t ask for anything more. Definitely want to try sitting in the window area seats next time

On a side note, I love how this place defends its staff in the negative reviews.

Pretty weak breakfast sandwich one piece of pork roll it tastes fine but it’s on a very plain bagel I’ve made better ones at home when I’m in Jersey I expect a phenomenal bagel it was also $3 extra to upgrade to a fruit cup
$13 for a little fruit cup and the sandwich

The Varsity Inn is an Ocean City breakfast staple. The environment is upbeat with college sports pennants adorning the walls. They have a good sized breakfast menu, and I ordered the a special that included two eggs, two pancakes, two bacon strips, and a sausage link. It was a nice portion and tasted very good. I really enjoyed my meal. There’s a reason why this restaurant gets very crowded. I highly recommend a breakfast at The Varsity Inn.
