A hidden gem! So delicious, & while the amazing chef/owner may initially seem prickly, he’s really wonderful. Take your time— this food can’t be rushed. Highly recommended. BYOB.
Went on a recommendation. He seemed particular in general for sure but after understanding his deameaner we loved it. The food was amazing, he is highly skilled at what he does and takes great care to his art. Ordered the vg eggplan manousse and lentils
Authentic and special❤️We are also business owners and appreciate the relaxing atmosphere and delicious food. Everything fresh and made with care.
Amazing delicious food thank you chef Mohammed
I treated myself to the cafe 28 special for lunch. I'm so full but if I had extra falafel I probably wouldn't stop eating. Delectable. Surprisingly scrumptious. I am thankful I live around the corner so the falafel will be mine.
I got the famous Egyptian rice dish very good love the flavor of the sauce. Very nice owner. Would recommend.
Love this place.
We’ve been going here for years now and the chef and owner, Mohammed, has hands down the best food in the area. The food is carefully prepared and everything he serves is authentic. The atmosphere is quaint and quiet and is our weekly go-to when we go out to dinner. We recommend the lamp chops, lebnah, red pepper dip, halloumi salad, hummus, and anything made with shrimp or fish.
Always a favorite - delicious vegetarian options are particularly appealing - but lots of options from seafood to meat!

The reason this restaurant has so many high stars is because the food is excellent and prepared and presented beautifully and tastes delicious too, but a bit over-priced. If you SEE A LOW RATING, you will notice that all those comments are directly related to the owner's attitude, disposition and arrogant table-side manners. This owner actually took my COMPLIMENT (which was in the form of question) the wrong way and obviously way out of context. His response was nasty, unkind, rude and totally embarrasing. He responded to me, right in front of our whole table - everyone was stunned and silent, and I especially was shocked at his reaction and more so his body language.
I then (due to the embarassment) tried to mask it by thinking, he has to be joking with me, so I actually tried to clarify what I was trying to imply. Again, he just stood there (like a repremanding soldier) and repeated his previous nasty reply, looking me straight in the eyes and began his second response with...
"AS I JUST SAID TO YOU AND I WILL REPEAT" - who the hell talks like that to a paying patron, especially when throughout the meal he was told how delicious the food was?
In my opinion, he clearly does not like Americans and must be a very unhappy man and that was my take on it!! So be careful, if you go there, you will likely really enjoy the food, pay a bit more, and have zero friendliness coming from your Owner, Chef, Waiter (who is this guy doing it all). Don't expect friendly ambiance as this is not the place for kindness, friendliness nor welcoming table-side behavior, coming from the only person who should be giving just that!! No hello greetings, nothing! Just place your order and sit without comment. ???????????? God Forbid!
I hated to have to write this review, as I love giving great reviews but he totally had it coming, to speak to a woman, much less anyone in that dispicable manner, for what was intended to be a big compliment, simply taken the wrong way.
People are mean in the is world and yet if you look at one of his reviews, where he states...he is with GOD???? GOD WOULD NOT APPROVE OF THAT BEHAVIOR OR TREATMENT TO OTHERS. Little did he know that I am about to undergo an operation while also dealing with my 95 year old mother in the hospital. We all have our baggage and that is why we should all be kind and polite to one another - it goes a long long way. Bad reviews like this only make you not to want to return but increases the odds that you will tell others what happened and that is nothing more than bad advertising for free. This guy owes me an apology, if he ever wants my business again. And if I get one - I will acknowledge that in a review as well, to demonstrate that he does read his reviews and takes them to heart. I will forgive him.
Nobody deserves embarassment like that - IT RUINED THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE OF EATING THERE ENTIRELY.

We were the first to sit down for early lunch. The best falafel I have had in memory. The owner/chef/waiter made you feel like you were in his home. Easy to recommend. All at the table loved their meals.
Vegetarian options: plenty of options given this is a Mediterranean menu

Just had lunch at Cafe 28 and it was a wonderful experience all around. The Chef/Owner, Mohammed, is a sweet and gentle soul as well as a top rate chef. We had a platter that had the creamiest hummus and babaganoush, moist and tender chicken that was perfectly grilled, falafel patty that melted in my mouth, thin sliced grilled or pan roasted eggplant with a delicate tzatziki sauce. Everything was seasoned to perfection using the finest spices and fresh herbs like dill and parsley. We also enjoyed the beet salad and the chicken salad wrap (served on lavash). The weather was perfect so we sat outside. I highly recommend this cafe if you enjoy fresh and delicious Mediterranean cuisine.

First-time dining here, subtle flavors, excellent Mediterranean meal of lamb shank, grilled vegetables and tasty rice. Rice pudding like I’ve never here before. Top 10 meal of my life. Clean restroom. I’ll be back soon.
This is a joke of a place. I have no idea how these reviews are real.
Truly one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant. The service is horrible. Food is sub par. There needs to be a 0 star option.
I wouldn’t even be writing this review if the gentleman didn’t harsh my husband when he asked about the 2-3% credit card transaction fee because nothing was stated on the bill about it or menu. We would have given cash if we even knew…
The gentleman came at it as this is so normalized and “everyone does it.” Which isn’t true but that’s a different topic. I then questioned on why did he add a 20% tip automatically/ default on the bill for 4 people without letting customers know. There is no where that this is stated. Also he justified saying that “this is normal.” The way the gentleman spoke is absolutely horrible and can see him then come out with other bills he has gotten saying “others do it”… WHAT.
I am shocked.
Literally yesterday I was at a Michelin star restaurant in NY and had such a pleasurable time and PAID THE SAME AMOUNT EATING THERE AND HERE.
Please save yourself and go literally anywhere else.
On top of that the gentleman was racist and saying “I don’t know where you are from, but this is the case here.” Sir, we are from here…
I am traumatized by this experience.
This is not only just about day time “legal”robbery of what he is doing but how he treats people. It was a question that could have just been answered politely but he was argumentative and angry. Just be upfront with this … that way customers can decide if they even want to come into the establishment.
Vegetarian options: Horribly indicated and some of the items aren’t even put correctly on VG
