This place is a local hidden gem. There isn’t shortage of mega bakeries and Korean cafes in Fort Lee and Palisades Park. But to me, this place stands out.

It looks like the owner of this cafe put his/her soul and spirit into everything in the cafe. From little interior props to utensils to home made madeleines. All beverages and the food, even boiled eggs and spicy kimbop, were super tasty. And the best : this place is relatively quiet. I’ve been longing for a cafe like this for a long time. I will be a frequent visitor.

This place doesn't allow you to talk on the phone, they're racist, and they threw away my takeout food. 😡😡😡

You didn’t even realize that it wasn’t the person who was there in your store and although I noticed that you weren’t respectful at all with my partner because I could hear the people around, I don’t understand why when I turned down the sound on the phone if we weren’t even talking constantly, but even so I’m still upset how a person talks about respect if in the end you were very rude, I’m not interested in going back to a place like that to pick up orders either, from what I see you have reviews for the same thing👍 I know it’s not the first time something like this happens

I don’t go a day without ordering my favorite Mocha Ball Latte from this gem of a coffee shop. The cream they use for their Einspanner-style drinks is incredibly dreamy—so rich and smooth that I always ask for extra, and they happily oblige. They even throw in extra mocha ball toppings, which makes my drink even more indulgent.

Another staple for me is their Lalabucks, a deliciously smooth coffee-flavored milk made with Battenkill Farms milk, which I really appreciate for its quality. Their Shot Choo—a citrusy seltzer with coffee—is also a refreshing and unique pick-me-up that I’ve come to love. When I’m in the mood for a sweet treat, I go for the Basque Cheesecake.

Beyond the amazing drinks and treats, what sets this place apart is the way they treat their customers. It’s a truly well-run business, and since I order often, they recognize my loyalty with small treats from time to time and usually cute handwritten notes—a thoughtful touch that makes me love them even more.

Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for exceptional coffee, delicious sweets, and warm, friendly service!

Cute cafe! Tried their Lotus latte: crushed Lotus cookies, brown sugar, espresso, milk, and homemade whipped cream. It was lightly sweet and absolutely delicious. It was quiet on this Friday afternoon with some customers working / studying.

I called Café Lara today to place a to-go order and specifically mentioned that I was with my dog. I asked them to have my order ready in advance so I could quickly pick it up without any issues. The staff member on the phone told me to come by in about two minutes, so I arrived around four minutes later.

When I went to the counter to pay, the owner rudely yelled at me, telling me to leave immediately because dogs were not allowed. I explained that I didn’t know about the policy and that I had already informed the staff over the phone about my dog. I also made it clear that I was only there to pick up my order and would leave right away after paying. Despite this, she kept shouting, “Just leave now!” as if I were some kind of crazy person.

I was absolutely shocked and offended by her behavior. I had already communicated everything over the phone, so I don’t know if there was a miscommunication with the staff, but I wasn’t even trying to dine in—I just wanted to pick up my pre-ordered food and leave. The way she screamed at me was beyond rude and completely unacceptable.

This is not the first time I’ve heard about the owner snapping at customers when she’s busy, and unfortunately, this wasn’t my first bad experience either. I’ll be warning my family and friends in New Jersey to stay away from this place because of the owner’s horrible attitude. If you don’t want to be treated with disrespect, I highly recommend avoiding this café.

I started stopping by for breakfast a few times a week before work a month or so back and the food and coffees been great every time. The owner and other staff are also super friendly and the cafe in general has a nice relaxed neighborhood cafe vibe; highly recommend to anyone in the area
