“I wasn't going to share this place with anyone because I don't want it to get crowded but I have to bc I love it so much. Presenting my new watering hole in Bergen! The location is where the old 21 used to be, on the top floor of the Son Jjajang building. Great happy hour everyday 4-8!! It's a steal considering how good the food is. Happy hour all types of soju are $8.99 and beers are cheap too. All the big dishes on the happy hour menu are between $14-$18 and I think the portion sizes are the same! I have yet to try something that I don't love on the menu. Their: Cheese buldak (fire chicken w/ mozzarella cheese.. ask for medium spicy if you can't do heat!) Jogae sujebi (Korean version of.. gnocchi? in clam broth..I always order another side of sujebi) Donkatsu (breaded & fried pork cutlet) Tofu & kimchi Ddukbokki (spicy rice cakes... I usually ask for cheese on this also lol) Tong dak (whole fried chicken) Gaeran mari (Korean cheese omlette w/ fried garlic on top) Budae jjigae (Korean army soup, goes great with soju!) and weirdly enough their giant plate of FRIES (idk what they do to those fries they're just fries but they're so good lol) are among some of my favorites. However, the food tends to be on the spicier side which isn't an issue for me, but if you can't handle too much spice be sure to tell your waiter. I can't say enough about how good the food is. The chef apparently refuses to use anything but the best ingredients and it shows in the taste of the food. Portions are big too! Obviously I eat here a lot... lol Oh and the servers and manager are all so nice!! One time we had a big party of 10 but they didn't have space so they put us in their only karaoke room in the back. We wanted to watch the US Open but we couldn't figure out the TV in the room so the manager found an HDMI cable and hooked his own cellphone up to it so we could watch. How sweet?!! At the moment they only serve soju and beer but I have been told that they will start offering liquor soon :) Like I said, I don't want this place to get crowded but they deserve the business with food and service like this. I hope they stick around and become a new staple in Pal Park! PS. The menu is entirely in Korean so bring a friend who is fluent or ask the waiters for suggestions! I will definitely have to mention to them that they should make an English version of their menu. Will be back with pictures later!”

“I recently discovered this restaurant through a friend, and it has quickly become my favorite Korean BBQ spot.

The pork belly and fresh duck BBQ are simply the best I've ever had. The pork belly is served with four different sauces, each adding its own unique flavor, while the fresh duck is incredibly tender and delicious.

One of the highlights is the fried rice prepared at the end of the meal. A left-handed staff member with a topknot hairstyle works magic with a pair of scissors, cutting up the remaining pork belly and expertly stir-frying it with kimchi, seaweed, and rice right on the grill. It's the best Korean BBQ fried rice I've had in Palisades Park.

What makes the experience even better is the warm hospitality. The owner always greets guests with a big smile, and the entire staff is friendly, attentive, and welcoming.

This is my favorite place for pork belly and duck BBQ, and it has become a small weekly tradition for me after a round of golf. Highly recommended!”

“I am absolutely delighted with the experience.
We visited for a family gathering and were shown to a private room; the service was attentive, and they kept refilling the delicious side dishes.
The sashimi was fresh, as was all the seafood. There was a wide variety of tasty accompanying dishes, and the staff were all friendly.
The aged kimchi was particularly outstanding—the assorted sashimi paired with it was truly delicious.
The portions were so generous that they even packed up the spicy fish stew for us to take home.
It was a truly enjoyable and delicious meal.
Thank you.”

So Moon Nan Jip 238 Broad Ave, Palisades Park Korean • $$

“Come here for an authentic Korean bbq experience.

This place has been a staple in Palisades for apparently 31 years, I’ve been here many times for the last 10 years, finally al getting around to writing a review.

If you’re new to kbbq, simply get their bbq combo, and that’ll be a good intro to the experience. If you’re more experienced and know what meat you like and accompanying dishes then go à la carte. They cook the meat for you and it the meat cooks relatively fast so be prepared to eat so the meat is not overcooked sitting on the grill.

Service and experience is similar to what you would get if you visited Korea. All right good spot, balanced, no fuss, and good selection of dishes to make the bbq complete.”

“Food tastes very authentic. Portion is ok since each skewer is pretty cheap. Order 20-30 small skewers would be enough for one person. There are bigger sized lamb and beef skewers available as well for $3.5 or $4.5 each skewer. Also if you don’t want to cook the food your self. You can ask them to cook for you and bring it to the table.”

Pizza X Cafe 141 W Central Blvd, Palisades Park Cafe • $

“Appreciation post😃 Since 4 days my freshly turned teenage daughter has been saying one thing when I ask her what you want to do on New Year’s Eve …” I want to have kudos bubble tea as the last thing I drink in 2022”. It’s been a tough few months for her and i wanted to make sure she gets her wish. So yesterday morning I called kudos. Asked when they will close for the day. They said 10pm. We scheduled all our plans in such a way that at 9pm we go and get the much anticipated bubble tea. At 9 my husband, son and daughter headed out to kudos… only to find that they have closed at 7 for a private event. This is my back story. On the other side of the story… which probably has its own back story… Cherie the owner had shut the bakery as her daughter wanted to celebrate with her friends and family. As a mother myself I can totally understand that. When she saw my family she informed them that they are closed. But when she heard we had called in morning and saw my daughters dejected face… she opened her doors. Made a quick bubble tea and even gave some extra cookies as a New Years treat. My kids came back so happy saying “mommy it was a holiday miracle!” Thank you Kudo Society Cafe. For providing us one last 2022 miracle. Thank you Cherie for understanding. We have been Kudos patrons since it was at palisades park but now we are die hard advocating neighbors of yours. Ps: pic of the cookie treat. My son ate the red velvet on way home.”

The staff has changed over the years but they have always been very friendly and service is always pretty fast. A lot of also people come here for their sweetened ice coffee, which I find to be a treat. They also offer bakery items as well as premade cold-cut sandwiches and gimbab (Korean rice roll). I recently notice them having Portuguese-style egg tarts too. It's located in the hart of downtown Palisades Park. Street parking only and sometimes it's hard to come by.”

“This is genuinely good Guatemalan food. We had the beef soup and ordered steak also but the portions of meat in the soup was so generous we didn’t even get too the steaks so we took them home. Service was very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was very informal. Some guys were watching soccer on the big screen tv and others were sitting alone, no one bothered anyone. I’m definitely going back for that soup as the winter sets in harder.

Arirang Rice Cake 212 Broad Ave, Palisades Park Korean • $

“I didn't even know I liked rice cakes until I had the ones at Arirang. Rice cakes are typically dense, chewy blocks that, to me, never seemed worth the blood sugar spike. But my mom and sister have been raving about the rice cakes here for the longest time, and I finally managed to give them a try recently.

In short, they're incredible. I guess that's to be expected from a store that specializes in just one thing, but I immediately noticed a stark difference between these and the ones they sell at Asian supermarkets. Rice cakes (especially ones that have been on the shelves for some time) can be hard and tough, at worst erring toward the experience of chewing gum. Arirang's rice cakes are incredibly soft, both to the touch and in the mouth. Imagine the softest mochi-like texture giving way to a cloud of sweetness (the level of which depends on which kind of rice cake you get).

I'm a new fan of the fruit rice cakes, the likes of which I haven't seen in any other shop. The outside is powdery and tender, with a sweet, fruit filling that I found extremely moreish. My mom ordered a variety pack of red-bean filled rice cakes, which were also excellent.

The variety of rice cakes in this shop are a little overwhelming, but they're reasonably priced (especially for a specialty shop), so if you're fiending for some rice cakes - or are interested in trying them for the first time - I would absolutely recommend stopping by Arirang.

(Note: no seating space inside - takeout only)”

“I come across this place through Yelp and the presentation of the bingsu looks really pretty there. However, it looks like they don't do that pretty presentation anymore. “This eel restaurant was absolutely fantastic. The grilled eel was incredibly fresh, tender, and full of flavor, with a perfectly balanced sweet and savory sauce. You could really taste the quality of the ingredients.

The portions were generous, and the eel was grilled just right crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The side dishes were also well prepared and complemented the main dish nicely.

“Biko Curry in NJ is a carb-lover’s dream 🍛 Everything is super rice-friendly and satisfying. The Seafood Curry Rice comes with big tempura shrimp, extra shrimp pieces, and squid in a rich curry topped with crispy garlic chips—very flavorful but not spicy even at medium heat. The rosé tteokbokki is creamy, cheesy, and addictive, and the Cheese Don Katsu has a great cheese pull without feeling too heavy. Fish cake soup is warm and comforting, and the DIY seaweed rice balls are fun and tasty. Overall, generous portions, great for sharing, around $25 per person, and convenient parking on the side.”

“While eating bossam here, I asked to take the leftovers to go. At many places, when you box food after starting a meal, they usually only pack the main dish.

But here, they thoughtfully packed everything that goes with bossam — the garlic, peppers, ssamjang, shrimp paste, and even the kimchi. It may seem like a small detail, but it honestly meant a lot to me.

I know this could be inconvenient for the servers, yet they did it without hesitation. That level of care and consideration truly impressed me. Excellent service and attention to detail — I’ll definitely be coming back.”

“We have been here a few times since it has opened on Broad Avenue. Great place to try their drinks and baked goods once you explore your options.

Came here on an early Friday morning and it was so peaceful with my Mom and babies. She complimented how big and spacious Belle Journee was and enjoyed her coffee and pastries we had for breakfast.

The cakes abd desserts are beautifully displayed in the front and probably one of my favorite parts to look at. We ordered a variety of mini desserts when we first saw Belle Journee back in the Summer. We ordered different options, it was one of the big hits at my Twins baby shower back in August 2025. Different flavors, reasonably priced because we understood how carefully crafted every baked good was down to the flavors.

Service is friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and chill, parking is available in the back of their parking lot or you can walk from Broad Avenue. All payments accepted.”
