“The request was find the best pizza near our hotel. After comparing some reviews we headed to Urban Tomato. It’s in a neighborhood setting across from a church. The restaurant decor is simple but comfortable with a great hosts. We never felt cramped. The boys enjoyed a chicken pizza half garlic and half bbq drizzle and my wife and I enjoyed a fungi white pizza that was out of this world. I continue to say this, if g-d had given Jersey the water, their pizza would be king.”

“Cute and moderately sized place. Some dishes were mediocre and others I would get again; the yook gae jang noodles (spicy beef and vegetables) were amazing - the broth was especially great. The fried beef and steamed beef dumplings were just OK as well as the spicy rice cake noodle stir fry (wasn't spicy and little sweet). The chicken noodles are just OK as well.
There is street parking but metered.”

“I wasn't going to share this place with anyone because I don't want it to get crowded but I have to bc I love it so much. Presenting my new watering hole in Bergen! The location is where the old 21 used to be, on the top floor of the Son Jjajang building. Great happy hour everyday 4-8!! It's a steal considering how good the food is. Happy hour all types of soju are $8.99 and beers are cheap too. All the big dishes on the happy hour menu are between $14-$18 and I think the portion sizes are the same! I have yet to try something that I don't love on the menu. Their: Cheese buldak (fire chicken w/ mozzarella cheese.. ask for medium spicy if you can't do heat!) Jogae sujebi (Korean version of.. gnocchi? in clam broth..I always order another side of sujebi) Donkatsu (breaded & fried pork cutlet) Tofu & kimchi Ddukbokki (spicy rice cakes... I usually ask for cheese on this also lol) Tong dak (whole fried chicken) Gaeran mari (Korean cheese omlette w/ fried garlic on top) Budae jjigae (Korean army soup, goes great with soju!) and weirdly enough their giant plate of FRIES (idk what they do to those fries they're just fries but they're so good lol) are among some of my favorites. However, the food tends to be on the spicier side which isn't an issue for me, but if you can't handle too much spice be sure to tell your waiter. I can't say enough about how good the food is. The chef apparently refuses to use anything but the best ingredients and it shows in the taste of the food. Portions are big too! Obviously I eat here a lot... lol Oh and the servers and manager are all so nice!! One time we had a big party of 10 but they didn't have space so they put us in their only karaoke room in the back. We wanted to watch the US Open but we couldn't figure out the TV in the room so the manager found an HDMI cable and hooked his own cellphone up to it so we could watch. How sweet?!! At the moment they only serve soju and beer but I have been told that they will start offering liquor soon :) Like I said, I don't want this place to get crowded but they deserve the business with food and service like this. I hope they stick around and become a new staple in Pal Park! PS. The menu is entirely in Korean so bring a friend who is fluent or ask the waiters for suggestions! I will definitely have to mention to them that they should make an English version of their menu. Will be back with pictures later!”

“The “House Malatang” was sooo delicious. And reasonably priced! (How it works is you choose the vegetables and meats that you want, bring them to the counter, choose your soup, and they cook it all up and bring it to you) Definitely going again ?”

“This place was recommended by my chef friend Jesse and it is amazing. My wife loves Korean cold noodles and the broth is killer at this place. Love how you can drink it hot first and then have it with your cold noodles. If you don’t feel like noodles, they have more options like kalbi, stew, bibimbap and more. Order at the cashier and wait for your number to be called. Service is fast and efficient but the food is the star.”

“I’ve been coming to Donghae for about 4 years. They’re always consistent in providing great service and fresh food. The owners along with the workers are ver my friendly. As you come often, they start to recognize you and thank you for your loyalty. I’ve recommended this place to a few friends and they’ve all been satisfied. Best fresh sashimi set you can get in nj for sure.”

“Humble sushi spot with wife and husband pair inside a Korean catering store(Eun Ha Soo) that sells all things Korean including side dishes, packaged meals etc.

Fish quality and service is phenomenal. You can tell they care through food. I get the sushi and sashimi platter all the time and they never disappoint. Definitely a good local small business to support.
Important update from the owners that they do close by 8:30pm and on Tuesdays instead of the listing on google.

“The service at the front was lacking. We arrived but were neither greeted nor instructed to put our name on the waitlist, leading to a wait of over 30 minutes for a table. The skewers were okay; despite my craving for them, they didn’t quite hit the spot and lacked spice and a kick. I found the eggplant dish to be better than the skewers. Overall, it’s worth trying at least once, but I’m not sure if I’d return, especially given the long wait times. Also, remember to bring cash for a discount.”

“The chicken was so tender and thoroughly cooked. It was very delicious and warm. The woman on the phone is very sweet and deserves a raise! My father is picky and hates ordering because he thinks it’s a waste of money. But when we order from here, he said it was absolutely 100% worth the money. My children loved it as well. “I really liked the food that I got here. When we went, the hotpot stuff was not available so the owner just told us to order off the menu. He reco'ed the gamjatang and it was really good. The meat was so soft and it slid right off. I particularly liked the veggies in there. I also got the bibim guksu (spicy cold noodles). I told the owner I wanted naemyeon so he recommended the bibim guksu. It was really flavourful. Also - who can say no to unlimited kimchi! Highly reco this place. The portions were great for really good prices. And the owner was very nice!”

“I tried their Taro vanilla milk tea, it was so tasty, I also tried the dalgona milk tea, which was 4.5/5 , it tasted moe like biscoff than anything else. The tapioca pearls were the best though. I also tried the white bean pastry, i give that a 1/5, however my partner loved it. I tried 4 macarons: the white chocolate tasted like straight up butter, the honey lavander tasted like essential oil, the coconut macaron tasted good but slightly old, my favorite was the creme brulee macaron. Overall, I'd try the other macarons I was curious about and a different drink. The owner is very nice guy.”

“Returning to Izakaya Kumade after a long time away was like rediscovering a hidden gem, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. The food brought back memories but also surprised with new levels of flavor and quality.

I started with the Nagasaki, which was perfectly balanced—rich and comforting, with a depth of umami that only authentic Japanese flavors can deliver. Next, the salted pollock roe cream udon was a delightful highlight. The creamy sauce, infused with the subtle, savory essence of pollock roe, coated each udon noodle beautifully. It was a unique dish that really set Kumade apart, embodying the best of traditional flavors with a modern twist.

To complement the meal, I enjoyed a classic Suntory Highball, which was refreshingly crisp and balanced, enhancing the flavors of the dishes without overpowering them. But what truly stood out was the Suntory Premium Draft beer. This was, without exaggeration, one of the creamiest drafts I've ever had—the texture was silky smooth, with a subtle malt sweetness and a perfectly frothy head.

Izakaya Kumade has managed to retain its authenticity while continuing to surprise and impress. For anyone craving Japanese izakaya-style dishes, paired with impeccable drinks, this place remains a top-tier choice in NJ. Highly recommended!”

“This is my second time visiting Jeong Yook. I came with my family, total of 8 people. We ordered two premium beef combos, pork belly, squid noodles and small intestine soup. The food and service were pretty good. We were definitely full, it was around $500. The quality of the food is amazing. I’ll definitely come back’

“Kudos Society has AMAZING desserts. I ordered the brownies (Red Velvet & choc. walnut), carrot cake (WOW!!) & "tres leches" (AWESOME!!) and they were all, excuse the cliché, "to die for." The featured pastry chef was "Chef Maggie" and I'm guessing anything she makes is also pretty incredible. We only got take out but the ambiance was really nice inside & the staff was super friendly as well (we even got to say hi to Chef Maggie & she was super cool!)”

“Family owned small business that offers the best soulongtang (beef bone soups) and sundaeguk (blood sausage soups) in the neighborhood. Their prices have gone up since I first started going here years ago but the soup is still great and a decent value. The shop is no-frills with a few table tops and stools. Everything use to be $10 and then during the pandemic, prices varied and I didn't like that they didn't have their prices posted but now they do which is much more transparent. Their menu is still in Korean so you might need the help of Google Translate if you can't read Hangul.”

Food comes out relatively quickly but the price is a bit high, I had the Kuro Ninniku Ramen which is their signature ramen with black garlic soup base. The broth was very good and very tasty however the portion could have been larger for the price charged, there was only one very small baby back rib. They do however provide Kirkland bottled water instead of tap water.

Overall it is a good restaurant with good food and good staff but the price is a tad high and portions could be a bit larger.”

“Press sandwich chain from South Korea. I have been a customer since they open many years ago. They have both sweet and savory options, their bulgogi beef and spicy chicken are my favorite. The staff has changed over the years but they have always been very friendly and service is always pretty fast. A lot of also people come here for their sweetened ice coffee, which I find to be a treat. They also offer bakery items as well as premade cold-cut sandwiches and gimbab (Korean rice roll). I recently notice them having Portuguese-style egg tarts too. It's located in the hart of downtown Palisades Park. Street parking only and sometimes it's hard to come by.”

“This is genuinely good Guatemalan food. We had the beef soup and ordered steak also but the portions of meat in the soup was so generous we didn’t even get too the steaks so we took them home. Service was very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was very informal. Some guys were watching soccer on the big screen tv and others were sitting alone, no one bothered anyone. I’m definitely going back for that soup as the winter sets in harder.

“Everything was great - just wish the tables were cleaner as we had to wipe them down before sitting. Also wish the prices were a little more friendly for certain items like the cookies (they are $5.50 for one before tax!)
My favorites are the black sesame and grain bingsoo. Also some of them like the green tea strawberry are on the bland side when you get them in the cup as opposed to the big bowl.”

“On a Tuesday afternoon, I was craving soup, so I came with my wife, asked what the new menu was delicious, and had brisket jjamppong. Spicy Jjamppong, a white soup with plenty of bean sprouts, chives, and brisket... Wow, this is my first time trying it, but it's the style I like.. My wife and I ate it to our heart's content. It was a Tuesday so it wasn't busy so the food came out quickly and the server brought us onions and pickled radish right away so it was a pleasant meal out for the first time in a while.”
