Cafe Oak on Broad Ave in Palisades Park is much more than just drinks and pastries — it’s a true mecca for Korean sushi, better known as kimbap. The selection is impressively diverse, with a wide range of options that all look tempting. I tried three different varieties, each priced at $8.50 or more — not exactly cheap, but all were quite tasty.
That said, a quick heads-up: the rice tends to be on the slightly mushy side. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that — it’s just a matter of personal preference. I happen to prefer my kimbap rice a bit firmer, while others might enjoy the softer, more moist texture.
With so many excellent kimbap spots in the area, it really comes down to your taste. If you like a softer-style roll, Cafe Oak might just be your new favorite.
Someone recommended I try rice-free kimbap, so I gave it a shot. Honestly, it's not bad as a diet option. I also tried the mustard kimbap—but speaking as someone with high standards, I wouldn’t really call this a proper kimbap place. The rice (what little there was) felt just slapped on, and the anchovy kimbap was a bit too salty. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it.
Coffee and food are good, and the staff are nice as well. But the place itself always feels a bit unsettled and cluttered for a cafe to chill. It's more like a deli shop with various coffee menus.
Tiramisu cloud 9 is the best coffee I ever had 🥹 that creamy sweet salty foam is amazing 10/10
Some of the best drink I’ve ever had omg
Craving coffee, bubble tea, waffles, kimbap, udon, street food, and even toy machines? Thankfully, this place has it all and more!
Whether you're with kids, on a family outing, hanging out with friends, or just looking to recharge solo, this spot is perfect for any occasion.
The food is great, made fresh right before your eyes, and the prices are very reasonable.
For my part, I had my beloved hazelnut latte, while my husband went for a classic straight coffee. The kid opted for cold brew and a matcha bingsoo. If you’ve never had bingsoo, you’re in for a treat! The presentation alone is a work of art, featuring a fish-shaped serving of matcha-filled ice cream, topped with matcha ice cream, red beans, mochi, nuts, and light, fluffy ice shavings. One word: sublime!
The staff is friendly and great at making recommendations. They also know how to brew a perfect cup of coffee: strong, just the way we like it.
The space is well-maintained, and parking is metered, so keep that in mind.
Street toast was really good before. How can they serve this to customer? Look at this burnt bread. The cashier was so rude also.
The matcha bingsoo was really good

The boba was one of the best I ever had and just because the boba isn’t like gongcha’s doesn’t mean that its bad. The claw machines were super fun and the toys are very high quality. THE KIMBAP IS AWSOME! Very recommended!?
Kid-friendliness: My kids enjoyed the workers very much!
They handle many situation (long story involving a car crash with the owner) professionally and their drink was amazing. I wish everyone the best.

I'm staying at Palpark for a while and stopping by all the cafes. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed.

My partner and I took my nephew and nieces here for bubble tea. Each of us ordered different flavors. My nephew ordered lemonade since he's not a fan of bubble tea. The staff was friendly. She answered all our questions and was patient with us. There were seatings so we were able to sit and wait for our order. Now the reason for two less star. Too much sugar. We all agreed our bubble teas were way too sweet. Even the lemonade had too much sugar. I got taro and I was too overwhelmed with the sugar to even enjoy it. I would recommend informing them how sweet you want your bubble tea. Another interesting thing was my taro bubble tea had a slushy consistency. It was creamy. Not actual milk tea. Same with the coconut and cookies&cream flavors. Another thing was the cookies&cream. It looked like chocolate. I'm used to seeing cookies& cream being off white with crushed Oreo looking pieces. In terms of the decor, the place is cozy. They serve shaved ice. On the weekday you can easily find seating to enjoy it. There are two arcade games inside. I found the price to play them to be pricey.

I’ve been coming here for years … until now. Injeolmi bingsu was our go-to thanks to the generous amount of ingredients, but it seems like they’ve finally succumbed to inflation and reduced the ingredient portion by a third. Now it’s just a typical milk bingsu with some sprinkles of nuts and injeolmi powder—nothing special about it. Say goodbye to the multiple layers of red bean, nuts, and injeolmi. Considering the inflation everywhere, I would have paid more as long as the quality of the dish remained the same. How disappointing.
