My 85 yr old FIL loved the freshwater eel combo. Thank you for packing the takeout order so well.

I would describe this place like a warm sweater on a cool day. We discovered this place by accident. There are only 3 tables inside, I think there are a few more in the back outside. This is some of the best grilled eel I've ever had, including in Korea and Japan, but at Palisades Park. The eel soup was surprisingly hearty and feels very home like. As I was eating everything, I felt like I was at someone's house. The side dishes are second to none. They have their own spin on things and they did a great job. This really feels like you're eating at someone's house. It's on my top Korean restaurants now

Firstly, the portion size was very small. The amount for two servings was just enough to fit on a plate around 15 cm in diameter, which was barely enough for the two of us to eat.
Secondly, the price was expensive! From previous posts, one serving was about $27.50, and they required a minimum of two servings. But today, when we went, it had increased to nearly $33, so just for the two of us to eat eel cost over $70. Considering the portion size, it was really not worth it! Additionally, previous visitors mentioned that they were given eel soup and a scallion pancake, but today we were told that the scallion pancake costs $15. Also, the grilled fish didn't come with rice, which was really disappointing.
Thirdly, the taste was poor! The key to eating grilled eel is the sauce, but the eel here had hardly any sauce at all.
The sea eel itself was dry and tough from grilling, and since it was being cooked over a fire at the table, it just got drier and drier. The salt-grilled river eel tasted really fishy, which is probably why they put so much ginger on it. This is the only place l've seen add shredded ginger to their eel. By the end, all you could taste was the ginger.
Fourthly, the service was terrible! There was only one older lady who didn't speak English serving. Throughout the meal, aside from giving us two small bottles of mineral water and a little bit of cold dishes, we hardly saw her. The side dishes she gave were extremely spicy and completely inedible. It was really disappointing.

The food is delicious. The lady is very nice. I love their seafood pancake. It’s very thick. It has a lot of squid. I think their eel is pretty fresh, not heavily seasoned. so if you like something heavily seasoned ,that might be not for you, I think generally people prefer the seasoned eel.

The food and side dishes were really great!
The owner was really sweet and nice. The service was great as the owner provided more refills of side dishes if needed but even provided toddler friendly utensils for my son.
The taste of the eel reminded me of when I had it in Korea. They did a really good job of cooking it. I couldn't take more pictures because of my son but here is one photo.

This place is my go-to spot for eel in NJ!
They grill it for you, so there’s no lingering smell, and the homemade seaweed soup and side dishes are all delicious.
The service is so friendly, and I leave satisfied every time!😇

To be honest, the food is overrated, and sadly, I don't think I would go again. The eel was dry and not in quality.
The good thing was that the price was relatively low and the owner lady was very nice.

Overall a nice little place for good Korean style bbq eel! I recommend jjol myun as well. In addition, all the side dishes are pretty good . The owner is kind and very honest. Honesty is something I can rarely see from restaurant owners especially in
K-Town these days, but she is different!
I appreciate her service and definitely recommend this place.
