The gomtang (beef bone soup) here is honestly amazing — the broth is so rich and flavorful. That said, the smell when we first walked in wasn’t great, and I noticed they were scooping the ice water from a cooler filled with ice and water, which made me a bit concerned about hygiene. Still, the food itself was really delicious.

Potato pancake and cold noodle are great. Suyuk is an excellent choice if u like boiled beef slices. Price is way cheaper than manhattan. Ox tail soup portion is about half compared to Korea. Decent taste. Ask for mustard sauce for those meats.

We were visiting NYC from out of town and on our way out we stopped here for a lunch on a breezy spring day.
My wife and daughters ordered the regular gomtang and I had the deluxe which came with more meat. The portions were perfect, and you can add salt to season to your tastes (standard for Korean gomtang, sulungtang). Contrary to the comments of another reviewer recently who clearly has no idea what the soup should be, this is reference standard Korean beef soup and if lived closer I would eat here every week.

I have been a customer here for almost a year now and today will be the last time that I order from here..
I placed a takeout order of Galbitang and Yukaejang.
When I got back to work, I opened the bag and the Galbitang inside the plastic container was COLD, like it just came straight from the refrigerator directly into the bag.
The Yukaejang was hot though.
It feels as if they have just been microwaving the food inside the plastic container to heat it up.

If there is a negative review for this restaurant then your too Americanized. This restaurant has the most amazing gomtang. Normally we come here for deluxe gomtang and regular versions and we share it with our toddler. Our toddler loved the soup so much, he learned how to drink soup at age 2.
If you get seollotang or kkoritang, you will need to add the seasoning yourself. Overall, this place has the best beef bone soup and beef rice soup.

I ordered their signature dish, the gomtang. It came out with rice already mixed in — I was shocked. I've been to countless Korean restaurants, and this is the first time I've ever seen rice served already inside the gomtang. It wasn't even mentioned on the menu, and the staff didn’t ask me about it when I ordered.
To make matters worse, gomtang is supposed to be a light beef soup, but this was unbearably salty. I couldn't eat it. I don’t even understand why there was salt on the table when the soup was already way too salty — it tasted like they had dumped salt into it.
The bowl was so big that it was hard to scoop up the rice. The broth wasn't rich or flavorful at all. They gave me a tiny portion of kimchi — seriously, it was like the size of a fingertip. The meat in the soup? Just a few small pieces. The whole thing looked like dog food.
I came here because the reviews were so good, but I was honestly stunned. For the same price, I'd rather go to Tosokchon and get their sundae-guk or pork soup — way better. I usually eat at Tosokchon, but decided to try somewhere new this time. Big mistake.
Maybe they serve this kind of salty soup to appeal to foreigners, but this isn’t gomtang. The spoon and bowl were nice, but the food? Not even worth $5. Total disappointment.

I feel bad saying this, especially since I know they’re working hard, but I went there based on reviews and was pretty disappointed. The beef bone soup tasted like watered-down broth with just some salt added—it was really salty. There were a few thin slices of beef and a generous amount of neatly chopped green onions.
I was surprised that the rice came already mixed in the soup, and the kimchi was so salty I couldn’t eat more than one piece. Why is everything so salty???
The lady working in the dining area kept asking if I was enjoying the food and if it tasted okay, but I couldn’t bring myself to answer. I figured I just wouldn’t come back, so I didn’t feel like saying anything.
On a positive note, the dishes, tray, and utensils looked pretty high-end...
