My mom's work was always so close to totowa since more than 20 years ago before they moved to this address. My mom would always buy me dinner here while i wait for her after school to go home. And so Totowa bunsik had a special place close to my heart. It just.. tasted like home for me. But a few years ago, I ordered 2 take out items and paid well over $50 - i dont know.. i just felt like i was betrayed by a childhood friend.
After years, my wife asked to give it another chance and im glad I did. Price has actually went down since then and the amount of food, quality, the taste all feels reasonable again. I'll be back for cheese donkatsu for sure.

Portions are huge and the pictures don't do them justice. Feels over priced but once you get the food and have left overs, you would feel that it was more than worth the price. The mashed potato that came with donkatsu was so good, I wish recipe was commercially available. Free ice cream at the end for dessert.
Edit: went again looking forward to the mashed potato and got a smaller scoop. Must've gotten very popular that they were running low. Must've been

Ttottowa Plus does a great job of capturing that casual, homey vibe you’d expect from a classic Korean snack shop — and the menu is impressively wide. You can order everything from jjajangmyeon and jjamppong to staples like tteokbokki and kimbap, all in one place.
I went with the Donkatsu + Jjolmyeon Combo ($33.98) and was honestly blown away by the portion size. The donkatsu comes as two cutlets the size of your face, served with cabbage salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, and a big bowl of sweet demi-glace sauce. The jjolmyeon was just as over the top — it arrived in a basin-sized bowl piled with noodles, cabbage, and cucumber. They even give you gloves to mix it because chopsticks alone wouldn’t get the job done.
One highlight was the gimmari (fried seaweed rolls). They didn’t taste like the usual store-bought version, so I asked — and the manager explained that aside from the pickled radish, most of the food here, including the kimchi and gimmari, is made in-house. That really sets this place apart.
The food isn’t necessarily “the best ever,” but it absolutely delivers that nostalgic snack-shop taste from school days, with huge portions and solid value. Perfect for families, especially if you’ve got kids with big appetites..

The staff here are courteous and attentive, always ensuring that whether you’re dining in or picking up, the experience meets expectations. The food is consistently flavorful, and I’d say their donkatsu, spaghetti, and tteokbokki are all excellent choices. It honestly reminds me of a comforting Korean home cooked meal. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the service goes above and beyond. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Food has too much sugar! I have been coming here once a month for 10 years when I come down from upstate NY. There is a new owner and now all the banchon is way too sweet. Very unhealthy and doesn’t taste like Korean food. In particular the new salad dressing, the yellow pickled radish is unedibly sweet. Soup has too much msg too.
This was so authentic

We go there a lot with my husband. However our last visit there has disappointed us like also our family. The waitress was acting like she actually didn't want to be there. We had to ask for warmer rice since they brought ours way too early, and by the time the food was served- the rice was cold already. The waitress had an attitude, making us feel not welcomed in there. Usually, we dont have that issue in there, and food is usually really good so we will be coming back for sure. Just hope the staff can be trained in better mannerism of taking care of customers.
