From the moment I walked in, the smell was unwelcoming. The table service was just as bad. I already had low expectations for the food, but it still managed to be worse.
• The white rice tasted like old pasta.
• The chicken in the taquitos was dry, in big chunks, and tasted old.
• Guacamole was passable but slightly off, and the chips were stale.
• The pozole rojo had absolutely no flavor—just watered down with bay leaves, no seasoning, not even salt.
• The sopes were soggy, greasy, and tasted like old fryer oil.
• The red salsa was tasteless, like food coloring in water, and the green salsa tasted old with zero spice.
The worst part isn’t just the bad cooking—it’s the dishonesty. Serving old, flavorless food while pretending it’s authentic Mexican cuisine is nothing but false advertising. Nothing was fresh, nothing was seasoned, and nothing was worth the money. Customers deserve honesty and respect, not this kind of insult on a plate.

I had an amazing experience here! The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was top-notch; the staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Just stopped in for a quick bite. Ended up having the Surf Tacos with shrimp and my daughter had Street Tacos with chicken. Both were outrageously good!! Ingredients were super fresh and both tacos had a ton of flavor. Can’t wait to go back and try other things on their menu.

Went to lunch with do everything coworkers. Thought it would be great to try something else. As we are waiting for our food we see a roach running around in the dining room then a guy sitting across from us stomped it then we were like gross. Let's go.

Third time here, and saw a roach crawl underneath my feet today. Lost my appetite. I usually support local businesses but they lost me and need to probably come out and inspect bugs and rodents in this place.

Best food I’ve ever had in my life!!!
I would give 100 stars if it allowed me to - unbelievably good quality, taste and I didn’t have to wait too long. Praise GOD! 🙏 so glad I found this place. I will be returning soon for sure - thank you again so much and God bless you!
Another home feel Mexican restaurant in Parsippany. Excellent food excellent choices. Well cooked meals. Had a hearty carne asada.

Food is not what one expects and worse. With the price, if the owner saw this comment, she would change the name so she wouldn't feel embarrassed, the rice looks like pasta dough, the attention is terrible.

My friend and I went there for lunch because she saw that it had fairly good ratings online. However, neither one of us was very impressed. She ordered a quesadilla and I got the fish tacos. There was hardly anything on the tacos aside from a few chopped up pieces of fish. I don't know that they were even really seasoned. They tasted okay when I added a cilantro sauce that they brought to the table. My friend felt the same way about her quesadilla. It was just okay but not terribly flavorful. We wanted to get the chorizo nachos but they didn't have any chorizo. We asked for just plain nacho chips with a little cheese on top and we got that. They charge us $8 for it which I thought was a little exorbitant. Between the two entrees, nachos and a side of plantains and two beverages, it was $46 including tax. We both felt it was expensive and very mediocre and we will not be going back.

The people at Cocina de Maria were very nice to me. I had wanted the chorizo and cheese dip but they didn't have an ingredient so they offered a beans substitute instead. I still enjoyed it but couldn't finish my food because it was so much and I had a long drive.
The tacos were great and the food felt very authentic Mexican. I don't lice close to the area but I was very happy with their hospitality and food.
