Heard about this popular place and it didn’t disappoint. We meant to go to the 64 Lexington Avenue in Passaic location but accidentally ended up in the 37 Essex St. location. There were a lot of people, take out and dine in. Seafood was fresh, tasty, and well-priced. We had Papas A La Huancaina, delicious but El Plato Marino (5 seafood dishes on one gigantic tray, beyond words- so yummy). It had ceviche, seafood yellow rice, jalea (fried seafood), almejas (clams), mariscos in yummy sauce (more seafood). It clearly is a popular dish as most every table ordered it. Amazingly only $55.!!!The service was excellent as well. Truly 4-6 people can eat from this dish! Our waitress was generous with the canchas-toasted corn (Peruvian pop-corn). They added a 20% gratuity but we were fine with it as their prices were reasonable. My only recommendation is to put a sign with the name of the restaurant by the door. They had the name of the restaurant by the parking lot but walking over to the restaurant, we were a little confused as the name did not appear on the restaurant itself. This does not affect my rating as they were exquisite in every way and we will return with friends and family. I highly recommend Leña y Carbon. 5-stars.Vegetarian options: Lots of seafoodParking: Easy parking, we sent on a Sunday do we parked on the street but we found out they also had a free parking lot for patrons. The quality of the food is good, their BBQ chicken never fails. But, the customer service just lacks in promptness and attention. Not organized when you call for pick up at the location. Hopefully it gets better. The other platters they have are pretty decent.
