I had the pleasure of trying one of the breads from this bakery at 116th street in the barrio in the Mexican street fare. I saw a table with all these delicious bread and I got one. It was so delicious that I had to share it with my friends. The only thing I didn’t like was that the people who were displaying the bread didn’t really talk much. I think if you have a table at a street fare, you should at least look like you want to be there, smile, and tell the people what kind of breads you have. They need to go to customer service training. I didn’t see a soul buying bread either.

It was a joy to visit Panaderia San Juan. The pan con helado hit the spot on a summer afternoon (portions were abundant) and the homemade Italian ice was tasty and refreshing, with a selection of tropical flavors (from coco to mango con chile). To top it off, the family which operates the bakery is friendly and incredibly generous. Worth many return trips!
