my heart is brokennnn.. this has been my favorite mom and pop spot for YEARS. Sal makes some of the best breakfast in paterson. i heard people taking about florio buying mr gs and i didn't wanna believe it... but i ride pass a lot and recently noticed a sign that pretty much signifies mr gs will no longer be there. the end of an amazing era. soooo many paterson greats ate there at least once

Great food, great prices, great owner, truly a down south soul food cooking spot. Where good friends meet is exactly correct as the owner greets you when you come in.Mr. G's is truly a cut above.

I first visited this place it was.last summer and the food was DELICIOUS!!! Not so much this past visit. I ordered Shrimp and grits....The shrimp wasn't peeled and just thrown on top of regular grits no sauce nothing. As a southern gal, I'm familiar with shrimp and grits. I asked the waitress was it common to get shrimp and grits with unpeeled shrimp, she stated you have ask for them to be peeled. She took back the order and said she was making it fresh, however, she brought it back, they recooked the shrimp from the previous bowl, and placed it over the same grits. and added no extra cheese which I was charged twice for. Needless to say the shrimp was horrible and rubbery. Eggs had no flavor, and pancakes ordered were extremely flat, tasteless and the syrup was horrible. I will not return.I saw a reply from the owners which I cant see right now. Nothing popped up for a review when I came into your establishment last year. If it had, I would have gladly given a rave review. Unfortunately you all dropped the ball this visit. And your response futhermore adds to why we will not return. I wish you all the best in your future endeavorsI can now see your reply, Last summer you were indeed NOT CLOSED. My husband and I came up from Baltimore to visit The Rim Spa . They actually referred you guys to us, and we walked down the two blocks to eat at your establishment. Again that visit was awesome, hence the reason we returned this year, unfortunately this year the results were not the same. I didn't even eat my food. My husband ate his begrudgingly, tasted my food and spit it out. Instead of making a scene or asking for a refund, we kindly paid the bill, tipped the waitress and vowed to try somewhere new on our next visit. Every business has a bad day. No need to snap back with sneed remarks. Just use it as a tool to get better. You could've easily offered to make next time more enjoyable, and I would've probably reconsidered revisiting, as our 1st visit was amazing.Dropping to one star because of Owner Reply.

This is a great local breakfast and lunch spot in Paterson. We got parking right in the front. The place was empty and we were able to sit wherever we wanted. We were also greeted as soon as we came in. Orders: Cup of coffee with half and half -- good coffee 2 Mr G Breakfast Platters - one with pork sausage and sage sausage and one with pork sausage and ham. Both had over easy eggs. The food was amazing and always is at this place. The pancakes were absolutely delicious. My fiancé said they were probably made with corn meal. Didn't matter to me they were great! Both types of sausages were also good. The sage one was new to us and the big difference was that it had a hint of spice which I enjoyed. Faith provided great service the whole time. This place has a great old school feel. Family owned business. They've made a few changes but kept the same vibe in the restaurant. Change I noticed is their new donut area which adds a nice modern touch. They also have a juke box which is pretty cool. If you're ever in town I def recommend checking this spot out!

I grew up eating at this place so it pains me to say anything bad about this place......there was only one waitress on a busy Saturday morning, the cook came and took my order, the cook got my tip.....I spent $60 for 3 people to eat ? plus the food tasted like the grill may need a lil cleaning. Like I said I grew up eating here, I hope it was a fluke, but I probably won't be back. Damn?
