Very unprofessional and unorganized. I called ahead of time to set an appointment to meet with a friend and they’re telling me i’m not on the list and i’m supposed to call between 3-4pm. The last few times I set appointments for visitations, I’ve never had this issue and there’s also the lack of transparency. They immediately shut me down and hang up before I can ask a question.

On the evening of Friday, July 17, I came to the Emergency Department at Hackensack Meridian Health in Old Bridge with chest pain. From the moment I described my symptoms, I was treated with exceptional care, compassion, and professionalism. Every member of the team made me feel that I was in capable hands, and I am deeply grateful for the excellent care I received.

The following morning, I was transferred to the South Amboy location for a stress test. I would especially like to recognize two extraordinary nurses who prepared me for the test: RN Babita and RN Lavanya.

Having worked in a hospital for 37 years, I know what outstanding patient care looks like, and I recognize excellence when I see it. RN Babita and RN Lavanya demonstrated exceptional professionalism, kindness, and genuine compassion. They took the time to explain everything, made me feel comfortable, and treated me with respect and warmth throughout the process.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank them for a job exceptionally well done. They are a true credit to Hackensack Meridian Health, and I hope they receive the recognition they so richly deserve.

With sincere gratitude,

Emma Berkovich

The worst emergency room experience I’ve ever had. Brought my son to ER for an emergent ultrasound as they suspected testicular torsion. Went here because was closest to us in an emergent situation. Made him wait almost 4 hours to get ultrasound & was certainly not treated as emergent at all!! Barely any commutation from staff. The only person that kept checking on us was a nurse named Karen. She did her best to get info to us. Waited an absurd amount of time for a doctor to go over ultrasound results with us. The doctor that went over the results was stand off-ish, cold & not helpful at all. I would never recommend anyone come here for anything.

The best experience a person could have in an Emergency Department. After days of progressive pain and symptoms, I visited the ER at Raritan Bay just after 11PM and was seen right away. My symptoms presented severe, but Adam and Rhondretta (apologies if the spelling is wrong!) made me comfortable and I immediately felt safe and in good hands. Within an hour, I was already getting some relief and had some answers. The hospital regularly sent emails with test results and what was coming next. Adam did a wonderful job at keeping me updated, explaining results and procedures, and accommodating my needs. I never felt dismissed; in fact, everything was thoroughly checked and I was discharged feeling more upbeat than I had felt in days. What was really great, though, was sitting back and noticing that every patient was receiving the same level of care as I was. The atmosphere, in general, was really welcoming and the staff worked really well together. My mother was with me, and with 40+ years in the medical field, she agreed it was a great visit. Thank you so much to the entire department and hospital for turning my night (and week) around!

I’ve been living in Perth Amboy for about 12 years. I always heard bad reviews about this place and never came. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, I’m here and everything is so clean, organized, and front desk checks you in quick.

My experience with Dr. Sheema Imran during my husband’s stay in the hospital crisis unit was extremely alarming and has caused me to seriously question her judgment and credentials as a psychiatrist. My husband has a well-documented history of schizophrenia with severe hallucinations spanning more than 10 years, yet Dr. Imran dismissed his longstanding diagnosis and insisted that he only suffered from PTSD. After changing his medications and administering what appeared to be an excessive dose, my husband became completely nonfunctional for nearly a week. He could barely speak, appeared mentally absent, stared blankly, and functioned like a complete zombie. It was as though his cognitive abilities and personality had completely disappeared for that entire period. Watching him in that condition was terrifying, and I truly feared permanent damage had been done. I understand that psychiatric treatment can vary, but disregarding a patient’s extensive psychiatric history and leaving them so heavily medicated that they appear incapable of basic functioning was deeply disturbing to witness. This experience left our family traumatized and extremely concerned.

My daughter went in for cellulitis ended up having to get appendix out. But they never explained anything. The nurses sit and do nothing. You wait for hours to get a doc to see you. The food is terrible. Nurses are loud and do not pay attention to the patients. Horrible hospital. 24 hours to discharger her. Gave her the scripts but discharged 24 hours later and couldn't get nobody to give any answers. I've never been in a hospital with no empathy no care. Just there for a paycheck.

My wife just gave birth last week and our experience with the staff was amazing! Everybody is so nice in the maternity department. They are such a great team and show compassion to all of the patients. Thank you very much! I am so happy everything was beyond positive!

I went to the emergency on 31st of Jan, with a lump in my left inner thigh with alot of pain. They ruled out blood clot and they said it was an abscess. They didn't draw blood. They prescriped me antibiotic and send me home. I finished the antibiotic. I still have the lump and still have pain. I don't get much sleep because of the pain and the leg is swollen. They told me to go to my primary doctor, which I did. My primary send me to a general surgeon and I went. My general surgeon send me to an orthopedic. My appt is not till March 13. I've been bounced around. SMH. Still no one can figure it out.

If I could give the phone service a zero I would. I called to speak to my friend to see how he was doing. I got transferred five times and the fifth person hung up on me.

The background was very noisy and the staff was not interested in taking phone calls.

Good luck if a loved one is in this hospital and you want to communicate.

Worst experience at this hospital. They will force you to stay for as many day as they can to put you in debt with their hospital bills. They will tell you that you should be good to leave just to tell you that the doctor left and you will have to stay another day and the next day they will tell you the same thing like they only have one doctor in the whole hospital than harass you with a new bill every week. Never again will I go near this hospital. I've been to saint peters and had the best experience ever as I have no insurance and did not have to worry about the bill as they them self applied for charity care for me and I did not have to anything out of pocket. Ive been to many hospitals and had the worst experience at HMH Raritan Bay Medical Center. I will not recommend this hospital to even my worst enemy.

If you are in an emergency, the last place I would recommend going to is this one. I was in very serious condition, in a very delicate situation, and when I arrived they made me wait for hours in the emergency room. After several hours, they finally came as if nothing was wrong and took me to a stretcher, and to make matters worse, they made me wait even longer for a doctor a doctor who never arrived. In the end, after a total of 8 hours of negligence, they gave me a pill, acetaminophen if I’m not mistaken, almost as if it were a joke. I honestly don’t understand why no action is taken at this hospital. The situation here is truly terrible.
