Good food (A1) The DJ's kept the music on point, even when they swapped. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good spot for food and drink, or just to chill.

On August 10, 2025, my girlfriend and I visited this Black-owned restaurant.. Unfortunately, our experience did not match the appealing images we had seen online. The ambience and décor were less inviting than expected. We had the option to sit inside or on the patio, and chose the patio since the weather was nice. We also wanted to listen to the DJ, which was a little loud for being outside.
Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and young which was one of the few positives. We ordered a pitcher of sangria, coconut shrimp, and catfish nuggets. The catfish nuggets arrived first — the plate was hot, but the fish itself was lukewarm, tasted as if it had been fried earlier, and had been sitting in a warmer. We sent it back and decided to order another coconut shrimp.
The coconut shrimp we received was disappointing — it was fried too hard, had a heavy batter, and had a frozen taste. We requested tartar sauce, but were told they didn’t have any, which was another letdown.
The sangria was by far the worst I’ve ever had. We ordered a pitcher, but it tasted like fruit juice with no noticeable kick. Our waitress told us it was made with red wine and tequila. When we asked the bartender, she added that it contained red wine, tequila, brandy, and other ingredients. After we expressed our dissatisfaction, she offered to make it stronger. A different woman — possibly the manager — brought us another pitcher, saying she made it herself. It tasted slightly better but was still far from great. Too much ice, which made it watered down.
By this point, we decided not to risk ordering entrées. If the basic appetizers and drinks weren’t prepared well, we didn’t feel confident about the main dishes. We left with an $85 bill and an unfinished pitcher of sangria. We thought it was strange that the person who made the sangria didn't check on us again, especially since she was sitting on the patio with other patrons.
Unfortunately, despite the friendly service from our waitress, we cannot recommend this restaurant based on our experience.
Response:
We came with an opened mind.
I asked to take the sangria home because we had paid for it and intended to adjust it to our liking. If you noticed, we did not drink it—this should have indicated that we didn’t enjoy it. The second order of shrimp was placed because the catfish nuggets were not to our liking. That second order arrived while I was still eating the first, not after. Yes, I ate them because I was hungry, but that does not mean the coconut shrimp was exceptionally good. My review reflects my personal opinion and perspective of the events, which is my truth.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was truly disappointing. The shrimp I ordered was fried but arrived cold, which made it unappetizing from the first bite. Hoping the drinks would make up for it, I ordered one—only to find it was poorly made. The staff did prepare a second one after I mentioned it, but unfortunately, it was just as bad as the first. Between the cold food and undrinkable cocktails, I left feeling like I’d wasted both my time and money. Definitely not a place I’d recommend or return to. My first experience dining in Perth Amboy was not great at all.

Let me put you on to a true island treasure. This Jamaican restaurant is as authentic as it gets, with flavors that make you feel like you’re right in Jamaica. As a born Jamaica I’m not a fan of Jamaican restaurants as they cheat you on flavor but not Jamagrille. Found this place after scrolling trying to find a restaurant. The jerk chicken has that slow-smoked depth with the perfect heat balance—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside done on their grill outside. The appetizer platter seasoned to perfection, with gravy that’s perfect for soaking up with the fluffy rice and peas.. Every plate is a celebration of Jamaican culture and cuisine. The drinks were top notch. The Rasta posts was so good.
If you want island flavor done right, this is where you go for real food, real spice, and music. I’ll be back very often
I post a few of what we had

So I stopped here on a Saturday night and the party was jumping. No annoying sections, everyone dancing, and hookah, what else do you need. DJ was great and they served good food late. It’s nice to have a place for us.
Special shout out to bartender Mia she looked out. ❤️

I’m leaving this review because I genuinely feel like this place is robbing people. I enjoy their beef patties (you get three small cocktail patties) and their mac and cheese—it's tasty, but still overpriced at $10 each on the regular menu. I decided to order delivery and was shocked to see both the patties and the mac listed at $17 each on DoorDash and Uber Eats.
I figured maybe it would be cheaper to call and pick it up directly. Nope. When I called in the order, it still came out to $33—for three cocktail-sized patties and a small side of mac and cheese. Nearly $40 for something that’s not even a full entree is outrageous.
They really need to stop the price gouging and match the pricing listed on their actual menu. The food is decent, but it's not worth these prices. It feels like they’re taking advantage of customers, and that’s unacceptable.
I read some reviews before going here and true to those reviews, the place looks sketchy. But was pleasantly surprised to find what was inside. Nice atmosphere and decor. Our waitress Zar was amazing. She was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. Food was decent and the endless Rum Punch drinks were awesome. Overall, food was a bit pricey for the amount of food you get. And the chicken parts seem to come from cornish hens or something because they were small, very small. We had a good time, but probably won't visit again.

Went on a whim on the way out and enjoyed my mules and my chili glaze lamb chops! I wish I could remember my bartenders name but she was super nice and attentive. I'm from Atlanta and it reminded me of one of my old favorites that closed a while back. Don't go in acting or thinking you're at Nobu or something. Come for the music, the good drinks, and some hearty, hot food. I'll definitely go again when I'm back in Jersey.

Food was good. A little over priced for the atmosphere. The drinks are good, also a little over priced. They also charge a restaurant fee, on top of gratuity and tax. The bar itself, is basic. Nothing fancy, but good to just go grab dinner & drinks. No need to dress up, definitely not that type of vibe.
