The best Puerto Rican food outside my Mom’s kitchen is this place. When I go visit my Godmother at a nursing home in Matawan, I stop here and take her a plate. Today’s arroz con gandules was perfection. They had five pasteles - which i bought and I was back in my Mom’s kitchen Christmas day. I wish my godmothers nursing home could get food from here. She used to be the queen of pasteles de yucca. Even though Torres was not yucca, they passed the taste test from Ana with an empty plate. Thank you Torres cafe for making authentic Puerto Rican cuisine worthy of my Godmother Ana’s approval.

I really wanted to be able to give 5 stars but the chicken and pernil were very salty. Alcapurria was delicious and so was the relleno de papa. I’ll give it another shot someday because not too many PR restaurants like this.

Amazing, authentic, and truly homemade Puerto Rican food. Had the beef and cheesesteak empanadas, totones, bistec de cebolla, fried chicken, spare ribs, pork, and alcapurria, and everything was delicious. The pork and empanadas are my personal favorites, but you really can’t go wrong. Super busy, and for good reason, but service was still fast and the meals were affordable. Coming back asap. Hidden gem of a restaurant. Don’t miss this place.
