I visited Henry's Diner on Tuesday March 25th, at around 12:30 and it did not disappoint! Parking was somewhat limited, and upon approaching the diner, I noticed a line that had formed. It took me about 20 minutes of waiting before I could sit down. The interior was well maintained and clean with a welcoming atmosphere, because as soon as I sat down, I was greeted by my server in a very nice manner! I ordered the breakfast burger and a side of chicken fingers that came along with fries. All of these dishes were incredible! The burger was juicy and not dry, the egg had a nice yolk, with very tasty bacon, and the fries were very crispy and seasoned well, as well as the chicken tenders being breaded beautifully and having a nice crunch. The diner accepts Rutgers student meal swipes, which is very convenient for any Rutgers students who want to dine here! The menu also caters to various dietary preferences, offering vegetarian options like the melted brie and cranberry sandwich on whole grain bread. The total came out to around $24 for my meal, and considering the amount of food I got for the price, I'd say I'm willing to come back! Overall, Henry's Diner provided a delightful dining experience with its nostalgic yet modern ambiance, attentive service, and diverse menu. It's a spot I'd recommend come back to in a pinch!

Henry’s Diner is a popular place to eat for students and it is situated on the Rutgers University Livingston campus. On weekdays, the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. I went there on 26th March at 2:30 PM. I have heard that it takes some time to find a parking spot but, I did not have to deal with that situation as I took the LX bus which stops right in front of Henry’s Diner. I was waiting in the queue for 20-25 minutes. After entering, I was impressed by the diner’s warm and welcoming interior. There were also lots of windows which made the dining area bright. I had heard that their milkshakes are amazing so, I ordered a milkshake for myself which matched my expectations. I also tried their Jersey Burger with crispy fries which was also good. They also have vegetarian and gluten free food options if that’s your preference. It took around 10 minutes for my meal to arrive. I did not feel any inconvenience as the server made sure my order was correct and was kind and helpful. Rutgers students can use their meal swipes to pay and, one meal swipe can get you an entire meal and you have to pay extra if you are getting a drink as well.

Henry's Diner in New Brunswick is a traditional diner that serves great food in a welcoming environment. I ate there on March 25, 2025, at 6:30 PM, and the cost was approximately 2 meal swipes. Parking took a few minutes, but the warm environment of the diner made it worth the effort. The environment was complete with comfortable booths, checkered floors, and retro memorabilia. Our server was attentive, offering suggestions and stopping by regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. Our meals arrived within 15 minutes during the early dinner rush. I tried the Jersey Burger with crispy fries, and my companion had the Taylor Ham, Egg & Cheese sandwich—both of which were fresh and flavorful. The fresh-squeezed orange juice was a nice touch as well as the chocolate milkshake. Henry's offers a Rutgers student discount and gluten-free options upon request. With large portions and a welcoming interior, it's a spot for both students and locals. Rating: 4.5/5 stars

Henry's Diner appears to be a small shop on the Rutgers University Livingston campus but it is a big part of students' daily lives. Henry's Diner provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner on weekdays from 12:00-6:00 pm and their milkshakes are very good. I went on Wednesday, March 26 at around 3 pm and the wait time was about 10-20 minutes on a busy day which isn’t that bad for a food spot on campus. Although I bet every other student highly enjoys this spot, my personal experience with Henry’s Diner wasn’t the greatest. Specifically the customer service outside the store was not the friendliest. Being a first time customer, I was unsure on what line to stand in and there were no clear signs about lines. A lady came out and asked me if I was dining in or not and I told her I was taking out. I then remembered I needed to dine-in for a class requirement, so after entering Henry's Diner I went back outside in line next to my electric scooter which was turned off and mounted. The lady then came outside and said to me that I had told her I was taking out earlier. I informed her that I changed my mind and she went on to tell me that I would leave my scooter outside and aggressively told me to take my place in line. She was very nice to the other customers before me so it was surprising the way she came at me when I had simply changed my mind to eat in the Diner. This threw my mood off for the rest of my stay in the restaurant and spoiled my first impression of Henry’s Diner. I suggest that when employees greet customers outside to not assume they know how the Diner operates and counter customers confusion with kindness and reassurance. Other than that mishap outside, Henry’s Diner is cozy inside because of the glass windows letting the natural light in brightening the interior and the perks of being able to use meal swipes helps save money for students. Once settled in the diner, I ordered french fries and a vanilla milkshake. I wasn’t very hungry at the time, but I did find the menu had many options. My server was good and the fries and milkshake were very good. I wish my overall customer service experience was better, but since I am a student at Rutgers, I will probably give it another try in the future.

Second time here. Disrespectful. Also felt like they just wanted you in and out. Waiters are a bunch of kids who don't know what they are doing nor how to greet or talk to people. They tell you to get out of their way when you are on your way to the bathroom. Generally way too busy but if you like their food then I guess you can wait 30 minutes outside when it's cold, snowing, or raining. This isn't a real diner, felt like burger king. I definitely rather grab something to eat at the other places to eat around campus. I don't know why I would want to eat here and spend upwards to 25% more money.

The food was decent, it’s what I expected from a popular diner on a college campus. I got the chicken and waffles, it was good, but needed a bit more seasoning, the chicken was a bit bland. Place takes meal swipes and cash.

I visited Henry’s Diner on a busy Wednesday afternoon around 2 p.m., during one of their peak hours. I waited about 25 minutes to be seated, as it seemed they prioritized larger groups over solo diners, even though a few single seats were open. Once seated, my order was taken promptly, and the food arrived quickly—within about 5 minutes.

I ordered the chicken quesadilla, which I’d rate around 7.5 out of 10. It was a generous portion for the price, with vegetables and onions that added flavor—a nice touch since many places skip these extras. The servers were friendly, attentive, and quick to meet customer needs, creating a welcoming environment. Henry’s Diner offers a casual atmosphere with a solid selection of comfort foods, making it a great option if you’re in the mood for familiar, satisfying dishes. Solo diners, however, might need some patience during busier times. Overall, Henry’s is a dependable spot for anyone looking for a relaxed, homey meal.

I recently visited Henry's Diner on my campus (Today, October 30th) for lunch (12:30 PM), and while the initial wait in line was longer than expected, the experience altogether was great. I waited about 20 minutes outside the diner to be seated, and then around 5-10 minutes for my food. Waiting wasn’t ideal, especially when you’re hungry, but once I got inside, the comfortable atmosphere helped balance things out. There weren't too many people inside (which I figure makes sense, they only let people in once there's a lot of vacancy indoors). I felt relatively fine while waiting for my food - not too much noise or stress surrounding me. The decorations and layout had a warm, nostalgic feel that made it easy to settle in, and the lively campus vibe added a nice touch.

I ordered the chicken tenders with honey mustard, and they were easily some of the best I've had in a while. Very crispy, the size of each tender was just right, and the seasoning was great. These are some of the best chicken tenders I've had in a while and definitely the highlight of the meal. The service was also a positive aspect of the experience. Despite how busy the place was, the staff were attentive, friendly, and efficient. My waiter seemed committed to ensuring my service was good - he regularly asked me questions about how I felt, how the food was, etc, which made my experience even more welcoming.

I don't have any tips for specific diets. They clarify their vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. They do take meal swipes.

Overall, my visit was a pleasant one. The cost of my food was $12.80. The parking was fine, I parked at the Livingston Yellow Lot. If they could shorten the wait times, this would be a top-notch spot on campus. For anyone looking for a casual meal with a chill vibe, I’d recommend giving it a try. Just be prepared for a bit of a long line....

Today, I visited Henry's Diner with a friend after class, which certainly didn't disappoint. Since the Dine-in line wasn't very long, we were only seated after 5 minutes. Our server was very attentive and immediately came to get us started with our beverages. My friend and I both ordered two unsweetened iced teas. He ordered a meatloaf, and I ordered a cheesesteak. The service was speedy, and shortly after ordering, my friend and I got our beverages and food. The cheesesteak came out steaming hot. The beef was covered with red and green peppers and generous slices of American cheese. The fries on the side were perfectly crisped. My friend's meatloaf also came with the fries, which he enjoyed. His order of meatloaf came with two meatloaves coated in a delicious gravy sauce. The meatloaf is tasty and flavorful; however, the vegetables were bland, and the broccoli was too hard to chew. Overall, this was a great experience, and I recommend it.

I recently visited Henry’s Diner on the Livingston Campus and it was a great experience. I went at around 4 so there was almost no line outside. The line outside normally moves pretty quickly and the food is definitely worth waiting for. The atmosphere inside is very friendly and comfy, and the place is very clean.

The service was good, as our server was attentive and friendly; And the food came out pretty quickly. Finally, the food was very delicious, the menu offers all the comforting diner staples, I got a buffalo chicken wrap with french fries and it was amazing. Henry’s diner is one of if not the best place to use a meal swipe at Rutgers University. Overall, I highly recommend Henry’s Diner for anyone looking for a satisfying meal on campus, it's a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a hearty meal between classes.

I went to Henry’s Diner during the lunch rush and waited outside on the line. While the line looks intimidating, it goes by pretty fast and we were seated after a 20 minute wait. The ambience here is great because the windows bring in so much light and they have customers put their bags towards the wall. The music choice gave off a retro American vibe without being distracting and the service was fast and friendly.I ordered the nutella crepe and added bananas (which costs extra) and my partner got a sandwich. The sandwich was larger and more filling but about the same price. The crepe is really thin (which is expected of a crepe but not enough to be filling). My tip would be for you to share two dishes, one more filling and another more for dessert, as we did.One meal swipe covers $12 and that comes with a drink of coffee or tea. They had a sign that says meal swipes are guaranteed till 5pm.Overall, I think the food was pretty good but ambience was the best part.

I’ll be honest that I was not expecting good food for an on-campus spot but I was pleasantly surprised. There was a 30 min wait since college students can use meal swipes here but overall the food was good and the service was great.
