While some of the food was quite tasty the noise level was off the charts. You could barely hear the server telling you about specials and if you were hoping to have a conversation with the party you are with good luck. It seemed at certain tables people were speaking at a level 10 because they could not hear above the noise so they spoke even louder themselves. We left feeling we would not go back. Their dishes were beautiful visually and some tasted quite good. A few were very average. The lobster bisque was good even without any visible lobster meat . The salads were salads. The entrees for the most part were good unfortunately the sorba noodle entree was just O.K. We had dessert and they could have been from anywhere, decent but not extraordinary. My favorite part of the visit was the food runners. They were very efficient .

I have never had a bad or even OK meal at the Poached Pear. All of them have been excellent and I've been there many times. Our server was very attentive made very good recommendations. She knew her menu very well and was able to describe the dishes we asked about. I had the bread duck with a sweet potato cannelloni, which was out of this world. My friend had the veal and he was equally pleased. I would highly recommend the Poached Pear to all my friends and anyone else who is down at the shore and wants a very good meal. Hats off to the chef.

Wonderful service! Tables a bit close and with the room design it got to be quite noisy and difficult to hear at our table. Our table really enjoyed their shrimp and pork chop.

6 of us were celebrating anniversaries and this restaurant was an excellent choice. Food and service were outstanding. Still noisy even with sound absorbers.

Parking: You can either park on the street, across the street in a parking lot or behind the restaurant.

Tightly packed tables caused for intimate quarters and a buzzing atmosphere with pleasant wall decor. If you're looking for an upscale dining experience where they simply knock the food out of the park - look no further

The Poached Pear is easily the best food my family and I have eaten this side of the bay, bar none, and we've been around. While the storefront might look unassuming in its curbside appeal, don't let this not so little restaurant fool you. With an impressively dense, diverse and delicious sounding menu, we were blown away to hear the addition of five specials for a Tuesday evening

The grilled octopus appetizer was a refreshing take on a charred mollusk and the burrata's pairing with tangerine was oddly addictive

For mains, the white fish special (honestly can't remember the name) was outstanding. Portions were impressive and well priced. Easily the best meal I've eaten this year. My only critique would the the risotto was phenomenal but hardly reminiscent of risotto. Another name would be more apt. The NY strip was also quite delicious albeit slightly overcooked

Desserts again impressed with their options but the tiramisu fell short with lack of flavor but Grandma's cheesecake brought us home, reminding me of MY grandmother's cheesecake

Thank you for a delicious evening!

I can't believe it took me this long to try this place. I was definitely missing out. Everything I tried was amazing. We started with the crab cake appetizer and a salad. The crab cake was full of crab yet light and delicate. I know that sounds impossible for a crab cake but somehow it was. The salad had just the right amount of hazelnuts and goat cheese and was dressed in a white balsamic dressing. It was the perfect balance of flavors. For dinner I had the Tuna with soba noodles and vegetables. It was done perfectly. My husband opted for a fish special which had a cream sauce and was over risotto. Again the combination of flavors was incredible. The service was perfect and although we had a primary server, it seemed like everyone helped out and they didn't miss a beat. Well done, Poached Pear! I can't wait to go back!!!

We visited on a busy Thursday and were seated immediately on arrival. Our waitress promptly greeted us, served our wine and kept it chilled for us. After hearing the nightly specials, we decided on a few of our favorites that are on the menu. We shared the Garlic Appetizer which is a delicious parmesan crostini topped with a large shrimp and covered in a delicious creamy dried tomato sauce. They added one extra shrimp to our order so we could all have our own portion. Two of us had our go to entree, the Apple Cider Brined Pork Chop with caramelized apples and bourbon cider glaze, crispy spaetzle, red cabbage and a whole grain mustard. Delicious! Other entrees ordered were the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, Grilled Salmon Filet and the Veal Vol Au Vent with puff pastry and a cognac wild mushroom sauce. Everyone loved their dinner choices. Service is also amazing. They checked back often to make sure we had what we needed and to make sure we were enjoying our meals. They also offer a great selection of desserts. The Poached Pear is perfect for catching up with friends for a delicious meal, a date night, or special occasion. It is also BYOB,

The food, service, and ambiance was exceptional. Ask the waiters for their recommendations and oblige. My wife and I had a wonderful experience for our anniversary. Will recommend and return.

After visiting this restaurant for several years I'm disappointed to see they lower the quality of the food. My husbands butter nut squash ravioli had very little little filling. My mushroom stuffed puff pastry had no red wine reduction. The lamb chops for 48.00 went from 5 down to four plus there now mediocre not the same quality. When your paying approx 75.00 per person you expect quailty food. The tourist may not realize it but your locals and regulars do They have not changed specials in years therefore there not specials just items with a higher price point I'm sorry to say another hits the dust.

Our server was very nice. We started by sharing the octopus. There were too many ingredients on the plate that did not go well together. Our octopus was very chewy. My husband had the duck and I had the halibut. We both enjoyed our main dishes. We split the cheesecake for dessert. That was the best part of the meal.
