For my boyfriend's birthday, we spent the day in Point Pleasant, on the boardwalk. After spending $150 on games we never won, we decided to go into town to Poached Pear Bistro. The town is really cute so I wish we didn't get there so late but I was able to buy a dress in 5 min. Anywho dinner was my treat and I wanted to take him somewhere nice. Poached Pear was delicious! He had filet minion which was cooked perfectly and I had the duck. I will say the duck was cooked...
Overall, admittedly, our visit was quite lackluster for a restaurant like Poached Pear that is frequently mentioned among the best restaurants in New Jersey. My entree - the duck off of the standard menu - lacked a flavor punch that I've had at other restaurants. The temperature was good, but the overall dish was a bit bland. Not sure I'd be in a big rush to return to this venue.
