For my boyfriend's birthday, we spent the day in Point Pleasant, on the boardwalk. After spending $150 on games we never won, we decided to go into town to Poached Pear Bistro. The town is really cute so I wish we didn't get there so late but I was able to buy a dress in 5 min. Anywho dinner was my treat and I wanted to take him somewhere nice. Poached Pear was delicious! Overall, admittedly, our visit was quite lackluster for a restaurant like Poached Pear that is frequently mentioned among the best restaurants in New Jersey. My entree - the duck off of the standard menu - lacked a flavor punch that I've had at other restaurants. The temperature was good, but the overall dish was a bit bland. Not sure I'd be in a big rush to return to this venue.
Unfortunately, our most recent visit was lackluster compared to past experiences. The lobster was overcooked, and while the crab cakes were good, they were also somewhat bland. Everything else was just okay—not the quality we’ve come to expect and not what we were anticipating.
