Owner waited on me and made my lunch with 1 glove on ....this was just after handling cash at the register. Not hygienic when handling food.

After my third negative experience here I feel an honest review is warranted. I have only ever ordered plain bagels with cream cheese and a coffee here. Pretty standard and in NJ (especially from a place called “Goldbergs”) you would expect an edible bagel and decent coffee. NOPE. The coffee is off- acidic, wrong temp and once even they put in spoiled cream. The bagels are inconsistent. Today I actually thought I was being pranked. Basically a dense, slightly raw bagel smooshed and with like an entire package of cream cheese on it.
Go back to bagel school.

Goldberg’s Famous Bagels in Pompton Lakes, NJ, is a gem worth visiting! My experience here was nothing short of phenomenal, and I’m happy to share my thoughts.

First off, the location is super convenient with plenty of parking inside the plaza, which is a big plus for anyone familiar with the parking challenges in this area.

The staff are absolutely wonderful—courteous, respectful, patient, and extremely welcoming. Their friendliness makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. A younger gentleman, who I believe might be the owner or manager, was particularly helpful. He went above and beyond to recommend a bagel option for me when the one I originally wanted was out of stock. His recommendations did not disappoint, and I truly appreciated the effort he made to ensure I had a great experience.

Though I visited after lunchtime, which explains why a few options were unavailable, it’s understandable given the popularity of the place. Even then, the overall atmosphere and the attentive service more than made up for it.

The bagels themselves? Amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you’d expect from a place with "famous" in the name.

All in all, Goldberg’s Famous Bagels deserves five stars for their fantastic food, excellent service, and welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back, and I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great bagel experience!

I can't help but wonder if the negative reviews are related to language-related discomfort.
The bagel was perfect- a crusty exterior and chewy interior. Coffee was excellent, fresh and screaming hot. The eggs/bacon on my sandwich were prepared with attention to detail. The young lady spoke about 10 words of English.and executed perfectly. Amazing what eye contact, a smile, and "thank you" can do to make some one feel heard and appreciated. Great place with a few tables for those of us who want to hide for a few minutes.

The owner of the bagel store was extremely rude and nasty. When we complained about there service her answer was "well what do you want me to do about it?!" If you don't like it get out of my store immediately. I have other customers to take care of. Very impolite and could care less about trying to make it better. Then while the line was long she took time out to make breakfast for her husband instead of tending to the other customers. Even her husband chimed in with rude comments. Very unprofessional. I would never recommend this bagel place to my worst enemy. Even her employees looked uncomfortable and nervous as they shook in fear they were going to do something wrong and get yelled at. I felt extremely awful for them. 1000% THUMBS DOWN 👎👎

Where's the cream cheese?

Over priced and skimped on the taylor ham. Asked for salt pepper ketchup on my bagel and didnt get it. Place has gone downhill.

Maybe if the owner would stop arguing with her customers like we’re in the Bronx, the staff would be able to complete an order properly.

I wish 0 stars was an option!!! I ordered 2 omelettes: 1 was Turkey, feta & spinach. The other vegetables ONLY. The first omelette had no feta or spinach and the vegetable one had turkey in it - and one of us is allergic to meat. When we went back to the restaurant, they refused to remake our order or refund us. In addition, they told us that they were not the ones to mess up. And to top it all off, there was a hair that very obviously wasn’t ours inside the omelet (Pictured below)

Should've read all the bad reviews before ordering

A few months ago there was excellent service, the people who worked there were more helpful, and this does not include the owner, she has always been a person with a bad character no matter who is there, as an owner she does not give good service and as a terrible person He speaks bad words to his employees, now the service is deplorable, the orders are terrible, they take longer than normal, the hygiene is terrible, and there is nothing nice to say about this place, a terrible place to eat AWESOME, I don't know I recommend them.

Placed an order for 2 paninis- got attitude over the phone & when my husband went to pick up the order they were very rude, and actually threw the container into a bag. Both paninis were cold- cheese wasn’t even melted. NEVER AGAIN!!!!
