Please stop and read this before you eat at Ajiten Sushi in Princeton. My family has been a regular customer (both take out and in restaurant) of this restaurant for over a decade. As part of a recent take out, we were given some bad sushi. I called immediately and informed them of this problem. The next time we ordered, we asked for a credit for the spoiled item from our last takeout. They flat out and rudely refused. We were told they never issue credits for “alleged” quality issues. The chef flat out refuses to do so believing he never has issues. If you read many of the other reviews you will see a pattern of shabby rude service and questionable food quality. This is a place that is likely to go out of business. Businesses generally don’t survive if they don’t stand behind their products. As a result of this treatment, we decided to try another Princeton sushi restaurant and found it to be bright, fresh and yummy with much better service. We will not frequent Ajiten Sushi again.

I called ahead of time to reserve and the woman didn’t want to be bothered to take my name. i dropped off my wife and friend who is recovering from surgery so they would have to walk. After parking the car and walking back to the restaurant I found them standing by the door because the woman wouldn’t let them sit down until the entire party arrived. The restaurant was completely empty except for three people at one table. She finally agreed to let them sit down and I asked her very politely to heat our bottle of sake. She looked at me like I asked her to paint my house. She then proceeded to yell at us for reacting incredulously to her resistance to do her job. Now you know why you don’t need reservations on a night where most restaurants in Princeton are full. I didn’t think any restaurant owner could be more obnoxious than the previous owner (Ajihei) but this woman is a nightmare. I feel bad for the sushi chef because the sushi and sashimi here is really good. We’ll never go back. Usually this woman is busy screwing up take out orders so in the past we were luckier in getting an actual waiter. Luckily we went to Elite Five and had a very nice meal and served by thoughtful professional waitstaff. I’m sure its just a short while until they have alienated the last of their clientele and they will go out of business.

Excellent sushi, but it ain’t cheap. Hole in the wall basement vibe with no cell service. Around $8 per piece of salmon nigiri. Can’t eat for much less than $50 per person

Authentic Japanese sushi and comfort food. All of their fish is fresh, their sushi rice is perfect, and their miso soup is authentic miso.We stopped by for lunch and were blown away. Great, welcoming service. The interior is cozy. They serve fresh green tea, which is always a plus! This is the best quality sushi and Japanese cuisine you’ll find in all of Princeton.

My whole party got sushi/sashimi here. The fish quality and the presentation here is probably the best in Princeton. Prices are standard for quality fresh fish anywhere-- probably you'd find it expensive if you're used to all-you-can-eat sushi places. Miso soup and pickled vegetables were tasty, the pickled radish here is not dyed.

Service was perfectly pleasant. Never got a whiff of the "rudeness" other reviews seem to complain a lot about. Then again I go to restaurants for the food, not to be smiled at by staff. If you're in Princeton and in the mood for sushi this is the place to go.

Wheelchair accessibility: Down a flight of steep outside stairs to get to this restaurant from street level (it's a basemeny level restaurant).

The woman waitress is very very rude. Makes the experience very unpleasant. Also, you will wait about 2 hours for your appetizer. Extremely slow.

I lived in Princeton for many years, and this is my favorite sushi place. The staff is kind and accomodating. My favorite item to order is the Chirashi Bowl. I love the atmosphere. I save this place for special occasions or dinner with special friends. I love to buy a bottle of sake from Public before heading over here.
