First I would like to acknowledge our waiter, Joshua B. He was such a pleasure and so attentive and personable. The recommendations were great and his personality was an experience in itself. The manager was also amazing and my only regret was not getting his name. Now let’s get into the food…EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING prepared was delicious. The tuna tartare and lobster bites were my absolute favorite apps. The entrees were phenomenal. I have the surf and turf and my wife had the cowboy with the lobster and cherry pepper topping and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere was lovely and the drinks ESPECIALLY THE POMEGRANATE SPRITZ and Pomegranate Sangria …AMAZING !

This simple, classy restaurant has blown my mind and expectations of high end food. The Waygu dumplings were so crunchy yet so soft with a sweet mustard side sauce. The Beef Wellington melts like butter in your mouth. I have never had such a tasteful steak. The brussel sprouts for a side are so rich in flavor and the lobster Mac and cheese are just some of the amazing things that this restaurant serves. All sides are made to share also. Worth the price of what we ordered. Would absolutely come and get this again!Dietary restrictions: The server asks if someone has a food allergy.Parking: There are pay stations along the street before the restaurant

I came here for Valentine’s Day dinner with my partner. I’m local to Princeton and I suggested this restaurant as I’ve been before and had previously enjoyed my experience here. Unfortunately, this time around was disappointing in food and service. We ordered the dry aged Cowboy steak with sauce and 3 sides (potatoes au gratin, roasted mushrooms, mac & cheese). Everything came out at the same time and it was cold. It was lukewarm at best. No steam, the food plates/dishes weren’t hot to the touch, especially the sides which was disappointing. My partner and I agreed that the taste was okay but it would’ve tasted better if it was HOT. Our steak was lukewarm almost cool and a little more rare than the medium rare we asked for. The plate wasn’t hot either. Our waiter came to ask if everything was good but left before we could even answer him. Though it was a busy night, we saw the manager go to tables to check on them and didn’t get to ours…we would’ve mentioned the food then. We were served by J-P and we both noticed that his demeanor and tone was not friendly & warm like the other waiters/waitresses. It made our valentines dinner experience mediocre. It definitely fell short of expectations considering the venue and price.

The service was great, it was a bit slow but very nice and courteous. I called the day of for a large group reservation and they were able to accommodate us no problem. Now The food was just okay and for a steak house I expected way more. My steak was cold and under seasoned, but it was tender and cooked well. l just would have loved for it to have been hot. The French fries were nothing special and again under seasoned. The corn bruelle was weird but worth a try. Mashed poatoes were very creamy. The mango mocktail i had only tasted like ginger beer no mango in sight. My family members has some seafood dishes they really enjoyed including the shrimp and everyone's steak was cooked well it was all just a tad bland. We were celebrating a birthday and they included a surprise free ice cream Sunday which was very generous and delicious. A small detail they missed was the birthday girl is allergic to nuts and on the plate for the Sunday they included some chopped nuts luckily it wasn't a big deal we just took them off the plate but allergies were discussed at the beginning of the meal so it was a bit awkward.Parking: Parking garage called Threater drive a short walk away its free certain times during the week and all day during the weekend. My GPS got a bit lost on the way to the parking garage so just pay attention to signs. There is paid street parking close to the restaurant but it can be hard to get a spot. There is also tons of other parking lots both paid and free a short walk away.

I can't praise this place highly enough. It's the sort of place I can only afford to visit once a year, but it was worth every penny. I had never been to Princeton, but my daughter-in-law insisted that we make a reservation here. It was wonderful. Our server, Louis, was very attentive and professional. We were served popovers while waiting for our food, and my daughter-in-law and her sister, who were from Europe, had never seen them. I said they were to be expected at a certain type of high-end restaurant in the United States. My Bloody Mary was perfect, and that is one of the things on which I rate a restaurant. I can't remember what my daughter-in-law ordered, but her sister enjoyed the halibut very much. I started with the lobster bisque, which was delicious, and then had the petit filet with horseradish cream, spinach au gratin, and grilled mushrooms. Louis recommended a Delbert Caymus cabernet to go with my meal, and it was perfect. I finished my meal with a glass of The Macallan 12 and a cup of black coffee. The furnishings, decor, and entire ambience were entirely fitting to an establishment of this kind. I should add that although a place like this is obviously not set up to cater to small children, they accommodated my 3-year-old granddaughter perfectly well, with a nutritious burger and a plate of grilled vegetables.I am only sorry I live so far away, in Texas, and can only say that if I ever visit Princeton again, Roots Ocean Prime will certainly be high on my list for a return visit.

I just went here for my 14th birthday dinner, with my full family, including my brother who’s on the autism spectrum. He got really anxious and started to scream and wail in the middle of the restaurant. My mom took him out and I was upset since I thought the night was ruined. The staff were so incredibly kind and never complained about him, and when we were about to leave, they came out with a huge sparkling sundae. I was so touched and then they announced that the drinks and food and the sundae were all on them and that they hoped we could come back soon so we could try again. I was so incredibly touched and happy with this experience and I am so excited to go back. The people and the food are amazing there and please try it out if you can!

I am compelled to share my recent horrendous experience at your restaurant. My family and I visited to celebrate my father’s birthday, and our evening was utterly ruined by the unprofessional and rude behavior of the hostess, who I later discovered is also a manager named Peggy.Upon arrival, Peggy insisted that our reservation was for two, not three. When I asked if she could still seat us, she callously claimed to be “all booked up.” Later, I discovered there were plenty of reservations available, but they were for later times – information Peggy conveniently neglected to share.Attempting to address the issue, I called the restaurant, hoping to speak to a manager. To my dismay, I was directed straight to Peggy, who not only denied saying she was booked up but displayed an unapologetic and unaccommodating attitude. This wasn’t an isolated incident, as my workplace also had similar negative experiences, prompting us to cease holding our functions at your establishment.Despite previously enjoying the food, Peggy’s outright rudeness has driven me to the decision that I will never set foot in your restaurant again. It’s disheartening that someone like Peggy is part of your team, tarnishing the otherwise positive aspects of your establishment. I caution anyone considering reservations here and strongly advise steering clear of Peggy. Sadly, your good food couldn’t compensate for the terrible treatment we endured.
