So underwhelmed by this pizza place. I made the trip out trusting Dave portnoys review. The crust was burned and so charred! I had so much better in bk and nyc- even New Haven. Save yourself the trip guys

Very over rated as it tasted like frozen pizza. When I went to pay I swear I saw what looked like teenage girls in the back preparing the pizza. Since then I shake my head every time I pass this place.

Quite simply… the best pizza I’ve ever had & it’s not even close!!!

I thought the pizza was good. My two friends thought it was fabulous! I happen to like pizza that is dripping with cheese and oil and thin crust. This had a thin but hard crust. Expect it to be crowded here. Parking is awful.

Drove an hour and half to get pizza. Got there at 1:15 pm and no one was seated inside. 2 people were on line for pickup. Was told we couldn’t get pizza because they were full. Asked if we could get one to go. Said come back at 4. Very dissatisfied. I guess the barstool review made the even more famous but service like this can quickly eroded almost 100 years of reputation

A two hour drive from Pennsylvania after seeing the review from Bar Stool Sports, arrived at 8:28 to be turned away by a young girl starting “we close at 8:30, next time I recommend you call.” You get no review, but as a 40 year Food and Beverage professional, I am appalled, and insulted that I was denied a seat, or a pizza to go. Going around the corner to IL Forno, and no matter the outcome, their review will be fantastic….

I live about 20 min away since 1977 and didn't know about this place until a couple years ago when Dave P. (1bite) did his review and now I know why. It's brick oven pizza , nothing to write home about in my opinion. Would I drive 20 min again for it ... absolutely not. I think Dave may have been on one, when he gave his review of this place. Like I said it was good , not 20 min drive good . I had better in North Plainfield and Dunellen

One rejection a week, everyone knows the rules.

Sir, we only make four pies at most for an order.

Me: Oh gee, let me gather up 10 colleagues and we'll each order 4 pies each mmm kay?

Sir, we ran out of pizzas today.

Me: ....

The oven sure is capable, just not so much the service. They aren't hurting for your money.

DeLucias has been legendary throughout my 20 years living in Somerset County. I finally tried it this week. Get there esrly...the pizza sells out. It's worth it though.

I have never done this before but I have to tell about my experience at Delucia's tonight. I drove two and a half hours to get there and when my son I walked up there was a sign in front of the door saying no more orders, or something to that effect. There were still some people eating inside so we walked in to see what was up. I asked the girl at the register if they were still seating people and she apologized and said they were not. This I might add was 1 1/2 hours before closing time. I started to ask politely if it was still possible to get a pie and halfway through my sentence a guy in the back that was making pizzas went off on me. Yelling at me that there was a 2 hour waiting period which I obviously didn't know about. He continued to yell at me and would not let me speak. Despite his rant, I tried to apologize for not knowing about the 2 hour wait time and he again wouldn't let me finish and continue yelling at me. I don't believe I have ever been mistreated like that at any business before ever. I would have loved to taste their pizza considering the reviews, but unfortunately I will never go back there again. I hate badmouthing anyone on social media, but if this guy is benefitting from outstanding reviews, he should learn how to treat people and act like he actually appreciates the business.

What DeLucia's does right is that they cook the pizza nicely. Besides that, the flavor of their plain pie itself is very average. I recommend the buffalo chicken pie instead. Regardless, not worth waiting in line for. Dave Portnoy cares more about thin crust and "zero flop" than a good tasting pizza. This is an old school Jersey pie with the classic, overly salty tomato sauce and cheese. If you're a local, this is just another average pizzeria that gets more attention than it deserves. Another positive thing I can say about this place is that their menu is fairly priced. Sadly, the price reflects on the quality of the pizza. Want quality that's worth the trip? Check out Bivio, Blue Steel or Coniglio's.
