Sandwiches are decent, if sometimes lacking flavor, but the shop itself is poorly organized. If there's any crowd the line to order, the line to pay and the folks waiting for their order all become one. The teenaged boys in front of me were charged twice for their order (which the manager straightened out) and another patron in back was rudely calling others derogatory epithets. The atmosphere at the Rumson location is the opposite so it's a shame that Middletown is...
Normally I order their Liverwurst sandwich, #20 and have never been disappointed.
However I wanted to try their Philly cheesesteak just to gauge how well they make theirs compared to others. Sadly, it was the driest cheesesteak I’ve ever had. Plenty of steak but not enough cheese integrated to compensate. See photos. The sesame bread was ok, not crispy for texture.
The ultimate cheesesteak is not found in Philly but by Chef Jose Andres...
