This was a huge disappointment. The food was at best average. The lady I think was either the owner or manager actually told my wife she was wrong when she said she ordered a steak medium rare and it came out medium. She also did not offer to replace it for a new one. I am not sure if this is a New Jersey thing as I have not experienced something like this in New York. Very disappointing!

This is our favorite restaurant in Red Bank - been there a dozen times and never had a bad meal. Incredibly reasonable for the caliber and quality of meal they provide. service is always perfect and the owner watches over the front of house like a hawk - making sure no one needs anything. Love Monticello

The food is good. Portions are smaller than other places and a bit more pricey but what lacks in volume makes with taste. They do state on the menu that they can do substitutions with an up charge but when asking for some changes due to allergies, the staff says nothing can be changed but when mentioned this to management when I was leaving when asked about dinner, I was told they could accommodate. For example, being diabetic, I wanted to change the fries for a different vegetable and was told it could not be done. The manager is not very friendly and is all business, but I guess that's why this place is successful. I did read reviews on google prior to going and she does dispute all negative comments and takes it personally. We were also celebrating a birthday and they do not do the traditional birthday celebration like other places. They are all business. They get you in and out quickly.

Food was delicious as usual. No one was at the front to help us. We waited about 10 minutes before anyone even came up. Someone was on the phone, talking however, did not greet us, or acknowledge us or indicate that they needed one moment. Finally, the waitress came back and sat us. The waitress is fabulous, however, doing everything by herself since no one was greeting or seating tables, which is typical unfortunately.

Celebrating an Anniversary - and decided on Monticello's after previously eating here. My guests were very pleased with the food quality, service, ambiance, and efficiency. For entrees we ordered one of the specials: SwordFish Puttanesca, Faroe Island Salmon & Shrimp, and Chicken Parmigiana. Portions are generous and everything delicious. We shared the Charcuterie Board and a Salad. Desserts of Tiramisu for Two and Chocolate Lava Cake & Gelato were equally delicious. They were short-handed however we never noticed as the 'bus-person' stepped in when our server was busy. Keep in mind: they are an average size restaurant and my outstanding comments are based on what seemed to be ~60% capacity for Sunday dinner. They are also BYOB which we love!

Food was good. Expected more. I called to ask if they were now serving alcohol and was told yes. They never said we could still byob. When we sat down, we found out you have to buy the bottle.

Stopped in for dinner prior to show at Count Basie. Service was great, food was fantastic! We were able to order from the pre fix menu the day we were there. Food was delicious, portions were decent sized. Cannot beat the price! We weren't rushed and were able to enjoy the food. The waitress was phenomenal and not overbearing. Would definitely come back!

A most welcomed fulfillment of an encouraging recommendation. The full wait team was gracious, responsive to inquiries and ever so unobtrusive. The mussels with saffron broth exquisite. Memorable. The Chicken Milanese with tricolor lettuce was tender, crispy, and a plate so inviting. Spagghettini Amartriciana seasoned beautifully - the peas, mushrooms...a meal to linger over. Make it last.

The food is top quality and presentation of the food is beautiful. We enjoy going here often because we know we're going to get a wonderful meal and a great experience. The wait staff are all kind and attentive

Went yesterday for Valentine's Day and after being sat at our table, our waiter opened our wine, but didnt offer us any water. He didnt visit our table again until we were able to flag him down 20 minutes later to take our order and bring water. During the time we we sat down and placed our order, the waitress handling the table next us, visited that table 3 times. From the time our appetizer came out until we received our dinner, it took about 40 minutes. During the 40 minutes, our waiter actually came up to us and asked if we were ready for dessert. When I told him we hadn't received our dinner yet, his response was "oh".The food was ok, not worth the wait. The restaurant was loud, tables are very close together, and long wait time for food. The owner did come over and apologize for the long wait time, but honestly the apology should have been directed at the service received. The owner did offer us an after dinner drink, but we refused. After spending over 2 hours and not receiving great service, we were ready to leave.

We had a wonderful one-day-late Valentine's dinner! The staff of just two outside the kitchen did a great job keeping up with all diners' needs and with a smile. Food was delicious!

Consistently the best restaurant in Red Bank. Been there a dozen times and never had a bad meal. Their risottos are amazing, service is spot on, and the owner always makes you feel welcomed and appreciated.
