The theme of this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. We loved the rustic/elegant vibe. The cocktails were delicious, I recommend the cranberry sangria! We went for Saturday brunch, so I got the western omelette which was sooo tasty. The eggs benedict was also great! I'm never in the mood for dessert, but we had to try the s'mores dip and it was to die for. Thank you :)

Nicholas never disappoints. The drinks, appetizers and main courses were all wonderful in their own ways. The "Not Your Grandma's Crudite" is worth every penny and is enough for 4 people. The halibut was prepared perfectly and the presentation impeccable. My new favorite spot for a few drinks, dinner or private event.

Decent atmosphere, hospitable service, but really poor food. Had the halibut, it was overcooked and dry (at $38, you shouldn't make that kind of mistake). My wife's $21 burger came severely undercooked & with the wrong cheese topping. My son had the 18 oz steak - which seemed to lose A LOT of weight in the cooking process - and was "OK" ($59-). Dessert was supposed to be a warm brownie, but it was a cold, pre-cooked brownie stuffed in a skillet, jammed into an oven, and pulled out too soon (wasn't hot enough to melt the ice cream). I left feeling bad that I had spent so much money for a meal (3 people, $185 prior to tip, no alcohol ordered) and gotten such bad food; literally felt like I was ripped off ($7- for bread, BTW). Not a rich man and I don't take the family out like this often (was a special occasion); so this really bothered me. I know I could have done better at this price virtually anywhere else. Avoid this restaurant, for the same money a few miles down the road in Rumson, Fair Lawn, or Red Bank proper, you will get a much better dining experience for the same (or less) money....

I thought everything was just perfect. Our waitress was attentive. She made suggestions and asked us our preferences. I had the Surf and Turf and the burger was cooked perfectly. My husband's swordfish tacos were great as well. Def would recommend and def will go again..

The food was average. My entree was the Crispy Halibut with Smokey Shallot Sauce. The halibut had a fishy taste and the sauce had an off putting flavor. Not a dish I would order again. This is not my first time eating here. Yet, each time I leave, I say I won't go back. Maybe now I'll take my own advice.

I love this restaurant and am so sorry to say something negative. I chose to go here for my Birthday and was disappointed. I ordered the Swordfish dinner and it was SO salty I felt like every mouthful was unpleasant. I am not one to complain and if I did my husband and I would not have eaten together. In addition, the music was a bit too loud and a lot of rock and roll which we did not find relaxing while dining. It was 6pm on a Wednesday. I would have understood more if it was the weekend. We left without dessert at my choice. I have a sweet tooth and I never leave without having dessert!

We always have a wonderful eating experience at Barrel and Roost. The food is delicious, wait staff is excellent and the ambience is lovely. Highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner.

1. I have a problem charging the customer a 3% fee to use a credit card. I am not a frugal person, but do think this isn't good business practice. 2. It was very noisy. 3. The food was good and the wait staff very good. 4. All in all, I do not think I will be back.

My wife asked for her lamb chops to be medium well and they came out rare. The potatoes that were part of the dish were hidden in the Ratatouille. They did adjust the bill for this plate. I liked my halibut and the mushroom bok choy Not on my list of favorites. I will not be back for a second try.

This is my second time here and literally almost sat at the same table. The music is too loud and the room we sat in had horrible acoustics. You can barely hear the person sitting next to you. Over all the food is very good.

Our group of three had a wonderful dinner at Barrel & Roost on a Sunday evening. Our reservation was for 6:30pm and we arrived on time and waited a very short time for our table. The hostess was wonderful as was our server, Eric. Service was impeccable and the food was delicious. We had the short ribs, salmon and halibut entrees-YUMMY! The restaurant was busy for a Sunday but that just shows how popular Barrel & Roost is. I highly recommend :)

Waitress made us feel rushed to order appetizers and food at same time. We wanted to order appetizers because we knew what we wanted and then wanted some time to review menu while appetizers were on order

Went for brunch. The yolks of the eggs in my eggs benedict were cooked hard--a ridiculous mistake for a restaurant, especially one with these prices. All it takes to poach eggs right is a timer and paying attention. I would have sent it back, but my companion had her dish, and I didn't want to prolong the meal.

I would have liked an option like a small salad with my omelet instead of potatoes. Also, I don' t believed we were offered a choice of toast. I do t think we were even offered toast which is surprising. Otherwise, DELICIOUS!

Very hard to spend over $400 sitting on metal chair and metal table in a cold anti room. Walking out seeing guests eating on proper dining tables with cushioned seats made me feel like I really got the short end of a very expensive dinner. That said - food was very good and our server on point. That anti room should be an extension of a bar menu and anyone eating dinner should not be subjected to such a sub par environment- cheapened what would have been / should have been a lovely evening.
