If you’re looking for bland food served in a dirty environment, TOKI Japanese Restaurant is the place for you. The sushi tasted like it had been sitting out all day, the hot dishes were greasy and flavorless, and the overall quality was closer to cheap takeout than an actual restaurant. To make matters worse, the place didn’t even feel clean — sticky tables, grimy utensils, and a bathroom you wouldn’t want to step into. It’s shocking they’re still open. Save your time, your money, and your stomach — anywhere else would be better.

Extremely disappointed with this place. The food was not fresh and had very little flavor — honestly some of the worst Japanese food I’ve ever had. On top of that, the restaurant did not feel clean at all. The tables were sticky, the utensils didn’t look properly washed, and even the bathroom was in terrible condition. When it comes to a restaurant, cleanliness is just as important as taste, and TOKI failed on both. Definitely not worth the money and I will never come back.

Ordered sushi rolls for lunch from here for my son and I on Friday and we both came down with terrible food poisoning. We have never been so sick or felt so horrible and I so regret ordering from here. We’ve been feeling sick for days and it has completely ruined my week off from work. I was at a concert Saturday when it started and I had to leave before the show even started. Tons of money wasted. I should have known when the hot and cold food came together in the same bag and the rolls seemed a little off.

What happened to this place?? We used to go here all the time pre-pandemic for the excellent food. We ordered delivery last night and it was horrible! The old choices are no longer available. Some of our order didn’t arrive until we called them to bring back what was missing. The food we got was completely tasteless. Perfect example…my son wouldn’t try my roll because “it has spicy mayo on top” and he won’t eat spice. I assured him there was zero flavor of spice in whatever that orange sauce was. He tried and said it was fine. However, none of us could finish the lobster roll. It used to be my favorite, but this didn’t resemble their old one in any way. The lobster was so overcooked and rubbery that none of us could swallow it and we just threw away a very expensive dinner.
I was nicely surprised that after the response below from Toki, they did refund me $30 for the lobster roll.

It’s l have been the best sushi restaurants that I've been to in the New Jersey. I always take out from here or eat there. I refuse to eat raw fish anywhere else. Freshest around. I’m here at least once a week. HIGHLY recommend!

I've gotten from Toki multiple times and it's usually good. This time was horrible. The fish was brown and slimy, egg rolls rock hard and cold, fried cheese cake was cold and old.
We ordered delivery for our spa night at Skin Love Beauty & Body Bar in Atlantic Highlands! The dumplings, Lobster Feast Roll & Firecracker Roll were SO FRESH & DELICIOUS! A Perfect pairing to our mango cocktail! This was our first experience with Toki and it was terrific! Thank you!

Ordered takeout tonight. I love Asian cuisine. Thought we would try somewhere new, I like Asian cuisine so much. It always feels like can’t go wrong. Oh how wrong I was. This is literally the worst food I have eaten this year and it is December 29. Avoid all costs. Portions were small, food was tasteless. I also never post reviews. But I created an account such was the feeling of needing to warn others. There is nothing worse than being hungry and excited for your food and then to be met with tasteless slop.
