Maru Sushi is truly a secret spot . From the very first visit, we were hooked.
The sushi here is on another level. Perfectly cut, precise, and beautifully crafted , you can immediately tell this isn’t your average neighborhood sushi. The rolls are unique, refined, and thoughtfully composed, not the same predictable combinations you find everywhere else.
And the omakase selection is exceptional , pristine fish, impeccable knife work, and true respect for the ingredients. This is the kind of place where you don’t just eat sushi… you experience it.
Behind the bar, you’ll find true sushi artisans , masters of precision, balance, and technique. You can literally feel the talent and passion working together in that sushi bar.
On top of that, the owner is incredibly warm and welcoming, greeting customers with genuine kindness. The entire team is friendly, attentive, and makes you feel at home every single time.
If you’re looking for outstanding sushi in Ridgewood, this is the place to go. Trust your appetite, trust the quality , and you’ll keep coming back.
Highly recommended.

Amazing, fresh sushi and a cozy atmosphere! The staff is very friendly and offers great service. We ordered the tuna crispy rice cake appetizer and the flavors were so good. The angry shrimp roll is one of the best rolls we’ve ever had. I’ve been for lunch also and they have a great lunch special. Will definitely be back!

This is likely the best sushi available outside of Japan. We have visited the restaurant many times and ordered delivery frequently; the quality is consistently exceptional.
The fish is always incredibly fresh and tastes amazing every time. I particularly recommend the Chef Specials, which are consistently delicious and highlight the high-grade ingredients they use.
Please note that they do not serve alcohol, so it is a BYOB establishment if you want a drink with your meal. If you are looking for top-tier, authentic sushi, this is the place to go.

Maru is my favorite sushi spot in north Jersey! It’s the perfect balance of price and quality with an excellent lunch special and some of the best fish I’ve had outside of NYC. Would certainly recommend and be back frequently!

I rarely leave a bad review but had to after my experience here. I saw all the great reviews so was excited to try it.
I sat down and was surprised to see how expensive the place was- Rolls were $27. Based on that, I was expecting Nobu quality but what I got was less than what you get at the mall.
First off, my sushi was ice cold which means they aren’t storing it properly, or reusing fish from the previous day. When i asked why my sushi was so cold ( on my $27 roll) as well as my spicy tuna roll, I was told they keep the rice in the fridge (which makes no sense). I said the fish itself was ice cold.
They took it away, said they tasted it and it was how it’s supposed to taste. They made me another one which was just as bad but I didn’t want to keep complaining. For appetizers, we ordered the agedashi tofu( a personal fav for me at sushi restaurants ) and quite honestly it’s the worst I’ve ever had. The tofu wasn’t even cooked.
I don’t mind paying for quality but this place is way over priced - 2 ppl with tip (they don’t serve alcohol ) and yet the bill was over $200.
A restaurant should never sacrifice quality or cut corners, but especially a place that serves raw fish. If you don’t believe me, Google what does it mean if my sushi comes out cold?
Another thing, all the staff wear black latex gloves. I saw one of the servers sneeze multiple times onto the back of their hand. Instead of removing the gloves, they washed their hands with hand sanitizer. This all happened right where you walk in. Absolutely disgusting.
I’m sure there are much better places in Ridgewood so go there instead.

It was my first time visiting to Maru Sushi on this Tuesday, New fresh start my New Year. I had an amazing experience to place order the Grand Omakase. This is my first time experience having an omakase in New Jersey. I can say this is THE BEST PLACE so far. I love their sushi qualities. It’s so fresh and very tasty. I and my family had enjoyed the restaurant vibe too. Sushi chefs and the server are amazing skills, explained well for each courses and
super nice to us. Thank you and I definitely come back to this restaurant.

It ooked so busy because it was the weekend. My husband made a mistake with the reservation date, so we had to walk-in, but they squeezed us in and made our food first, so we were able to enjoy our dinner with no hurry. We ordered premium sashimi tasting, and the server explained us some of it was dry-aged fish. Texture was very chewy & superb!!!!
Thanks a lot to the staffs for helping us not ruin our weekend dining out and
I will definitely visit to taste a la carte 'dry-aged' sushi and sashimi very soon.
