It's my pleasure to bring our foodie group members dining at Piccolo Bistro in Ridgewood, and it was an absolute delight! One member commented: From the moment we walked in, the cozy atmosphere and friendly service made us feel right at home. The other member commented: The food was incredible—I started with the Eggplant Rollatini, which was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. For my main course, the homemade Pappardelle with braised lamb ragu was outstanding—so tender and flavorful that I didn't want the meal to end. What made the experience even better? It's BYOB, so I was able to enjoy my favorite wine with dinner. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and everything was paced perfectly. If you're looking for authentic, delicious Italian food in a charming setting, Piccolo Bistro is a must-visit. I can't wait to go back! I truly hope more of our group members would enjoy the experience at piccolo bistro, a another new spot on our group list.

I'm an outdoor person and it's been such a long winter. As weather finally gets warmer, I googled “restaurant with outdoor setting in Ridgewood NJ”. Wow piccolo bistro has so many great reviews! So I headed down. Upon arrival , I asked to sit outside on the beautiful ivy decorated patio even though it was little chilly. The owner was so kind and was very thoughtful. He put one of his heaters on me and I was very appreciative and felt to so warm while enjoying people watching. Most places would've just asked me to sit inside, but it wouldn't have been as enjoyable. Here's one google review being very helpful for me to choose from the menu: An old-fashioned Italian gem hidden in downtown Ridgewood that begs your visit. It might have become my favorite Italian spot for now. I had the pleasure of dining here on rainy evening at the end of September with my family and we all left happy. I. ATMOSPHERE (4/5) - Old-world charm & Cozy, definitely going to rub some elbows if group-dining. They have decent-sized outdoor seating in the front that would be lovely during the warm weather. It was Saturday evening and the place was packed despite the drizzly weather outside. We had to wait a bit watching diners enjoying themselves for like 5 minutes, then was led to sit at the only available table for us (party of 5) at the back. II. FOOD (5/5) - We ordered family style which is, in my opinion how to dine in Italian trattorias, and here's how it went down. Bread & Pesto Olive oil dip (FREE, 5/5) - You're served a basket of warm rolls with this herbaceous oil dip. Once you start, you can't stop. Barbabietola ($15, SALAD, 5/5) - This is what you want to pair w/ heavy main fare. Just order it unless you can't stomach goat cheese. Generous sized bed of spinach and juicy sliced beets matched by ferocious clumps of goat cheese, topped with nice sized pear slices & balsamic drizzle. This and the bread would be much more refined version of Olive Garden's Bread & Salad combo.

My bestie and I went our first spring hike from Manhattan and ended up here. We sat out on the patio with a view of the street. We enjoyed people watching. Service was really great. Food was really delicious. Ambiance was chill and comfortable. Can't expect more on the food and vibes here. Will definitely be back.

The food was absolutely incredible! I highly HIGHLY recommend the olive oil bread dip with a beautiful presentation. I cleaned the plate spotless with the fresh bread! We absolutely love the food and the experience that comes with it; Piccolo excelled in all aspects of a wonderful dining experience. Amazing amazing service, and to prove this the staff is consistent and has been working there ever since we moved in Ridgewood in 2022! Our server Tomas is so friendly and detail oriented which really made our experience enjoyable every time we came! We know when we go in there we will have the same incredible experience every time! I also love the penne vodka! My friend moved away from the area, to Brooklyn, and coming back home to this house warming experience is truly one of a kind! She has been vegan for 6 years, tried many 5 star vegan restaurants in NYC and all over the state and she said that this place was SO good. If you love eating out, like I do, and want a memorable experience you absolutely need to come to Piccolo Bistro!

By far, one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. It started out OK when we were seated at 7 PM with only two or three tables occupied; the waiter came over told us the specials and we made our decision on what appetizers and entrées we would have. It took around 45 minutes before I realized we hadn't had our appetizers and I wondered if everything was going come out at the same time. After about one hour, the appetizers arrived along with some bread. With the bread was a plate of oil, balsamic and pesto mixed together. It was quite tasty and I had asked for another plate After 15 minutes had passed. I asked somebody else to bring it, and it finally arrived after we were finished with our bread. Another hour had passed after we ate our appetizers and I wondered where our entrées were. I noticed many tables around us that had come at least one hour after us, were already eating Another 30 minutes, went by and I asked the waiter what happened to our order and then he pointed over to another table telling us that our food was coming out after theirs. The problem was is that they arrived at the very least one hour after we had. At the three hour mark we gave up and I went to the back and told the owner that we were leaving and he should just bill me for the appetizers that we had. While he was apologetic and told me that the food was just coming out and that he would give it to me at no charge. I was so flabbergasted that we had waited three hours, I was at a loss for words. When we got home we tried the food which was immediately thrown in the garbage as it was awful. I do not like leaving bad reviews, but something has to be said about this establishment. It's such a shame because the location is perfect.

Cannot believe I just discovered this sweet little Bistro! Planning on family lunch for Easter and many friends have recommended Piccolo Bistro located in the heart of downtown, with a big parking lot behind it. The decor feels cozy, warm, and welcoming with beautiful outdoor patio as well. John, the owner was super gracious by offering 6 of us lunch menu with free dessert! This is a must try in northern NJ, right next to the train station, conveniently located for our guests from the city!

We go there often and the food is consistently delicious. In the warm weather it is so nice to sit outside in their courtyard.

This is absolutely worth a try! Family-owned and intimate table settings for a memorable date. The service was outstanding. John was charming and provided the specials for the week. The Osso bucco with risotto was cooked to fall-off the bone perfection. Gnocchi is house-made and all were soft as pillows. From the fresh salads to the mosiac cake and the most delicious cappuccino, the meal was phenomenal. No pictures of entrees because they were eaten too quickly! We will be back again soon! Burrata and Grilled Polenta as appetizers were delicious.

food wasn't bad, didn't expect pasta on side of veal parm to be so peppery, not sure if it was vodka sauce or marinara, couldn't tell. octopus appetizer was good, slightly overcooked, but fresh. Too much breading on veal cutlet took half off, BYOB, was $54 a person with 2 apps for the table 4 ppl. dropped $216 tip included probably have to charge these rates, rent in Ridgewood isn't chopped liver, plus no bar. I'd go back with friends and family in 6 months. lots of go to places above this.

Nestled in a charming corner of town, Piccolo Bistro transports you straight to Italy with its quaint, elegant atmosphere and romantic ambiance. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by soft lighting, rustic decor, and the comforting scent of homemade pasta simmering in rich sauces. It feels like dining in a beloved grandmother's kitchen—warm, inviting, and steeped in tradition. The menu showcases authentic Italian dishes, each crafted with care and attention to detail. The pasta, made fresh daily, has that perfect al dente bite, reminiscent of family recipes passed down through generations. The service was impeccable, with staff who genuinely seemed to care about creating a memorable experience. You have the privilege to bring your own delightful wine to enhance the meal and adding to the overall charm. Piccolo Bistro is a hidden gem for anyone seeking a taste of Italy. It's been a while since I've eaten here and the food was always good but our dinner was better than I remembered! The food was excellent, especially the pappardelle with braised lamb! And I'm not even a fan of lamb!

Andrea

I have never had a bad meal there. They are extremely accomidating to people with food allergies. They will allow you to create your own meal. Prices are fair and food is DELICIOUS!

Here I come again. every weekend after hiking in Bear mountain, Harriman state park, or strolling around Storm king arts center, I stop by here. The service was phenomenal, and the food was DELICIOUS. From the moment I entered the restaurant I felt the family atmosphere with great vibes from diversified customers. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant in northern New Jersey right by the train station!
