This restaurant is beautifully decorated, with a lovely and unique square ceiling chandelier, nice paintings, and a classy red interior with gauze cream curtains. There are some traditional Asian decorations by the kitchen area.
While the decor lends itself well to more formal meals, such as business dinners or dates or dinner with your partner's parents (as the table next to us was doing), you would not feel out of place at all coming here for a casual hangout with friends. I feel it's rather rare and requires a delicate balance to be able to encompass such a large range of possible atmospheres.
The fact that Yummy Sushi is not too visible from the outside does give a bit of a hole-in-the-wall feel, like you've found this nice secret spot. It does get very busy around Lunar New Year, though.
When we went, it was fairly empty despite it being dinner hour on a Sunday, which surprised me because the food is delicious and the service is wonderful. From what I hear, though, the place is popular in the afternoons after school for bubble tea, and I can see why. The milk mango bubble tea I had was delicious, and came in a nice glass jug. Personally, I always like when drinks come in glass instead of plastic.
For the food: We had a salmon mango tartare for the appetizer. The food came in a heart shape, which was so cute! You can tell all the ingredients are incredibly fresh. For the main, I had the Rt33 special roll with the modification of no jalapeño. The roll is made of fried soft shell crab, soybean paper, and seaweed salad. I was impressed that when I asked what the wrapping was (which was the soybean paper), our waitress was able to answer our question on sight. Some restaurants I've been to, the servers really just bring the food from the kitchen and aren't able to answer questions about the food, but it was clear here that the waitress was very knowledgeable.
My dining companion had a Hawaiian special roll, which contains king crab and avocado with mango salad on top. Uniquely, the roll is fried on the outside, which is very interesting and gave a nice crunch. Personally, I preferred my Rt33 roll, but my dining companion really enjoyed their roll, so there's something for everyone. There's a huge selection of special rolls as well as more typical rolls, as well as other sushi/sashimi options and traditional Chinese dishes, so lots of great options. I'm really looking forward to trying the other appetizers and special rolls on future visits.
For dessert, we had a tempura ice cream, which is always a treat. The portion is quite large and done perfectly - the vanilla bean ice cream (it's the high-end kind of vanilla ice cream, not your typical vanillin-flavored ice cream) is still cold but the tempura fried outside is just warm, with a bit of chocolate sauce drizzled on top.
I like that we were never left waiting for anything. Our water was filled regularly and while the table we were at was perhaps a tad small for us with all our dishes, it wasn't too bad. I do feel the food is good value for money. For us two, the bill came out to $55, and goodness knows I've had far too many meals in a similar price range which weren't even close to as good.
Overall, our experience here was absolutely wonderful, and I'm really looking forward to coming back again!

I ordered an empire role and a shrimp lo mein. I’m very picky with my lo mein because I do not like cabbage or bean sprouts and they followed my instructions with that dish. It was great – the shrimp were full sized shrimp, not the little itty-bitty ones that you usually get with lo mein. However, for the Empire role, there was no mango on it, and they mixed the eel sauce with the mayo sauce. Usually mayo sauce does not have a horseradish taste to it, so I did not get to use that since I did not like any horseradish or wasabi items. Overall, the food was very good. I will just have to adjust instructions next time.

We enjoyed what we ordered. Didn’t wait long for a service or food being made, due to our travels it’s always a big plus. Free street parking. Nice staff 🥰

Food tasted good but was not that great. The tartare we ordered did not mention avocado on the menu but had avocado (my husband is sensitive to avocado). The ramen was tasty but the broth was not traditional ramen broth and the beef was like chinese food beef not the thin amazing beef you usually get with ramen. The spinach was also a weird choice not traditional. Egg was hard boiled not soft boiled. The food was tasty but nothing to write home about and not traditional. So if you want authentic ramen this isnt it.

This place is fantastic!! They sashimi and rolls are fresh and delicious. The specialty rolls include all the usual favorites plus some creative treats. I have a gluten allergy and they are incredibly accommodating. Very satisfied. Very grateful.

Our party of two waited 55 minutes before we received our entrees. Dinners sat out on the counter 20-30 minutes before being served to customers. Servers walked table to table with meals, unsure who ordered them.

The sushi was not great. The fish didn’t taste fishy, but it also didn’t taste fresh. The salmon especially was an unnatural bright red color with no marbling or glimmer of freshness. The atmosphere was a bit off with a certain formality with classical Muzak playing. It just felt stiff and unwelcoming and didn’t fit with the cuisine or the location. The staff was trying though which I appreciate.

On the road heading back to NYC from Virginia on a Sunday, stuck in traffic in Baltimore for quite a bit and hit that window where we need to grab food or else we don't eat until midnight. Found Yummy Sushi on Google maps, only was 11 mins from I95. Called to make sure they were still open and had seating. Arrived at 8pm, and got a spot right in front. Very clean place, staff looked a bit tired so there was probably a dinner rush that we beat. Ordered The Love Boat, Shrimp Tempura and a General Tsos Chicken. Everything was very good. Would recommend if passing through and need a bite.
