our go-to thai in the area! their thai iced tea is classically delicious; all the duck dishes are sublime, especially the tamarind duck & curry duck/salmon offerings. service is always prompt & friendly; the food always hits & the ambiance is cozy. with a trio of you’re around & in the mood for good eats.

I came in for the lunch special. The starter salad with peanut dressing was very delicious. But then I had the green curry with chicken as my main dish. The vegetables were barely cooked, almost raw. I did not eat some of the eggplant because it was very undercooked. I also tried the custard for dessert. It was warm on top and cold on the bottom - I could tell it was microwaved but not evenly heated all the way through. Very disappointed.

The food is good. Unfortunately, be very careful when taking food to go. They do not package the food properly and it spills everywhere. What’s worse, is when I called the owner to complain, I had to drive the spilled food back over to the store so he could see before he would give me a new one. They should have prepared the replacement food in advance after I called, but I had to wait again. Owner also made an excuse about why the lid came off. This is just silly they didn’t put the lid on tight enough. Finally when the food came out, they were very concerned whether I got an extra small white rice or not. Instead of giving me an extra white rice they had to open the bag and take it away. Ridiculous. What a shame, I’ve been coming to this restaurant for 5 years...This is not the first time they have not put the lid on properly....Now I will think twice before coming back...Well at least my dog got a good meal after the food spilled on the floor!
They have corrected this issue- LOVE this place

If you like Thai food, you should try this place. And if you've never tried Thai food, this is the place to start. They don't mind changing the meals. I often ask for less spice or less fish sauce. They're very accommodating!

We often get Thai nam phet catered at work. I can’t speak for price or atmosphere but the food is incredible. The spring rolls are addictive and chicken satay is delicious. It is never dry like chicken can get sometimes, always flavorful. However they marinate it is so good. Will have to order for lunch on a day off sometime. I would love to try their pad see ew or drunken noodles sometime.
Very good and delicious food.

I’m originally from New York, where I’m surrounded by incredible restaurants—so my standards are very high. That’s why I was blown away by Thai Nam Phet here in Rockaway NJ. This place is hands down the best Thai restaurant I’ve been to.
The curry puffs are insanely good—crispy, flaky, and bursting with perfectly seasoned filling. Honestly, they’re better than anything I’ve tasted in a very long time, and I’d come back just for those alone.
The Pad Thai is also amazing—balanced, flavorful, and made with care. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients and the authenticity in every bite.
If you’re anywhere near Rockaway New Jersey, this place is a gem. I’d easily compare it to the top Thai spots in NYC—and in some ways, it’s even better.

We have been eating here for years. It’s our favorite thai place in the area. Tonight the food was cooked so poorly though. We both ordered pad see ew with chicken. Same spiciness level. It’s our go to and we’ve probably eaten it a few hundred times by now. So we know exactly what to expect or thought we did. My wife’s was very spicy (much more than the one star we ordered). Mine had so much garlic that it was all I could taste and it was not spicy from chili but instead the taste of undercooked garlic. The chinese broccoli was bitter in both and it’s usually not. I could barely eat it and had it not been takeout I would have sent it back, which I would rarely feel compelled to do in a restaurant. Inconsistent and awful flavor.

I celebrated my 80th birthday with my wife at my favorite restaurant, Thai Nam Phet. We eat pretty frequently here and have gotten to know the staff and owner. We love the food and the staff, plus the restaurant is quiet so you can easily hear each other.
My wife told Tina and Jean about my birthday. We had a delicious lunch of pork chops with garlic sauce that was outstanding, plus it was a very generous portion that we shared, along with tom yum soup for me and tom ka soup for my wife. When we were finished with the food, the whole staff came out with their fresh mango and sticky rice dessert, which is our favorite dessert! Tina knew it was my favorite. The staff sang Happy Birthday to me. This was a very special day for me, and we so much appreciated their sweet and personal attention, which really touched me a lot. Sam, the owner, came to me personally to congratulate me. I don’t think I could have found a better place to celebrate. And we will certainly continue to enjoy the meals and the friendly atmosphere and staff of Thai Nam Phet.
