The filet mignon (mine was medium rare) lacked any flavor and was so chewy. $35 is insane for that. The baked potato had no flavor either, even after adding salt, pepper and butter. Everything was just so bland. The alcohol tasted good, but that's it.If you advertise as a steakhouse and charge $35 for a steak, it should be a yummy steak. I couldn't even finish mine. I'm not a picky person and I usually don't feel strongly about these sorts of things, but it was so underwhelming for the price. Save your money.

Cannot recommend. Was better but has gone downhill. Ribs or steak just ok at best. The best is the NY Blackout cake if your lucky enough to get a fresh piece.

Food was okay. Service was also okay at best. My food was like warmish. Steak sandwich was rubbery, Chili wasn't good but the steak dip sandwiches were good and so was the pot pie apparently. The prices are ridiculous even by Jersey standards. The waitress disappeared and never did come back w water. We had someone else get it for us. Table of six, not a huge table. Just okay. I would not stop here again. No one finished their meal and only one dip sandwich we t as leftovers.

The Atlantic salmon was flavorless and the fries were lackluster. The service was good and other members of my party also complained about the coleslaw

Driving thru from Newark airport. Got the Reuben. It didn't list that the sandwich was open-faced which was disappointing and the Russian dressing mixed in with the sauerkraut was overwhelming and needed to be scraped off. I would suggest putting it on the side as I've never had an issue with Russian dressing when ordering elsewhere. I opted out of the fries and asked for a salad which the bartender 'forgot' to tell me was an upcharge when I showed her the price discrepancy on the menu. Seems like a nice little local hangout.

The food was excellent. I got the cowboy, my daughter the burger, and everybody else the prime rib. Each was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The cheesecake and apple pie were excellent as well. The decor is old and dark, which adds to the charm. Best of all was our service, which was friendly, fast, and fantastic. We will definitely go again.

JJ's is the best! Service is excellent! Ambiance is an older 70's ish knotty pine theme, but wait - it's no theme, it's authentic! You either like this motive or your don't, but when you're here it is the most laid back and relaxing experience - think 'Cheers', where everybody knows your name! Now for what matters most - the food. I worked for decades traveling all over the world. Honestly it was on the company's dime we experienced some awesome steak houses, truth be told, yeah, some were pretty good, but I would always compare them to JJ's, and my opinion would always be - about on par with JJ's! An amazing place!

Jim Johnstons has been my favorite place yo come for years and it still is. They hands down have the best burger in the area. Their ribs are fall off the bone delicious. The staff are all friendly and attentive. All in all this place has great food and great drinks.

Came to Jim Johnston's Steakhouse with my friends for our quarterly meet and eat. To our surprise, it just happen to be the Wednesday Night Rib Platter Combo for $17.95. What a great deal where you get a full rack of St. Louis style ribs, coleslaw, and fries. By the way, I'm not French fry guy, but these fries were great. Yum!! The staff is super fun and honest; and the service is great too. The ambiance is very old school with dark wood paneling and a great big bar with plenty of seating for everyone. Overall - we had another great time here and hope you give it a try too. Yum!
