Great place, great people.Great friendly service great food vendors
Wow what a hidden gem. We happened to stumble upon this place on a Friday night with a group of friends. The beer is some of the best I’ve had in Jersey - their IPA is delicious. It’s a very unassuming place but everyone was super friendly and welcoming. We hung out pretty late and had a great chat around the outdoor fire pit. The brew master is a super cool guy. Will definitely be back!
My opportunity to discover NJ's oldest Micro Brewery came by way of winning a ticket for a free tour and taster from trivia night played at another establishment. I otherwise believe I would have missed out on this small gem and rustic experience. I tried all six of the beers on draft and while I did enjoy them all two were my favorite - the Golden Ale and the 28th Anniversary Abbey Dubbel. The Abbey is dark in color and rich in texture. You can certainly taste the love and hard work Dave and his crew puts into this beer. Live bands on Fridays starting at 6:30 pm can be a fun pass time during the summer.
This is the oldest existing craft brewery in the state of NJ, and it excels in traditional beers. From the ESB to the Raspberry Framboise, Dave (owner and headbrewer) showcases his talent of 28+ years in developing and crafting local, traditional beers.Be sure to check their Instagram for food truck and live music schedules ??

Overhead owner talking horrible about customers … loud enough for many to hear … beer is ok …. Def not worth the headache though
Went to this brewery in 2022 and forgot to write a review. Owner is extremely knowledgeable about the beer he makes. He’s a beer scientist. Went with my ex girlfriend and had a fun time with Trivia. Bartender and owners were very nice with accommodating us. The only reason this is not five stars is because the establishment itself could use some TLC and design. If it was a legit bar that looked inviting then I’d visit more often. But as far as quality of beer it’s 5 stars.
We had a great experience with the owner and his team! A small place with delicious European style beers. Try the Snowplow winter seasonal!
Been doing some research, Climax Brewery is the Oldest Craft Brewery in NJ. Dave and his crew are making still making craft beer (German, English, Belgian styles) consistency and quality hasn’t changed since they opened. It only got better. One thing for sure, in this craft beer industry if you don’t have consistent quality coming out of your brewery you will closed. Dave has been doing his passion since 1996. FYI they are still open for business going on 27 years. Find Climax Craft Beers at any Barcade in NYC & Jersey City, NJ locations.
Excellent, several good selections

Excellent beer, one the best in the area
This is the oldest micro brewery in New Jersey serving great brews every Friday from 530 to 930. Tours are also done every hour. Bottoms up!!! Don't just read this go try it .
Dave, Eddy, Ken, Joe and Mike are the best. Great beer, great location, learn a lot during tours. Parking is tight but street parking is great. Usually 5 or 6 different beers on tap. Golden Ale and ESB and Snow Plow are the best. Chill place. Quality is the best here.
Climax Brewing is likely to serve the best beer in New Jersey. As the oldest microbrew in New Jersey you can tell that Dave the brew master/owner cares deeply about his craft. While it's a little rough around the edges and not the shiniest or most modern venue this Brewery provides a home for a wonderful community of patrans. Drinking beer and sharing laughs feels easy on their cozy patio by a warm fire. The beers a traditional and prime in nature and Dave is always interested in sharing how he makes such great beer. Don't forget to bring a bite to eat, and check out the first Friday of the month for trivia. 5 out of 5. Can't recommend this brewery enough!
if you like bold flavored craft brews this is your place !! Excellent family atmosphere !!
