We dined here during restaurant week. I started with the crab cake which was good but not the best. The short rib entree was great and the desserts were amazing! Between everyone at our table we tried them all, which were all amazing but the pear tart was the star. The cocktails were hit or miss, I sent mine back. Maybe it was just a busy night for the bar. Glad to try Rumson house during restaurant week, I will go back and try the regular menu. Waitstaff was very knowledgeable and attentive.

Thought we'd give the place a try during restaurant week. It was a good move. Our server Debbie was amazing and the food was even better. Had the pork belly and short rib. My wife had the crab cake and Amish Brick Chicken. All fantastic.

We went for Easter brunch, and the place is beautiful outside and in. They had parking lots blocked off in order to force you to Valet your car. The buffet had a nice mixture of foods, however there was no real consistency as the omelette station was the last, directly next to the carvery which made no sense. Also the omelette station caused a backup as people were clogging the line waiting for omelettes. Foods at buffet were not labelled, so you had to figure it out by the eye test. There was no order for going to buffet, so all tables went at once and jammed up the hallway making it difficult for waiters to walk through etc. Also no sort of drinks at all were included in very pricey brunch. Coffee, juice, tea all were extra add ons, which was never mentioned. Overall if you want a nice brunch, this is an easy pass. Perhaps try them for lunch or dinner.

Service fine but selection for brunch poor and seemed rationed. Misleading advertising as Mimosa or Bloody Mary's not free ,even first one. While omelet good , selection was limited. Poor coffee service and didn't even have Black teas! Suggest going for lunch ,don't pay the brunch prices.
We were always fans of the Fromagerie and loved what David Burke did with the tired decor. We were disappointed when we heard that the place was redone when it changed hands, and finally, years after, decided to dine there last Saturday night. First of all, the decor is depressing and tacky. Brown? Hello, it's 1992 again. Just awful. And there are fewer seats in the bar area, which was crowded and noisy - I think the place needs carpeting, sorry. And for two bartenders, it took forever to get our drinks. Then when our table was finally ready (even though we had reservations, the dining room -- also dreary, drab and unappealing) was half empty. But the women with the IPad at the front of the house is totally inept, so I see why. And it would be nice to have a server take our drinks from the bar to our table in the dining room. Most fine restaurants do that for their customers. The wait staff was pleasant but the food took FOREVER. I guess there were problems in the kitchen, but again, the place was half-empty? Once the food did arrive it was delicious. The chef is talented and we were all impressed. And satiated. But honestly, I won't be coming back anytime soon. This place needs a manager who will properly train the staff, and a facelift (Rumson is one of the most affluent towns in the US and deserves a beautiful dining destination, not the dreary, poor-tasteful decor that is proffered here). It's sad because I really loved the food. But that was all. And that's just not enough.
