Very high quality cups. The Blueberry muffin could single handedly cure a mild seasonal depression.

Wife and I fell in love with this cute little cafe and bakery, have been coming routinely for years. However have noticed a shocking downturn in quality and customer experience recently.

- an overwhelming amount of flies on the baked goods… extremely disgusting and unhygienic
- the beignet’s were ice cold meaning they were frozen and thawed… I expect fresh from a bakery
- ordered a tart and was given a crusty dried old one from the back and not the beautiful glossy fresh ones from the fridge case

Hope this place turns around. Disappointed.

My wife and I are on the #eatjersey challenge to have a meal in all 564 towns of NJ. We chose The French Market for Rumson, our 108th town.

This beautiful cafe is decorated in a chic manner for atmosphere. It makes a great backdrop for your Instagram pictures.

It is mostly designed for takeout, where all orders are taken at the counter. They have a limited number of tables to eat in the well-decorated space. However, all food is served in cardboard takeout boxes with plastic utensils, much like Chinese food. (That's not very French, and not very cafe-like either.) Given the way the cafe is decorated for folks who eat in, and in a well-to-do town like Rumson, I would have expected the option to eat on regular plates w/silverware.

With that being said... the food was EXCELLENT! We both got crepes. One with egg, ham, & swiss, and the other with egg, spinach, & feta. We shared an order of French toast which was made with brioche bread. The crepes were served on a bed of salad, and the French toast was accompanied by a fruit cup.

The cafe also has a selection of pastries and cheeses. We did not try any of these, but they looked good.

If you're looking for crepes-to-go to satisfy your itch for brunch, the French Market should be on your list.

Last year I was in the French Market almost everyday. I really liked their sandwiches and drinks but a lot has changed. I visited them today after a 11 months break (because I live in a different country) and I really wasn’t impressed like I used to be. My favorite drink (Paris fog tee) I remember last year this drink had so much flavor but when I ordered it today didn’t taste like anything, it was really bad. Then my sandwiches- le fig & goat panini was really cheap on goat cheese I couldn’t even sense it was there. The other sandwich which was ,,specialty sandwich” with Buratta and fig jam was just terrible. 15$ for sandwich with whole buratta piece and tiny bit of jam is a scam. This sandwich was nowhere near to be special nor good. I really used to love this place but it downgraded I don’t feel like giving it another chance.

The place was cute but lacked basic amenities like toilets or a sink for customers. It offered a variety of cakes and pastries with a dine-in option. I got a latte with cinnamon, but it felt like I was drinking cinnamon powder—it had way too much cinnamon. The coffee itself was very light; I would have preferred a well-balanced drink without an overwhelming amount of cinnamon. I didn't try any pastries this time, though they looked appealing, but they seemed a bit pricey. I might try them next time.

The only thing French about this place was items on the Menu and some aesthetics.
The rest of your experience will feel like your below average take out experience.

The person who took our order was paying no attention. Punched in whatever size they thought we wanted for our drink. Did not listen to us while we told them what size we wanted. Once the order was ready, no one bothered to tell us, it was just left on the side for us to figure it out.

The food was decent. While I’ve extensively eaten at cafés in France and wouldn’t expect the same here, I’ve had much better at other French Cafés at almost every other one in U.S.A.

Just came in for a coffee and I was surprised how adorable it was inside. The muffins and coffee were delicious! More seating than I thought and they sell everything from glassware gift sets to cocktail mixers and cookies. They have a refrigerator dedicated to just French cheeses.

Parking: Their own parking in side of building.

Kid-friendliness: I saw several kids come in after school to get a soda and a bakery treat. So cute in the French Bakery

Wheelchair accessibility: It’s ground level. No barrier

Gorgeous, charming little cafe with beautiful pastries and delicious small plates. Had to knock off a star, partially due to the lackluster service, but mostly for the typos. If your whole gimmick is being a French style cafe and market, you should probably spell the French words on your menus correctly. Love absolutely everything else about this place though!

This charming market- cafe is usually busy, serves delicious pastries, coffee, salads, etc.It is on the pricey side, which is probably due to its location, but worth the splurge. We only had a beverage and a cinammon bun, I am sure everything is delicious but cannot speak to their other fare.On my last visit, I was told they did not have a restroom, which I found odd. That is why I gave it 4 stars.Staff is always very pleasant.
