Wow, best key lime pie I've had in my life. Don't think I'd bother ordering from a restaurant ever again - I'm just kinda ruined.

Originally I was just looking for a pit stop to get a great French cruller - and Varrelmann's came up. And the cruller was very good. But the pie was just an after thought when I saw there was only 2 left in the display.

I also tried the cheese pastries, and those were solid. One was a bit thinner on the pastry part which I think was the better ratio.

The cheddar scones were sold out, but tried the orange cranberry. I didn't get a bite unfortunately, but the wife said it was good. She also got some freshly filled cannoli's.

Visited on Fathers day morning, so street parking was rough (maybe it's like that every weekend in Rutherford? My first time there.) But there was a garage around the corner that had some spots thankfully.

The shop itself has a very classic feel to it, complete with a functional old timey register (they do accept credit cards). There is also a small indoor table near the door, seems suited for kids to play and nibble at.

It's now my mission to find out what other killer offerings they have. Next time I'll actually remember to take photos before scarfing it all down, too.

Called on the phone asked if they had a black forest they said yes. I drove 40 minutes and then they tried to give me a black out cake which is not a black forest. Waste of 1.5 hours of my time. Shady business practice or inexperience, not sure which.

OMG! What wonderful service! And what an incredible apple strudel!!! There was no over-promising here: Soft apples still with a chew, the flakiest of crusts with a hint of butter. We were blown away, and we’ll be back soon. Thank you Varrelmann’s!!!

I honestly don’t know why this place has 4.5 stars. I’m German and was looking for good German bread rolls and bread.
The first time I went a while back, I got bread rolls and bread pudding. The bread rolls were okay, but really not much like German ones, not crispy at all and flavor was lacking. The bread pudding was just dry, flavor was okay. Service was friendly during that visit.
I recently gave it another try and got a pretty expensive loaf of multigrain bread. Service didn’t seem interested in selling anything.
I tried the bread when I got home and it was sweet? Also way too soft, absolutely not like German bread at all.
I was going to try some cookies, because they looked good, but for almost $19 per pound I skipped them.
If you want decent German bread, try the bakery in Lidl supermarkets…more authentic than this…

Best cupcakes I've ever had. My favorite part of the store is walking in and letting the wonderful sweet smell engulf you. They have a wide selection of flavours and a cute environment.

Wow! I loved this bakery! We went to visit the area, and happened upon this bakery. There were all sorts of options to try: scones, cookies, cakes, croissants, donuts, etc. There wasn’t one dessert we tried that we didn’t like. The blueberry scone had to be my favorite though, well, and the chocolate croissant. Nothing was too sweet or too dry, the flavors were great! Staff was so nice. Would love to come back again!
