I went to this cafe and the person at the counter was very polite. Coffee was nice, seating was comfortable, and the place felt calm enough to sit without rushing.

Unfortunately the local just keeps getting more and more expensive without providing any boost in overall quality. I was the only one ordering today at 4:00, and I had to wait over 20 minutes for a cheesesteak. And it was pretty bad in that it lacked both cheese and flavor. If they're going to charge such premium prices, they need to deliver a premium product.

I stopped into The Local Kitchen on LBI and the place absolutely delivered. It has that relaxed island vibe the second you walk in. Nothing pretentious. Nothing trying too hard. Just a spot that knows what it is and runs with it. The staff moves with purpose. You never feel rushed and you never feel ignored. They walk that line perfectly.

The food hits harder than you expect from a small coastal shop. Everything I tried tasted fresh like someone actually woke up early and cared about the ingredients instead of phoning it in. The breakfast sandwich was stacked just right. Not sloppy. Not skimpy. It had this balance that made every bite land the same way. The bread had that warm soft crunch that tells you it was toasted by someone who has done this about twenty thousand times and still gives a damn.

The coffee was strong without being harsh. It had flavor instead of that burnt motor oil taste you get from places that leave the pot sitting all morning. Here it comes out hot and bold and smooth. The kind of cup that wakes you up but does not punish you for existing.

The place is clean. Not just surface clean. The chairs. The corners. The counters. Everything feels looked after. You notice it even when you are not trying to. It is clear someone takes pride in keeping the shop sharp.

There is an easy pace to the place. Locals and tourists blend. Nobody is loud. Nobody is confused. It feels like a spot you can visit once and somehow feel like you have been going there forever. They have that rhythm that only comes from doing things the right way over and over again.

Prices are fair for the island. You get what you pay for. Good portion sizes. Quality ingredients. Smooth service. No complaints there.

Overall the Local Kitchen is one of those spots that sneaks up on you. You walk in expecting something decent and walk out thinking about when you will be back. It is reliable. It is comfortable. It is consistent. It does everything you want from a breakfast and lunch spot on LBI. If you are anywhere on the island, it is worth the stop.

I placed an order for catering for our 20th anniversary girls weekend in LBI. Everything was fantastic!! We had chicken francese, grilled veggies, orzo salad and mini arancini. Cheesesteak eggrolls were consumed for lunch. Also picked up some desserts, baked goods and bread. Oh, and the BEST Taylor ham, egg and cheese, grab one, you won't be disappointed!

Consistently frustrated with the lack of meat they put on a $14 sandwich. 2 slices of turkey folded and 1 slice of Swiss cheese on a sub sandwich! My fault for keep going back but as a local resident limited on options at this time of year. Will go to Mario’s during off season for sandwiches in the future. We do like the Local for coffee and breakfast pastries. Pricey but it’s where we live. Local, please do better with the sandwiches!

This charming café offers a clean and inviting atmosphere both inside and on their outdoor patio. While pricing is somewhat high, the freshness of the food and coffee is evident. Vegan and gluten-free options are offered. The staff demonstrates exceptional friendliness and approachability, making this the perfect little spot to catch a quick bite.

Some of the best iced coffee to date. Great sandwiches, great treats (pop tarts). Great selections of some of our favorite grocery items. One stop shop for all yummy things.

Best iced coffee. I’m from NY originally and have lived in Manhattan for 10 years. I’ve had every $8 coffee you can imagine and have gone to countless coffee shops. This place is better than them all… also the sandwiches are very solid and their deserts are incredible. Go for the home made pop tart.

Very long wait process, but can attest the wait was worth it! It’s definitely a local town favorite as it took about close to 20 minutes just to get inside. There is some confusion about which side of the building to order things as they have an express option on one side that doesn’t necessarily sell all things. We opted to go indoors, which gave us better visualizations on what they had, and once you’re inside you should have someone wait in the next line for check out and then go over and get your breakfast sandwich, cold drinks, or anything from the deli. Tons of options to choose from that you’ll see as you pass by the counter in the checkout line and everything tasted so good.

Such a great place to grab coffee in the summer! The atmosphere is fun and lively, and the staff are always friendly even when it gets really busy. I love their seasonal drinks and the outdoor seating makes it a perfect spot to hang out on a warm day.

The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that the wait can be a little long during peak times, but honestly the drinks and the vibe are worth it. Definitely a go-to spot for me when I want a good coffee and a nice place to relax.
