In Stockton NJ for the weekend and just ate at the Bistro Rouget. I was able to make last minute reservations without any problems. When we arrived the hostess was extremely friendly and attentive. From what I gather they serve an a-la-carte menu on Fridays. My wife had a French onion soup which was incredible!!!! The ingredients were top notch and despite being satisfied with a Leek Cheesecake i was a bite dissapointed that i didnt order the French onion soup. We both ordered the NY Strip steak with Pomme Frites. Such a huge portion and we really enjoyed the fresh pepper taste!! For desert we ordered a slice of a cake....portion for at least 2 people. I could have done without the desert but overall was a great start to a weekend getaway. A few things of note: we dont drink but if you do BYOB. Also CASH ONLY so please prepare for that.

This restaurant is the one I always prefer. I go to plenty of restaurants but to this restaurant I go the most. The crew is very professional and the food they cook is so flavorful. I never decline to have a decent dinner here. I recommend this place with pleasure.

Fantastic French cuisine and great service; a local gem. Safe, clean and socially distanced, with charm.

Outdoor tables were well spaced. Quality of food was exceptional: we had the mushroom soup and scallops. Service was accommodating but slow (food made to order), but we enjoyed sitting outside.

Lovely spot in the little town of Stockton. Everything was excellent: food, service, people, atmosphere. It was a Saturday night and they encouraged us to sit and stay as long as we'd like. A very special place, I'd highly recommend.

The shrimp was absolutely incredible, and the hostess was extremely kind. I couldn’t think anything that was wrong, and a jazz group happened to be playing at the restaurant for a birthday party, but it really made a great mood. The hostess was extremely kind, and everything was just great.

Fantastic little find in Stockton, NJ. Food was all exceptional. Only one server so she was a little harried but we weren't in a rush and it was fine. Will definitely return. Two things you need to know: BYOB but liqour/wine store literally across the street and no credit cards accepted, so be prepared with cash.

We have dined here many times and remain enthusiastic. Brian has some favorites that are usually available and newbies pop up. Service is always friendly and warm.

What an amazing loal French Bistro experience! Outdoor seating is comfortable and safe according to the COVID-19 guidelines. Lovely customer service! Food preparation is delectable with an explosive adventure of fine fresh flavors worth the effort to make reservations for. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

As a European, I absolutely loved my meal at Bistro Rouget. It honestly tastes just like my mother would make it when I still lived in Europe. The food is divine. One of the things I really appreciated was that the food was not too salty, which I find in many other restaurants. I had the French Onion Soup, Beef Bourguignon and chocolate mouse and each of the dishes was fabulous. The service was ok, but not great. The waitress was friendly, but seemed slow and inattentive at times. The restaurant is small and informal. I thought the acoustics were not great - it was hard at times to hear others in my party. A few important details when eating at this place: it is a BOYB restaurant, they are cash only and are only open Thursday-Monday with a set three course dinner on Monday’s. We ate here during restaurant week, which also was a set three course dinner.

Pardon my French, but our first visit to Bistro Rouget was magnifique! My wife had the Coquille St Jacques, I had the Rack of Lamb ...both superbly prepared, bursting with flavor. The service was efficient and pleasant as well, and we look forward to returning soon.
