It was delicious; however it was quite pricey We spent over $200 for 2 people with 2 drinks, one appetizer to share with a tuna meal and a steak meal
We have had dinner multiple times on the outside deck at Reeds. I never know this restaurant existed, it's small but the food was excellent! I had the crab stuffed flounder dish and the boys ate the tuna steak. We shared the grilled octopus (one of the best), tuna tartare, shrimp cocktail and the shrimp Louie salad (again excellent and a favorite). The service was spotty. There seemed to only be one Server and the rest for food runners. It took forever to get drinks. For me the quicker I get a drink the better I am as I could sit there for much longer waiting for food. They did have some sort of reunion happening right outside and quite possibly this is what jam them up and the deck was not open due to heavy rain. We would definitely return regardless as the food was excellent.
My wife and I been going to Sax while on vacation for many years and have always enjoyed the experience. During our last visit on 7/31/25, we split the colossal shrimp (6 for $48) for our appetizer. The shrimp were very large but were almost frozen which greatly diminished the taste of the shrimp. My wife ordered the pan seared black bass ($39) for her entree. The waiter said that it was similar to sea bass which we both like a lot. The black bass however was very thin and was overshadowed by tough skin which was difficult to cut through. The overall taste was not good. The sliced onions and cherry tomatoes that came with the dish were barely cooked. Also included was one two inch potato cut in half which was tasty. The bed of spinach was also tasty. I ordered the crab cake entree (2 at $48). The crab cakes had a very crispy fried crust and good amount of crab meat. Overall, the crab cakes were just okay. The whipped potatoes had a much too creamy texture and the amount of them was very skimpy. The string beans were barely cooked and hard. The waiter was very personable, knowledgeable and attentive. The overall food experience was very disappointing and well below our expectations especially for the price. We've decided to take Sax off of our go to list when we're down the shore in the future.
Outstanding food and service. Menu changed and improved from previous visits. Definitely will return.
Great food, nice ambience, and our server was absolutely amazing- even remembered us from last year!
It took one hour to get our wine and we got 3 pieces of bread for four people. Waiter said they were baking more bread which we never got. Service was very slow. Waiter never explained the tardiness.
My husband and I arrived on time for our dinner reservation . We were seated at a table for two in front of the fireplace . We were immediately served water but had to wait to order a drink. After some questioning , some of which our server was unable to answer , we placed our order . Salad and soup were delivered to the table but no soup spoon. It took several minutes to get someone's attention to bring a spoon. Our server was not aware of the situation and unable to be contacted . The spoon was provided by a very nice young man who served water. The salad and soup were fine however long before we were finished, our entrees were delivered to the table . After a discussion that we were not finished our starters, the entrees were taken away . When they were brought back to the table mine was only lukewarm . It was doubtful they were replated as promised . I had to ask for a second drink . Only half of one entree was eaten . We were offered dessert but declined . By this point in the dining experience I was completely frustrated . In addition to the above issues, a very noisy party was seated near us that made it impossible for us to enjoy our dining experience . Their language and their volume made it very unpleasant . I did ask to speak to a manager as we left the restaurant . I shared the information in this review however I got little else but a thank you . Our water service and food delivery service provider were pleasant young men , caught in a case of bad timing from beginning to end .
My husband and I had a nice time. However, the downside to our evening was that we felt rushed. Our appetizers came out and we didn't even get a moment to finish before the main entree came out. After declining dessert, my husband did say he would have an espresso. We then told the waitress we wanted to enjoy just sitting for a bit. She was very sweet and helpful the whole time, but we were given the check right as my husband was drinking his espresso. If that doesn't say rushed, not sure what does. Also, I added to our reservation (when booking) that it was my husband and I anniversary. Not once did they ask if it was a special occasion. I just felt that the service could definitely improve.
Once again a delightful evening. Food was delicious from the Virginia oysters to the fish to the cheese cake. Cocktails and wine were super. Service by Megan was excellent Joel
Extremely understaffed. The Server was good and working hard but he had almost the entire restraunt. Was unable to get drinks because poor bar process. Food was very average for the price. Kitchen issues also (eg. Took 60 minutes to get bread for the table). Have eaten here a dozen time before but seems to be going down.

We've dined at Sax many times since it opened at the Reeds in Stone Harbor Unfortunately last evening was disappointing Service very slow from taking drink orders receiving bread basket to food arrival. Our server had an attitude of indifference The portion of seafood pasta was minuscule.
This was our third experience dining at SAX, and each time has been wonderful! The waitstaff are always friendly and very accommodating; and the food is exceptional. In warmer months they offer outdoor dining with a fabulous view of the sunset.
We've been regulars at Sax for more than a year now, and we have never been disappointed. The food is delicious, served hot and in a timely manner. The service, by far, is the best on the Seven Mile Beach. The servers are knowledgeable about their menu, helpful, and attentive without being annoying. The system in place, using food runners, assures your meal is brought to your table promptly upon completion, regardless of how many tables the server has. And their wine list is excellent. Top to bottom is a great experience.
Everything from the food, service and ambiance was over the top. Our waiter was Patrick who is always so accommodating and really loves his job!
