Food and beverage quality - the martini was excellent, the $33 meatloaf was so-so. It is the off-season and it was not “fresh.”
Service - the service was pretty good, but would be even better if the bartender wasn’t so loud (see below) and didn’t make the bar about him (e.g., fancy pours). He has the potential to be an excellent bartender.
Atmosphere - the atmosphere is excellent, except that the bar area does not appear to have any noise mitigating.
Overall, the value was “just OK” given the above. I would certainly return, just some feedback and my opinions here.

Prices outrages. We got filets at $69 each. Had to pay for a sauce on top for $8. Tried to engage the waiter in conversation. He seemed to be busy when there were only 5 tables. He got my husbands vegetable wrong but we said it was ok. There was a tale of 8 next to us . They got a lot of attention. When you order a steak they bring a box that looks like a cigar box but instead it has fancy steak knives. Our waiter opened the box up without actually telling us what it was all about. The other table got an explanation of each knife by their waiter. The filet was not the best I've ever had especially for that price. I've had better filets in many other restaurants for about $40. I was disappointed in the entire evening. Our drinks were $20 for a margarita and my martini was $18. I guess for most of the residents of SH these prices are ok. We had a $150 gift card and we had to pay an extra $100. We go out to dinner at least twice a week and most times take home half our meals. Great restaurants like La Cossetta Try it. At the end of the night I felt guilty that for that amount a family of 5 could eat for a few days. Not worth it. Not going back even if I get another gift card. Hope I don't.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary dinner at Sax. The food was excellent, the server was great with recommendations. Very positive experience and we will definitely be back when we visit Stone Harbor again.

The food and ambiance were great. The drink prices were insane. I got charged $21 for a martini. Ask about the prices before sitting down to have a few. That was my mistake.

Two filets were ordered. One cooked perfect as requested medium. The other under cooked. Ordered medium also but was medium rare. They offered to recook.

Right off the wine glasses were not clean. Cloudy and smeared. Would like a cup of soup vs a bowl. Option? Waitress brought cornbread with soup but I wanted it with entree. Told her no roll with veggie burger but it came with ( wasted ) Not as good overall as previous visits. Valet was prompt and gracious.

We had an amazing dining experience last evening. Our server Sarah was attentive and paced the meal perfectly. She also made sure our guest with severe gluten allergy was accommodated. Our food was delicious- the Maryland crab cakes were quite good- no filler and jumbo lumps of crabmeat. Bravo to the chef for consistently excellent preparation and presentation with lots of delicious sides. Highly recommend!

This is our first time eating here, although we are frequent visitors to Avalon. The food was outstanding as was the ambience. Sara our waitress was outstanding and a pleasure. She was all smiles and such a delight! The noise level was high in the restaurant due to the loud conversations, but also because there was live music coming from the main lobby bar. The noise level made it slightly difficult to have conversation at our table unless we too spoke up loudly.
It was delicious; however it was quite pricey We spent over $200 for 2 people with 2 drinks, one appetizer to share with a tuna meal and a steak meal

We have had dinner multiple times on the outside deck at Reeds. I never know this restaurant existed, it's small but the food was excellent! I had the crab stuffed flounder dish and the boys ate the tuna steak. We shared the grilled octopus (one of the best), tuna tartare, shrimp cocktail and the shrimp Louie salad (again excellent and a favorite). The service was spotty. There seemed to only be one Server and the rest for food runners. It took forever to get drinks. For me the quicker I get a drink the better I am as I could sit there for much longer waiting for food. They did have some sort of reunion happening right outside and quite possibly this is what jam them up and the deck was not open due to heavy rain. We would definitely return regardless as the food was excellent.

My wife and I been going to Sax while on vacation for many years and have always enjoyed the experience. During our last visit on 7/31/25, we split the colossal shrimp (6 for $48) for our appetizer. The shrimp were very large but were almost frozen which greatly diminished the taste of the shrimp. My wife ordered the pan seared black bass ($39) for her entree. The waiter said that it was similar to sea bass which we both like a lot. The black bass however was very thin and was overshadowed by tough skin which was difficult to cut through. The overall taste was not good. The sliced onions and cherry tomatoes that came with the dish were barely cooked. Also included was one two inch potato cut in half which was tasty. The bed of spinach was also tasty. I ordered the crab cake entree (2 at $48). The crab cakes had a very crispy fried crust and good amount of crab meat. Overall, the crab cakes were just okay. The whipped potatoes had a much too creamy texture and the amount of them was very skimpy. The string beans were barely cooked and hard. The waiter was very personable, knowledgeable and attentive. The overall food experience was very disappointing and well below our expectations especially for the price. We've decided to take Sax off of our go to list when we're down the shore in the future.
