On a beautiful afternoon, my wife and I took a ride to Summit New Jersey. We stopped for lunch at the Summit House. The Summit House serves lunch, dinner and brunch on the weekends. The restaurant has a full bar serving draft beers, wine and specialty cocktails. The interior is neat, clean and cozy. My wife ordered the bib salad with shrimp and I the brisket sandwich. All sandwiches come with fries or a side salad. The salad portion was a good size with large shrimp and fresh ingredients. The brisket was done Korean BBQ style and served on sourdough bread. Both were very good. The Summit House is a good choice for lunch.
I love how fast paced this restaurant is but it is so laid back that you can stay here and talk for a few hours
Cool place. Great drinks. Expanisve wine list. Apps were good albeit small, but very disaappinted with entrees. The $130 steak for 2 was totally subpar. Flavor was meh and the the texture of meat was off. Over 1/3 of the serving was pure slices of fat. Just average spot, can get better food for cheaper elsewhere
Dinner with college friends and spouses, one of whom I hadn’t seen in 35 years…food and service were very good…atmosphere is lively and loud - made it a little hard to talk…octopus, tuna, ricotta and falafel apps were all good…three orders of scallops, one swordfish and two pork loins - all were enjoyed…sorbets, chocolate cake and coconut cake for dessert…cost, with a round a half of drinks, with tax and tip was about $750.
I don't understand the previous reviews. We arrived in Summit early evening on a very rainy day in September, and were desperately looking for a restaurant for a last-minute meal. Summit House provided that in spades: two delicious salads, complementary bread, and a to-die-for chicken dish. The restaurant was packed, and unfortunately, we were seated next to a large party in the back dining room. Service COULD have been slow/poor, but it wasn't. Well played, Summit House!
We received a gift card for this restaurant. The expectations were very high. There is both indoor and outdoor dining and we choose indoor. The tables are back to being on top of each other, with very loud music. The vodka gimlet bore no resemblance to one. It was awful. The special appetizer, a big disappointment, as was the main course, schnitzel ! It was so overcooked and smothered in salad, topped with mozzarella cheese, truly inedible. The table next to us shared the duck. It also looked burned beyond recognition, although the breast meat was rare. The halibut was cooked ok but served over chopped vegetables, indistinguishable. Maybe they are overwhelmed with all the outside dining, but the chef needs some lessons. The only good note was the very polite waiter, who apologized over and over. The smiling maitre’d floated around . They have a long way to go to impress us with food. If you want to be seen, it may be a good choice, otherwise there are many other options.
Fast, friendly and tasty. Next time we might ask to stagger the food so that we can relax and take more time. Good cocktails too!
Food was very tasty. Fast service.
No checkup on how any of the items were (appetizer / entree / dessert). Also I didn’t touch my dessert and when the server collected it I told her it was a strange texture and she told me well that just how it’s made. Hmm interesting... I would have expected to be offered another dessert because clearly I didn’t like a third of my meal or at least a comped drink but that did not happen. The ancillary staff were great and working hard but clearly there’s no sign of management or anyone ensuring high customer satisfaction for this price point.
