Fresh tasting fish and not overly cold. The specialty rolls were great as well. Kids loved everything and even fought over the last salmon sashimi. The portions are reasonable. We got in around 5:15 and it was empty at least on the main floor; there was a party on the second floor where the hibachi is. It's quiet on a Thursday night.

The food is average. Nothing to rave about. Tried assorted dishes. Can’t really be enthusiastic about any but yes it’s passable Japanese.

Located in the cozy space previously occupied by Fujiyama Japanese Sushi & Steak House on Woodland Avenue between Springfield Avenue and DeForest Avenue (despite a Springfield Avenue address and Fujiyama signs on the windows), Jenny's Japanese Cuisine offers a tasty option for sushi in a very casual, intimate atmosphere that makes a meal here feel like you've been invited to eat in Jenny's kitchen at home. Jenny's features a menu that runs the gamut of Japanese cuisine including sushi rolls and sashimi as well as a variety of freshly-made traditional Japanese dishes (teriyaki, udon/soba, tempura, etc.) at a reasonable price. The dining room feels spartan and well-worn, with very little updating from the previous tenant. As others have noted, the pace of service is sometimes best described as glacial, since everything is made to order by Jenny, who also acts as hostess and server, and one other person assisting in the kitchen. I was in the mood for sushi and selected the Spice Girl roll ($16), comprised of spicy tuna, spicy salmon, spicy white fish, and avocado topped with fish roe, and the Crazy Tuna roll ($14), comprised of spicy tuna topped with seared tuna. My most frequent dining companion opted for the Regular Sashimi platter ($30), with a generous 18 pieces of fresh fish, while the two other diners with us on this occasion selected two 'special rolls' ($10-$16) apiece. We were all very hungry when we arrived just after 6pm and it took way too long for our entrees to be served. It took almost an hour and half to get through dinner even though there was only one other party seated in the restaurant and one take-out order while we were there. That said, all of us remarked that our meals tasted great and the freshness of the ingredients was obvious. Overall, I have to give Jenny's Japanese Cuisine 3 stars for the total experience - with the quality, flavor and freshness of the food making up for the ambiance and service. PRO TIP: Jenny's Japanese Cuisine doesn't have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of on-street parking and parking in the Summit municipal parking lots off Springfield Avenue. Bring change or use the ParkMobile app for the meters ($1 per hour) Monday through Saturday from 8am til 6PM; all street meters are free Monday through Saturday after 6pm and all day on Sunday.

Authentic Japanese Cuisine here. No trendy stuff... no fancy bar, just high quality food. I had sashimi and sushi rolls and my friend had a bento box. Everything was great. Jenny is a sweet lady too.

The food was okay. We had ordered first and I went to use the bathroom and it was absolutely disgusting. A port-a-potty would have been less disgusting. Brown paint-looking sludge in the toilet bowl. I just washed my hands and rushed out. I considered leaving b/c I was worried what the kitchen must look like. We stayed though and the food seemed fine. The servers were nice. But I'd never go back

Wow I'm really hoping it was just an off night. Came here Saturday at 5:30pm as we have a 4yo and 7yo. We were the only table in restaurant but unfortunately we've never experienced slower service. Waitress acted like our being there was an inconvenience. Everything we asked for (plates! Glasses!! Things you need to actually eat a meal) was like a chore for her. To top it off the food was mediocre at best, nothing seemed fresh which isn't what you want from a sushi restaurant. Needless to say we won't be returning.

Great food! Service is fantastic. My husband and I always order one of the specialty rolls with the green salad. Fancy roll is my favorite. His favorite is either Tiger roll and Rainbow roll. The tea is so good!

Small and unassuming but the food was delicious and the prices are very reasonable

Jenny's is my favorite restaurant in Summit! The family that runs it is the sweetest people you'll ever meet. They personally go to the fish market every week and select the freshest, best fish available, so you know you're always getting quality sushi when you come here. You can't beat their lunch specials, whether it is sushi/sashimi, a bento box or hibachi, they are all great deals that will fill you up. On top of that, their miso soup is legendary! I always take my friends and family here when I'm in the area for work. Trust me, you will love Jenny's!

The best sushi place in the area! We moved fromManhattan in 2018 and were looking for our new favorite Japanese restaurant - Manhattan standard. We found it! The service is great, the sushi is so good and I wish I could order it twice a week lol we love everything from Jenny's!

My fave sushi spot in Summit!! Jenny's is my go-to place to fulfill my sushi cravings, I always get take out or dine in here. Restaurant itself can be hard to find, I used google maps to help find the entrance easier Take out is efficient, usually ready within 15-20 min of calling ahead (if not sooner). And when you dine in, there's usually plenty of open tables, so no wait time! The sushi prices are great for the quality you get (and one of the more affordable sushi options in the area imo) I loved their hot tea and miso soup and service was pretty quick.Their special rolls are well-made and consistently taste good! Their sashimi was fantastic, the white tuna sashimi melted in my mouth. Only downside for me is that there are no dessert options (as far as I could tell), but there's so many options in Summit so not a big deal. Overall, great sushi quality! Highly recommend checking out Jenny's

The food was great! Parked by when trying to eat somewhere else (that was closed) and gave this place a shot. It did not disappoint. Service is a bit slow but the food was great. Will be back

Very disappointed by the cleanliness of this place! The minute you step foot, piles of junk by the sushi station thrown. Papers, bills, clothes, boxes . It could pass for a hoarder place. The fish tanks are filthy dirty, cloudy water that sit next to the sushi station. The kitchen wish we saw it before we sat to eat. The curtain that opened looked like a thrift drug store kitchen. Sushi was ok, not much taste, not much toppings or garnishes. Other sushi places the presentation is really nice & you leave full. Paying well over $100 we left hungry. The rolls are very small and you only get 6 for the special rolls and 8 for normal ones that are popcorn bite size. I gave it two stars for the staff that was nice.
