Excellent food. It's a steakhouse, see menu online. Waiters were really good, professional and happy to serve. This made the experience all the more enjoyable. Highly recommend. Make a reservation to be sure of seating.

I’m not sure why this restaurant is not 5 stars. The staff was amazing, they make you feel welcome the whole time you’re there. The food was super good, the environment felt so nice and everything. I would definitely recommend going there if you are looking for a nice environment. Def don’t miss out!!!

Good good but truly lousy service. I was dinning alone. I ordered a cocktail. 15 minute wait. My oysters arrived. No utensils. After ten minutes waiving my glasses around, a back waiter brought utensils. I ordered a filet medium rare. It arrived medium well. My waiter was no where to be found. Another waiter intervened and took my food back. In the end, the food was good. But part of what you pay for is the service. The service was awful. My waiter never apologized once. I couldn’t wait to leave. What a disappointment. One mistake- it happens, two mistakes- there should be an apology. Three mistakes is incompetence. The maître d’hôtel paid my steak, which was kind. But it should not have been necessary.

We've been to Roots many many times over the years. Consistency is a hallmark here. The waiters are old school and professional. We love the dark ambiance. Steaks are top notch. Appetizers and sides are also excellent. A couple of minor knits. First the service can be a bit rushed so take your time eating because once the appetizers are taken away get ready for your main course in a matter of minutes. Second it would be nice if they offered specials every once in a while. Maybe something seasonal? Again these are very minor "knits" but make no mistake this is a 5 star steakhouse in NJ
We dined here for my daughter’s 17th birthday dinner just last night. The meal was superb start to finish, but I especially wanted to thank Roots for a SEAMLESS experience regarding preparing a meal for my son who has many severe food allergies. They made absolutely certain he had a normal dinner prepared, not just stick with pasta and butter. One of the managers checked in with us repeatedly to ensure his safety and put our minds at ease. For parents out there with similar circumstances, you know how much this adds to a dining experience. Dover sole was also set aside immediately upon request, making one of us very happy indeed. Steaks, popovers, creamed spinach - no one left anything behind. The sundae dessert was spectacular- and customized with allergies in mind so everyone could partake. Many thanks to the staff for simply a great night.

I decided to take my wife here to celebrate our anniversary. I have to say i made the right choice. The food was delicious and to me they had a better variety of side dishes than other steakhouses. The service was exceptional from the time we arrived to the moment we left. Some restaurants would hit on one thing and miss on another, they were excellent on everything, even the atmosphere was good, seeing everyone enjoying themselves.

Older blonde at the front made a huge deal about me being late to my reservation by 20 minutes and not calling . It was pretty evident to me she didn’t want me and my friend eating there . Don’t waste your money here it’s clear they are bias towards people of color
