I’d been wanting to check this place out for a while. It seemed like an authentic, cozy spot — and it was. However, I didn’t feel it was particularly clean for a restaurant, even though I don’t mind an old or vintage atmosphere. The menu had an odd rag-like smell when I opened it, which was off-putting.
We ordered the pork ramyun, which was good but nothing extraordinary. The chicken momo skewers were tasty, but the seafood skewers were disappointingly small. The dish I most regretted ordering was the assorted sashimi — just three pieces, plus a few tiny cuts of octopus leg with some roe, all served on a dessert-sized plate. The portion was so small that it didn’t feel worth the price.
Overall, the food was a bit too salty for my taste. The two waitresses were attentive, and one was especially kind.
I don’t think I’ll be coming back, but if you plan to visit, make a reservation. I was asked if I had one when I arrived, and seats filled up quickly right from opening time.

We came to have happy hour, and ordered bunch of skewers and dishes.
However, the servers just bring food and stand there without making any spaces for the customer.
We came to be served, but we had to make room for food and ask them to take the dishes out ourselves.
Also, one of the servers brought the check without saying any appropriation and stood up waiting for us to pay with the attitude Lol
(Honestly didn't want to pay tips)
The food and vibe was great, but the service was very very poor compared to reviews.
I will never come back if they're still working.

Good food, but with a very limited tiny space, poor air circulation. Busy at time.

Food is good..enjoyed 200.00 worth of it. Tipped them 20% and the little dude, I guess he is the owner, was pushing us out. Ruined it for me.

Been here twice we went back cause we don’t have much good Yakitori options in the town. Food is good overall we had fried calamari and some Yakitoris. But I don’t like how servers hand me over the paying machine at my seat, very uncomfortable to tip as the server was looking at the machine while standing next to us. I wouldn’t mind if the service was good but 2/5 service

Very disappointed. Waiters are very unfamiliar with the menu. A few items were not ordered successfully. Also we had to ask a couple times to have water/drinks served. Food is okay but some dishes are way too salty like sukiyaki pot. We had to pour one glass of water into the soup. Considering we spent $90/person, I won’t come again.

So, this is a very authentic place. The food is always great, and the atmosphere is just real. It still has a human feel to it because it is local and small, which is why we keep going. Thank so much to the manage (the actual owner), and the staff who brings such a real and loving feel to the eating experience. Food is always amazing...

Underrated, and a must go for Japanese food.
Tons of selections for yakitori, sashimi, and ramen. Reservations are recommended if not required.
Kid-friendliness: Do not bring your kids.

This spot had been on my ‘want-to-go’ list for years, and we finally went last night.
We focused solely on yakitori, skipping sushi and ramen (easily found elsewhere), and paired it with Japanese shouchu on the rocks instead of beer or wine.
The yakitori was perfectly prepared, and we were glad to see Japanese chefs using traditional cooking methods, including smoking! Pro tip: don’t order all at once. Order yakitori in batches to enjoy it fresh and at the best temperature.
Ordering directly from the Japanese owner in Japanese made the experience even more special. He was so kind! We’ll definitely return and bring more friends next time!

Food being too salty is not the biggest issue. They never came to ask whether we needed anything nor even filled up our water. Even worse, when you pay with card, you are automatically charged with the fees, and the server stares at you to choose from the tipping options. When you choose to pay less than the suggested amount, the server starts to show attitude right away. Didn‘t even say ’thank you’ afterwards.

I can say it is the only authentic Japanese yakitori in bergen county. Those bad reviews are not fair to the merchant. I have visited the place two times. They are very busy and expect you make reservation and come on time. Please respect their rule.

Google map shows close at 10, and we made the reservation at 8:30, we arrived at 8:45, and he says it’s already closed, which he said closed at 9pm, he wasted our time for driving one hour to here. Last time my friend visited they even didn’t give a cup of water. Poor service, should never come!!! They are just being lazy and want to go home early!!!
