Just read the last review and totally agree. The servers seem so disinterested in taking care of the customer. It’s terrible. I asked for a bag for my leftovers, and he threw it right on top of my food and walked away !

Very disappointed. Party of 5 and they automatically added a tip to the bill. Very annoying. I can see party of 8 but not 5. Will not be going back. Sticking with Koi!

I would like to start off by saying I have eaten there many times. Unfortunately today was the worst. As we sat down we were given a menu. We ordered Filet Minion hibachi dinner. The soup and salad came immediately. We didn’t get a chance to finish the soup and salad when the chef came and started cooking. He went through the whole “show” in such a rush it was like he had a train to catch. The noodles were undercooked and tasteless. The Filet Minion was tasteless. The meal itself was so rushed. The waitress brought to go containers while we were still eating and took our ice cream order while we were still in the middle of our meal.

I spoke to a manager who was very nice and agreed with everything we said. He saw exactly what was happening and he apologized for the bad meal. We get our check and he did nothing to accommodate us. I said something to him and he said he told the waitress to give us a reduction. He came back with the 20% reduction. This was a terrible meal and I was a very unsatisfied customer. He said he would call the boss to see what could be done. After a few minutes he came back and told us that is all he could do.

This is the reason why many small restaurants fail. They don’t own up to and fix their problems. Unfortunately Ichiban is a terrible value for your money and has terrible customer service.

I was really looking forward to my meal, and everything started off well — but things took a turn when my main course arrived. I ordered the steak hibachi, and to my surprise, the plate was completely smothered in gravy, which is not how it’s normally served. The gravy was so excessive that it leaked into the rice, and honestly, it was a huge turn-off. When I brought it up, they claimed they added the gravy because some people complained the steak was dry — but that should be a special request, not something done automatically. I didn’t ask for extra gravy, and it definitely wasn’t what I expected. If they’re going to make changes like that, it would be nice to ask the customer first.

I've been going here for years and often do online pickup via Beyond Menu from them (as well as dine-in) and recently did an online order where the total was $33 for 2 hibachi lunch specials. When arriving on location, I was told my total was $43. I was told the prices increased - but they didn't change the website. It is still not updated to reflect the increase. I won't be returning back for lunch "specials" anymore.

P The food is certainly not authentic Japanese and the sushi is maybe like imitation at best. It is not fresh. It is not actually that good at all in any way shape or form of quality and they are certainly not Japanese. It's Chinese run and it was extremely expensive by far the most expensive sushi restaurant in Ocean and Monmouth county. I highly would never recommend anyone going here. It is horrible. I threw up multiple times. I tried to get a refund and they didn't give me one and it was just not a good experience at all. I will never be returning here. They will never be getting my business.

This use to be my favorite place to eat , until I would meet family there and they would add gratuity to the checks when they were separate , by law they can only add gratuity to a check of 5 or more people . Not on a check with two people. Will not be returning . Do not recommend

Unfortunately, we have noticed after covid, the prices remain the same, but the portions have gotten smaller. We sometimes think about going elsewhere. The Restaurant was busy so we decided to get Hibachi to go. Got home, opened up our food and could not believe that we got less then half of what we would get if we dined in and was charged the same price. There was mostly rice and barely any lo mein. My husband got steak and I got chicken. The meat was so overly cooked. There were only a few pieces of Vegetables. I have never gotten a bad meal from here, as we eat there at least once every other month. Needless to say, very dissappointed. And the price of the dish went up between $6-$8.

Had dinner last night with a big party for my daughters back to school. It was amazing. The service and the chef were great. The chef was funny and entertaining. The service was quick with the refills and polite. The foods were very yummy and they were a decent portions. Greatly recommend !!
